The most unlucky exotic farmer?
Alright, so I read hundreds of posts about the 3oC thing and started doing it few weeks ago as I'm playing anyway. No special routes, glitches and stuff but I play a lot so I spent some 70 3oCs each week and when I started I was 305 light.
According to majority of posts ppl are getting one exotic engram after 5-7 Ultras and at least more than half are converting to 310 gear. I'm getting one every 15+ 3oC and every 5-6 290s I get one 310.
Am I just that unlucky or am I doing anything wrong here?
Edit: I am making sure 15mins passed between coins
Edit2: Saved 2 exotic engrams until I finished some raiding this week to get myself to 312 and then decrypted both to 310. I'll update after the weekend if I'm consistently getting 310s now. Those 2 got me to 313 now :)

2 RepliesWhen I'm on a three of coins farm, I always wait until the buff disappears from my character load out screen. I almost exclusively farm in the crucible. So after each match ends and I'm back in orbit or on my way to my next match I pop another. But like you, I don't get exotics every 4-6 3oc like others do. 6-10 seems more like it. My engram rolls are horrible. Tons of duplicates. Haven't gotten a new exotic weapon in over a month. I pick up 50 or 60 each weekend and it's almost always a bust. A mod replied to another post and he said you are gaurunteed 310 exotics only after you are at 311 light. 300 has a chance at 310s but 299 has zero chance at them. Just don't use your 3oc until it resets in your inventory. Dear bungie make it so my rolls give me new undiscovered exotics. Forever wishing for the last word. *sigh*

There's no exact theroy about 3oC. It's like RNG so everyone has a story. I personnaly have mixed experiences. BUT my tip is (if possible): use them on 3 characters. 3oC is character linked, which means you can get 3 exotics out of 3 3oC's just by switching characters after each drop. I do this a lot, and had already 3 times a drop on each of the 3 3oC's used at that time (1 on each char.).

Yeah If you aren't 311 you are better off stashing in the vault until you are. 290 gear is a waste of an engram

2 RepliesThere's an unofficial time period between coins thanks to ppl farming the kell for exotics. 15 mins is about right. If u want guaranteed 310 exotic drops your light level needs to be 310+. Since I hot that level I've never had an exotic engram decrypt into any thing less than 310

4 RepliesYou have to use them every 15-20mins I think So when ever I'm about to do an ultra strike I just pop one right when the strike starts. Same with crucible I pop once right when the match starts. If the crucible match ends in like 5mins, I don't pop one on the next game but the one after so it has 15-20min for I last popped it. There's two strikes I think where it's not an ultra(3 flyer one and the ominigel[spelling might be wrong]). When you pop a 3oC you can check your gear and there's a little icon that says you popped 3oc, so you know if you need to pop one or not.

My spread was like 8 out of 10 exotics would decrypt at 290 and 2 out of 10 was 310. That's when my light was 302. But as I grew my light higher they became more likely to decrypt at 310. Just bad luck if your not getting to many exotics to drop in the first place. Your luck will change though... RNGesus seems to flux between hooking people up and living of guardian tears

When your light level is 310 or higher you will get 310 drops. I've had +50 engrams and I believe only 1 or 2 have dropped at 290. Pre-farm patch I spent over 100 3oC the night they were released and averaged 6-7 per drop. I've recently done it and it was a little bit higher (8-12?) but still worth if you have the strange coins to spend.

299 and below: 290 Exotic 300-310: Change to get a 310 exotic 311+ : Guaranteed 310 exotic. I have been 311+ for a long time now and truly can't remember the last time I got a 290 exotic drop. ALWAYS 310. Once you hit that threshold you will start getting them!

The higher light you get the chances of a 310 drop improves. I haven't gotten a 290 in some time now.

What other explanation is there other than bad luck? You're still getting something but, unfortunately, it isn't at the light level you need it to be at. Just keeping grinding away and you'll get there.
