Rockstar has free DLC because they have micro transactions. I personally love GTA but that is because they make their money from people who buy money for the DLC.

And they don't force micro transactions... nothing is locked behind a pay wall, so the DLC is still completely free. Micro transactions are a great thing when done correctly, like they are in GTA... I've never bought a single card and it hasn't impacted me one bit, not in my ability to play or enjoyment of the game. So that point is moot.
