How did you go 300+?
I'm currently trying to top 300 so as to seem like a viable teammate for KF. I'm sitting at 295 ATM and think the next best step for me is to start doing the Nightfall and hoping for an upgrade, yet I see a a lot of "LFM for Nightfall, 300+", so it begs to question can you get to 300+ without running the Nightfall? How did you do it?

I got over 300 with when exotic sword and the helmets and class item from SRL. The 320 ghost form Crimson Doubles has got me to 311. Other than those two special crucible events, I've only ever done standard PvE, never raided.

You don't need to be 300 to do the Nightfall or the raid. I'd get you through the Nightfall. Are you on PS4? And for the raid, just ask for some Sherpas to guide you through...I know a few people who would gladly do it. But to answer your original question...I broke 300 by playing Iron Banner and Trials, doing the bounties and ranking up. Also some of the questlines can give 300+ gear so it helps to do those.

Then did SRL, more strikes with 3oC, IB and trials which eventually got me to 311 (I got lucky with a few 310 exotic drops and a trials silver package that gave 317 arms). both alt characters can also be 310 now, all thanks to exotic infusion from my hunter that sits at 312. I've done one KF normal for Touch of Malice & did it at 298 light with 3 mates who were also below 300, my brother who was 304 and his mate at 306. That's it. You don't need to be 300 for kings fall. Make a LFG post explaining what you would like to do and you could do it straight away. If you get to rank 5 in IB this week you could be over 300 straight away with the rewards and some nice drops.

Never done a raid to completion, but I got to 312 through SRL, IB, Trials, and CD

I got over 300 with the normal raid, I got over 310 with IB, SRL and got over 315 with challenge modes. I have one character at 320 now and the other two can hit 318 and 319 (with swapping weapons). If nothing else, anyone over 300 should really be doing the first two hard mode challenges, they're easy(ish) and guarantee 320 gear.

IB, trials and exotic infusion. One of my buddies hit 305 before ever doing KF. I'd say you're high enough for the raid though. Pretty sure I was 290+ during my first completion. It's very difficult to top 295 without raiding.

Man an lfg post and don't ask for requirements for the raid. You'll get plenty of messages. I did challenge mode with my clan when I first made my Hunter. It didn't take me very long.

In the same boat, got some 310 gauntlets last night from IB, went from 292 to 295. If you are on PS, send me a friend request. Will help with Nightfall and the raid.

Just start your own lfg. Don't ask for light levels higher than your own.

Do the raid!!! Keep posting on DestinyLFG, try both .com and .net and even use forums on #recruitment Do yourself a favour and YouTube the raid boss's and raid techniques If you can somehow understand the mechanics before going in, you at least have that over level. Good luck guardian

Started normal KF in mid 290s. Went 310+ by doing warpriest challenge.

Just the normal raid. Everyone did raid at 295 when it came out.

I would not recommend the nightfall. The rewards from it are not reliable at all. At 295 light, you can do the raid no problem. That'll be your best source of higher light.

Well I got to 300+ in the raid normal mode with a cool group I found on LFG. That being said, i entered at 298ish and I don't really remember how I got there. I've only done nightfall like once. Doing the exotic sword quest for the 310 sword helped though.
