Should I let my 10 year daughter have Instagram ?
My 10 year old daughter thinks she should have Instagram I don't even have Instagram and I'm 32 i vote hell no

5 RepliesI would ask her why she wants an Instagram account. If she says that it's so she can post photos to her friends... Why not? I mean, this is an in-touch generation, that loves to always be in contact. Now, if she goes on to ask for other means of social media, I would prolly say no until she's thirteen, at the least. But it really just comes down to the "why" question, it will probably make her really think for a moment. You could also ask her if she [i]actually[/i] wants it, or if it's just to be cool. Your children will get distracted in school By the buzzing of the phone notification that 'so and so liked your picture'(I know I do). I don't really use social media cause if I care enough about someone then I won't need my phone to tell me their birthday, or I'll know that they got a new dog without reading their newest Facebook status, etc. Phones/ technology are addictive, most people just don't know it. So no. If you do decide to let her have one I suggest that you make it on the family computer and that she doesn't know the password so that she can obly he on with your consent.

It's good to let your kid have a social life, but I would keep it to a more private way. Not so that anybody around the world could see it. And why would your kid want to get it for anyway?

To be honest. If I had to choose to give my son or daughter Doom or social media. I rather choose doom. Reason why is the kid won't turn out dumb. The kid would A be frightened to death or B intellectually inclined to killing people. Maybe hey will turn in a cereal killer or a hit man. Either way still better than social media because there is a lot of crap worse than doom; ie furry,transgender, politics that can be far worse to the childhood. It's either this You give the items for your kid to kill or love video games. Or give your kid a device that allows them to see the world in a way that usually should not be viewed and would make her social life very boring and depressing. Both ideas are bad but social media has a higher probability of spawning low IQ's [spoiler]even though IQ does not matter I'm using the word to cover over words like stupid ,cancer ignorant.[/spoiler] Sorry for long text and bad grammar. I actually have never taken a grammar class even though the teachers were required to teach us a lot of the years. Tl;dr Would you rather give your kids a violent video game and let them grow up to become a crazed killing machine or a person who appreciates the art. On the other hand you could choose social media and let them become internet whores who stalk others thinking the world revolves around them. Usually ends up with them in a job viewing their account and firing or not hiring them. And yes jobs actually do this in America and it's another reason why you should not use it.
