Punish the Quitters

Problem: Start playing a crucible match, people decide which team is going to win within the first couple minutes, and 1/2 the people who think they are on the loosing team simply leave right off the bat. New people join in to replace them see they are put into a loosing team and leave as well. Meaning no competition and no room for a comeback with one team dominating the other the whole time. Bungie this problem is getting ridiculous with Destiny and needs to have a solution. Whether it's to prevent them from entering into another crucible match for a period, a "negative medal"/Mark, or something else, something needs to be done plain and simple. Edit: The punishment shouldn't be for people who leave when put into an already loosing match , but for those who started from the get go and leave before the end. This is what I was originally trying to get at ... And the WoW Deserter solution would probably solve it best ... No permanent punishment , but a limitation on what you can do. That way if they left because they had something else to do it wouldn't really matter to them and would automatically cut down on constant leaving/rejoining to find a winning team.

  • Man you people still miss it, the reason people quit out so much is how bad the PVP game functions for most. If I got pulled in to a losing match with only a few minutes of play left I quit out (mercy rule not working). If I notice the other team has people playing that can't be killed because they are red bar I quit out and look for a new match. If I notice I have a red bar I quit out and look for a new match. This all bungie problems they can't fix because of peer to peer choice.

  • Would their solution differentiate between quitters and dc's? I know their coding in trials sux as I have received a loss more than once when dc'ed.

    • While I do not condone quitting to prevent a loss, you can't seriously expect Bungie to discipline anyone quitting this broken system! Match into a game where you are down 8000! Match into a game with Gods: invisible Warlocks and Titans! Matched green then all enemies go red and are invincible! Just to name a few. I have one rule in Crucible: cheat x2 in a match and I witness it, I leave. Doesn't matter if I am winning and you are on my team! I refuse to play with anyone that cheats, period. I pray any disciplinary action will be levied against me. It will irrefutably confirm to me that cheating was designed into this game on purpose and that refusing to tolerate it results in a ban! Remember: "the worst offenders received a ban or restriction". What happened to those who were not the "worst offenders"? They are still here, playing and cheating! I do not have to tolerate that, ever!

    • Back when Bungie did halo reach, they introduced "credit" aka currency/XP jackpots if you stayed in matches. They also put you on probation and didn't let you play multiplayer if you quit too many times. Implement something similar. Reward the people who stay with some sort of proper incentive and slap those quitters on the wrist.

    • Most online games on PC have had this for years. This is a choice developers make so if a game doesnt have it, the developers are basically saying the dont care if ppl quit.

    • Going off of the title I say go ahead make it a thing But they should also make it where guardians can't join a game in progress after its started

    • Not in the current state. If you join an in progress game and get -blam!-, the teams will be "broken up" to find a better match. This can lead to joining another in progress session. On top of the 2-3 minute wait times, I'm sure anyone who doesn't get pissed is a god. To fix this, sbmm needs to go. We all know it's there. Prioritizing connection of skill level is key in this process as it eases lag. Many reasons one may leave the game is becuase of lag. Second having the lobby system like cod. This will ensure that you get a new game if you stick around. If someone wants to quit after the game sure but they are more likely to join an in progress game next. Third, adding a " crucible streak". There is already a vanguard streak and I'm sure it would be easy to add this. Finally adding better rewards at the end. for example : winning team// loosing team 1) 100% // 75% 2) 75% // 50% 3) 50% // 25% 4)25%// 10% 5)25% // 10% 6) 25% //10 % The numbers are want position you got. The percentage is chance for legendary. Leave exotics for those who popped 3 of coin. Win with 25% chance Loose with 10% chance Why not add all legendaries to the pool. It could just be me but I only see a certain few legendaries dropping aka : eyasulana, party crasher, spare change, split shifter. Why isn't 1kstare in there or conspiracy. Been looking for a good roll on the vacancy? To counter the argument that 1kstare and conspiracy will be even more popular: the 1k we got from the quest already has a solid Pvp perk setup. Only thing someone could ask for is hidden hand and snapshot. More importantly it will give us options to use in Pve during strikes. Imagine getting an arc 1k that had perks to benefit you against the shield bros. I'm not sure if others want this, but personally I would love a ranked playlist. This would include no heavy, 4v4 control, clash, rift ( for lag purposes). Quitting for any reason gives you prohabation that becomes more severe over time. However if you don't quit it becomes less severe.

      In tiger woods if you left it added to your percentage of quit games,anything over a certain percent say 8-10% plus,people could check this and not ask them to join.its only of limited use in destiny but maybe the shame on forums would make them think twice. In a fire team it depends would you invite a high quit rate over a low quit rate but with better kd.

      Incentivize people to stay. Otherwise, why in the world would people stay in a losing match that isn't fun? I quit all the time. And I shall continue to quit if it doesn't benefit my goals. It's MY game, as it is also whoever else bought it, so we can do whatever we want.

      • I leave any game I'm put into if its already in progress. Doesn't matter if its winning or losing side I'm put on. I'll leave because I only like playing matches from very start to finish.

      • Won't work in a peer-to-peer system....too many DC's and bad connections. Those games with timeout punishment are dedicated server games. Personally, if I see a 5 or 6 person FT and I'm playing solo, I will quit that game because the FT SHOULD dominate a bunch of singles.

          Stop giving bounties that require wins and stop throwing people in matches when your down by 8000 would be a good start. And get rid of skill based match making, nobody is going to sit through bad connection.

          • Most games have quit bans. Another example of Destiny and it's inferiority to other games. That being said, you can't have join in progress and a quit ban. The two can't coexist

            • I 100% agree, pretty sure they have something like this in Halo 5 or ive played games where if you constantly leave games early you get a timed ban on being able to search for them again.

            • I think leaving a match should not negatively affect you, but simply lock you out of any activities (besides Tower and Reef) for the remainder of the match. That way, if someone has something they need to do irl, they're not penalized for it because they wouldn't be trying to join another activity, but people who quit just because they don't like the match will be locked out. Same with people leaving midstrike.

                Do the same thing as world of warcraft Leave a pvp game and get a debuff called Deserter. Cannot play pvp for set amount of time.

                • How about they make the rewards better. Remember IB before the medallions? People used to bail out of games like crazy. It got so bad they created the medallions. If it worked for IB, why not reg crucible? When cashing them in you get more crucible XP and closer to a package. I stay any way, but it might help those that get depressed when the score in control is 3500 to 1500 after a couple minutes.
