Matchmaking changes are now live in Iron Banner

Matchmaking changes are now live in Iron Banner. You can read more about the details in the blog post that is linked. Basically we have made some adjustments to matchmaking that should assign more emphasis to connection quality. Thanks.

  • Wednesday was great!!! Occasional lag red bar. Yesterday and today are pure crap. Red bars everywhere and lag is thru the roof!!!

    • Worse than before. I go in with a fireteam of five and we STILL get put into a match in progress that was going 1v6, so the scores are 300 to 12,000.. Not cool.. Lag is somehow worse, which is something I didn't think was possible.

    • Seriously.. I can't complete that 2500 points bounty. Before you say "git gud" like the imbeciles you are. I get kicked and brought back usually with about a min or so left in the match.. Every. Single. Game. This is not working for me.

    • New changes seem to spoof red bars as green bars. Was in game with mostly green bars that seem to have the same exact performance as red bars. That's what I noticed when I played a few games. GT = JoIVIamma, look up my videos and you might collect some data. ALSO I noticed that one particular member of my fire team would drop out of the match, not sure why. He didn't tell me the error code. You may want to look up some folks from my fire team. Those were the two most frustrating parts--HOWEVER, what I have anecdotal evidence of is MOST of the time when my team is lagging out it seems to also be because one of my friends is on the EAST COAST, and I am on the WEST COAST. Combine that with that they're on a very poor WIFI signal. I think that for us to all play well WE the player should be able to CHOOSE ourselves that the connection quality is good for our party. Some sort of evaluation of all the members of a fire team should know before they start a match that they're not also contributing to the lag. There should be a warning stating, "Your fire team connection is GOOD" or "Your fire team connection quality is POOR". Also let us know who on the fire team is causing the bad connection, so we can evaluate moving a new player into the team. LET THE FIRE TEAM DECIDE. Deciding for us is inane.

      • So let me get this str8, destiny is now changing matchmaking by determining a players skill? That really explains the lagg, considering most of the top ranking players are most likely laggers.... So now a pretty decent player like myself is now matched with an endless amount of teleporters and immunes. Thanks for ruining iron banner, even though I prob wouldn't get any good drops anyways

          The update is an update saying you'll update us once we do the research and post feedback. How about the Bungie team goes to their homes, and gets into IB match and do the research themselves? If you did that, you would know how much the matchmaking needs work and you would've fixed it, by now. Don't have us do the research. This is your mess. Correct it.

        • Anything Bungie does at this point to fix their PvP debauchery is futile because it is based off a severely flawed foundation... Peer to Peer hosted PvP is a fail. Always has been. Always will be. If the PvP part of this game was important to Bungie they would lease dedicated servers. Period.

            • Last night I went into an Iron Banner match and got thrown into an empty game, as soon as we landed before our screens fully loaded so we could move the game was called and we won. During the post carnage screen it was revealed that we had no opposing team. This was on ps3

              • Yesterday's lag was bad even with all green bars. I had several sniper head shots w/o detection & the ones that did hit were detecting almost a sec or so late. It seems that code is the optimal.

                • Thought this change was supposed to be to matchmake based on connection as opposed to SBMM. I'm still seeing a lot of Red and Yellow bars in matches, and there is still a lot of teleporting players and players dying a good second or 2 after I actually killed them. Even when they do die on time, there is a second or two delay sometimes with the death chime and points popping up on screen, so I sometimes keep shooting at people that are already dead.

                  Rift was a monumentally bad idea for IB when considering the lag problems. The best spark carriers are laggers because it's like they're playing in another dimension. They can casually cap the spark and stroll on in to ignite the rift while the enemy team is shooting at their ghost in the other dimension. That guy will usually control the outcome of the game with a score of 8000+ while the next closest player in the match is at 4000.

                • wow, just wow... total crap thrown in match with 19,9xx to 10,xxx as other team igniting rift... free medallion I guess for 10 sec (+matchmaking time) of nothing

                • A lot of people have been having problems with the IB rank 5 package, such as I have. I received motes coins and a ghost at first, and nothing new at post master. Then a weapons popped up in the upper corner when I logged off. Next time I logged on, no weapon. Please fix

                  I've never seen so many laggy players. It's absolutely ruined IB Rift. Just had a team beat us because they had three red bar players who lagged so bad they couldn't be hit. I wouldn't mind but reporting them as "bad connection" does NOTHING. Just kick players with consistently low connection speeds!!

                  • This how bad it was last night. At the five minute mark the spark never returned and rift became clash for the last five minutes. Lag was just terrible.

                  • Come on Cozmo admit it,the update is just a code to turn most of the red bars green on our screens nothing more.The hit detection is the worst ive ever come across,even worse than BF4 at launch.You are making idiots out of yourselves and killing the game fast.That takes a special bunch of people considering the potential it had.
