What the hell is wrong with the majority of you?

I've been playing destiny since week 2 of it's release. I joined this forums shortly after, and during the early days, it was a fantastic community. I've gradually seen this whole community decline and turn incredibly sour. To sum up the forums in it's current form.... - Nerf this gun it's too OP. - Now nerf THIS gun as it's now OP due to past weapons being nerfed. - Bungie suck. Boycott this event. - Boycott THIS event. It's offensive because I think Bungie aren't trying hard enough. - Bungie haven't released an update on the hour. They don't care about us. Boycott destiny. - Optional micro transactions are here. How dare Bungie force me to buy items that are simply for cosmetic effect and have zero effect on the game. - SRL is lame. Get rid of it! - SRL needs to come back because we have nothing to do. - Iron banner is ALWAYS control. We need different game modes. - Boycott Iron banner. Bungie have changed the game mode to 'Rift' and I'm bad at rift so it should be control! - I'm doing VOG. I need a team of all 320's. Must have black spindle, touch of malice and the Kings fall hard raid emblem. - Noobs. You're a noob so here's an insult. - You have a k/d below 1.0. You also get many insults! - Teamwork and team tactics is cheating and must be banned! - I was beaten by a better team? You're being reported for lag and cheating! - YOU'RE USING A PARTICULAR WEAPON THAT WAS BUILT INTO THE GAME TO USE? AND YOU'RE GOOD WITH IT AND BEAT ME?! YOU'RE SUCH A SCRUB! Simply guys - it's becoming pathetic. It's a god damn game that you've all bought, played, and bought the expansions knowing full well what to expect. If you have this many complaints and you're as unhappy as you all make out, put the controller down and do something else. There's a whole world out there! I personally enjoy playing destiny for what it is. I play it when I get the time to. I have fun playing with friends and it is a genuinely fun game, even if yes - it IS a bit repetitive. The point of this post is to highlight how bad this forum has become (even though it has been highlighted many times before). It's a game guys... Come on. TL;DR

  • I might add delete the app and leave the forums too if their that disgusted with the game. I come here for info an people's stories. Not to hear all the whinny salt hunting asshats. I never was big on muting but I've muted close to 40 and it's getting better. Most negative post just get muted without a second of my time reading. Thank you sir for speaking out.

  • In all seriousness, here is why you don't understand what is going on here. Maybe you do but here it is. On one side you have mainly PVE players (YOU). On the other you have mainly PVP players. Then there are both. Then there are casuals. Then there are players who just suck at the game. Then there are just assholes. Then there are streamers/Youtubers (not all are the same). PVE focused players ask for nerfs because they can't keep up with TLW and such when they enter the crucible. They don't seek out information and learn counters for these quick ttk weapons. On the other hand they complain about content because Destiny's PVE is never updated consistently to keep up with the demand. PVP focused players don't care about PVE content, so their complaints are focused on pvp. So you get things like shotgun range nerfs, and thorn nerfs, and soon they will nerf immunity shields because it's ridiculous that a person can get a res and shotgun you while they are immune.... Etc. Players who do both PVE and PVP are fine and addicted, until the only thing left to do is...nothing. And then they start finding flaws in the game and the more vocal ones start complaining. Ever heard the term "you can't please everyone all of the time"? Yeah. Then there are casuals. Again, you. You guys jump on Destiny when you can and do stuff and things. Probably don't really care about grimoire. It's nice to get this and that. If you collect all the fragments one day that would be awesome. (Idk if you have them, just sayin) Npt many complaints from you guys. Then you have scrubs. True scrubs. They complain about everything except glimmer. Good news is that their posts aren't really regarded as relevant and don't get too many replies. Other than 'git good' and stuff. Then there are the assholes. The ones who've never played, played way too much, feel betrayed by Bungie and have nothing better to do that tell the world. You've seen them. One of them posts almost daily... The issue with these guys is that they get A LOT of replies. Their threads get bumped and you just have to read them because they're trending. It's the old water fountain, or parking lot conversation. It's fun to hate on something. Even if it's u founded or downright stupid. Now the streamers. The majority of which feel that the game was built for them. They do everything. Blindfolded even. They have officially run out of things to stream if they aren't carrying people to the lighthouse. If they complain it's because the content isn't difficult enough. They are burning out right now. Their channels get less and less views daily. Of course I don't want that. I watch them. Some are very useful. So there you have it. It's Bungie's job to sift through all this garbage and come up with something that pleases the majority. It's also their job to keep the world of destiny going. Unfortunately I think it is proving to be a bigger challenge than they originally anticipated. Probably requires way to many resources and payroll with the majority of time dedicated to developing stuff, and for the time it takes to develop a new world it's too expensive. Good luck to us all. ;)

In all seriousness, it has been like this almost since the beginning. Nerf this, nerf that, my k/d is better than yours, mega scrub, buff this, it's now too strong, lies, .2%, etc. I don't see a change anytime soon.

          • Wow, people come to the forums for a game to talk about it and have conflicting opinions? I don't even know what to do with that.

              • I'll let you know; - The average age of the game is 13. - The community holds this game to a level of perfection they don't seemingly hold any other game to. - The community is illogical. Constantly trashing, bashing, and bitching about the game, but they also won't stop playing it. Their actions and words are contradictory. - Entitlement - Whinny - No real responsibilities, so video games become "serious buisness." The list goes on. Just a real shitty community at the end of the day.

              • When I was a kid the game they release was what you got. That's it. No more, no less. If there were glitches then they were there to stay. I fondly remember the mew glitch, that was my favourite. I also remember when games were hard. The grind was constant, there were no save points, you lost all your lives and you were back at square one. There was no mercy. If you didn't like a game you bought you took it back or put it away to collect dust. If you liked it you played the absolute shit out of it until you had every part memorised. Games got easy, we got checkpoints and save points and difficulty settings. The games showed mercy finally. They got bigger. The grind never changed. Now games are even easier, they hand everything to you without even thinking. They don't take effort anymore. Destiny is a taste of the merciless of before. No more 'go here do this and get that'. It's 'go here do that and you might get this who knows'. It hands you nothing. Gamers these days are used to everything being handed to them, they seem to think that just because there's an open forum that they can demand everything and anything from the company and expect to be listened to and obeyed. They feel like the money they paid makes them entitled to be a dick. Why are the forums filled with so much complaining? Because the people who actively play this game don't want to deal with the constant crying and entitled bullshit. Every person I've spoken to avoids the forums because of the cry babies. It's a damn shame because those people could have revolutionary ideas that could end up being the next dlc.

                • 90% of what you wrote is just cry babies posts, what about things that improve the game like Matchmaking system? I just mute the nerf posts so hopefully i don't see them in the future. Including yours.
technically you are bitching about people bitching at bungie.
• I tend to agree with most of what you've said and also perceive a general degradation in "community spirit". Some of the incessant complaining is genuinely laughable and while I certainly don't see the game as perfect (far from at times), I see a lot of its strengths. I appreciate that everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I would defend anyone's right to their opinion, but some opinions are downright daft. I don't agree with the microtransactions and whilst I appreciate they do not have an effect on gameplay (looks aside), it could be a sign of things to come. Bungie's track record regarding honesty is a little chequered, and to me this means they could just be testing the water for more intrusive transactions later on... Otherwise, I like the game.

                • There are way more crybabies than there ever used to be. Mostly because everyone expects everything to be handed to them now. Newer players don't know about the state the game was in when it was released. The amount of grinding and work needed to get things now is nothing compared to back then. Weapon balancing now takes a U-turn every time a weapon update is released, because Bungie has no choice but to listen to the players who cry on the forums about the gun they refuse to use, but keep getting their asses kicked with. Destiny was much emptier back then, but the community was nowhere near as whiny as it is now.

                • I agree that some people will complain at anything and everything in this game. So there will also be unhappy people. It can also be simultaneously true that Bungie has made some really questionable game design decisions or at least their design has some pretty major drawbacks: endless grinding, gating progress and nerfing player abilities to increase difficulty, RNG odds that make playing the lottery seem easier to win.

                • Look, I'm a Y1 Christmas noob with about 2,000 hrs on. I have never requested a nerf on anything. The gameplay has been great, for the most part, in PVE. Exceptions being glitches throughout all raids which later rather than sooner seem to get fixed. But current Game is a mess. I have never seen it so bad with lag in PVP and getting booted out of the game during raids. I find it an insult that Bungie has the gall to tell me it's my internet connection. All I ask is to be able to play the game the way it was designed to be played. If you, Bungie, can't provide what I paid for either fix it or a lot of us will be moving on.
