Be honest with yourself. Physical shape, social life, studying, esc are the factors to consider.

1 ReplyThat's a tough question. My life is somewhat balanced, but I do wonder if I didn't have videogames, would I have a more productive hobby and do a little more good for the world? But my first few years of adulthood I didn't play videogames and missed them terribly. My "timewasters" or "pastimes" then was crappy tv and Internet slumming. Getting rid of cable and returning to videogames was a good move. However, I'll leave this penny for your thoughts: "A man should have 3 hobbies: one to make him money; one to keep him in shape; and one to allow him to be creative."

1 ReplyNah. Probably go out to the bars more. Eventually be stupid and get a DUi. Go to jail, lose my wife and kids. Join a gang, start slinging crack, get a face tattoo. You know, the usual.

Edited by Heidegger: 2/19/2016 9:12:35 PMI have other hobbies but playing video games is my favorite. I can enjoy them in the comfort of my home, I save money(would probably be in a bar every weekend with friends spending a shit ton of money), also improves hand eye coordination. The only other two major hobbies I have are •Building gunpla •Working out

Nop alot of people over the age of 30 that game use games to relax and get there mind of the stresses of life. Gaming is alot healthier then watching TV and drinking. It provides an escape and keeps your mind engaged.

My wife hated destiny....until I brought my PS4 with me on a 6 week away rotation in Med school. She smiled as I packed it, because she knew that at least I won't be in the bars.

Not really. Video games are what I do to stop my anxious mind from thinking about the shit I have going on in life. Every era of my life has had video games as one of its reference points (among many for example winter being another reference point, or an old car, or college, etc). Like when I went to college and would stop at the bbq place with my mom and come home, have a coffee, and scrim in cs1.6. Or WoW and christmas are closely related for me. Skyrim as well.. I was so hooked on skyrim around christmas time and would watch crafting tutorials while sitting by the christmas tree with my mom, and built a new pc on the floor of the living room listening to christmas carols while my mom kept me company the whole time laughing at me bc I was sweating bullets in the middle of december since it was the first and only time I built a pc from scratch and was goimg crazy xD Or even my stoner days being up all night at my friend's house playing battlefront. Video games are too relevant in my life to quit them. As for health.. I started bike riding and went from 215 to 175 lbs (not sure kilos for u logical metric people). I gained mad weight after I lost my favorite person in the world, and even THAT period of my life is associated with video games. I had been playing dark souls 2 at the time and couldn't play it for a while bc I was playing it the night before she died. But then I got back into it again. But after she died I played league of legends and met a buncha people, one who ended up being a douchebag and making fun of the person I lost all bc I asked why he didn't gank. Some friend.. but I had met people and had a lot of fun playing LoL and keeping my mind busy. Also, played some mobile game a lot (soul guardians age of midgard, sick game.. controls are MINT for a mobile game too).

Yes cause I would finally go and fix my damn fence.
-
Obviously if I quit video games I'd take my time to being more of an athletic fellow and socialize a bit more. But to me that different would be in a way mostly negative. By now, I'be made more friends than I'd hoped for that think I'm just right. And because I'm appreciative of that, I wouldn't have them now.
That and if I quit I'd have officially wasted money on a few games that I could've used on food.
-
I could improve what doesn't exist?
-
Oh of course. But hell naw am quitting vidja games
-
Probably but fuk it
-
Way more trouble, nope
-
Probably. Didnt do any homework because i was playing smash bros online...
-
I play games at night to ease my mind. All the points given, I take care of during the day.
-
1 ReplyI manage to be a great student, be in great shape, and have a decent social life while playing video games. Some people have tv shows, some have books, we have video games
-
9 RepliesI quit Microsoft and sold the xbox as I'm fed up with their shit and I quit Destiny fairly soon after TTK was released because of the year one players getting screwed over. Those were the two irritants in my life and since getting rid I'm in a much better mood.
-
Yes....but then my video game life would suck
-
1 ReplyTime you enjoy wasting, is not time wasted at all.
-
No. I have good self-control.
-
Absolutely.
-
Depends what you mean by better. Some people consider being an inside person an ideal life. Who cares; it's what they want and if they're happy then so be it.
-
Yes, and I don't play destiny anymore.
-
not a chance the only way to let out steam, so much mindless no strings attached fun
