***RANT ALERT*** ***YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED***
Year 1 was so much better than what the shit we call "year 2" . Year 1 rewarded good players. BEFORE Crota's End WE HAD TO WORK for our high levels and good gear. What has happened now? Any shit player can reach level 40 and just DO ABSOLUTLY NOTHING SPECIAL and get 300+ light. The LIGHT LEVEL SYSTEM of year 1 is what made this game unique. Now that that was thrown away there is nothing special about this. Might as well just go and play a free one which actually rewards the players that WORK FOR THEIR LOOT other than the people that do nothing and get high light.
Going back the before Crota's End, HOW MANY TEAMS ACTUALLY BEAT THE VoG BEFORE CROTA'S END????? NOT THE MAJORITY!!! THEN VoG was turned into a joke instead of Bringing it forward with crota's end. ALSO... the amount of lvl 30's in year one was less than 1/2 of the amount of lvl 32's in Crota's end. Why you ask? Because Bungie didn't try to satisfy us. They got lazy and released the most broken thing in the game; as well as patching almost none of these glitches because they didn't care. They made us reach max. They didn't try to give us a challenge. VoG was a challenge the entire time because it was long, had multiple bosses, it depended on the team and not a single person being able to do the entire raid as raids are supposed to bring people together, the bosses could be taken down with multiple strategies, the average player was way too under leveled to do hard, you had to do normal MULTIPLE TIMES to be able to even give a fair chance to hard mode.
The VoG "Era" was the best of Destiny. The game should easily be more rewarding to the hardcore players and not the casual crowd. Such as making go up multiple levels in the coming dlc instead of only letting us go up be 2 levels (PATHETIC) and giving us a mediocre "challenge".
Also something else I want to touch on, Them telling us our year 1 progress and effort would not be useless. Flat out LYING TO US. I still keep my most favorite year 1 weapons in the hope they may be useful sometime in the future which is very unlikely. I still carry around my Fatebringer, Gjallarhorn, Vex Mythoclast, Patience and Time, and my Shadow Price. Year 1 is essentially useless to us now.
This is why destiny is going down the shithole fast. Bungie Clean us your act. Fix your game. Make us work for levels (NOT TOTAL RNG 310-320 LIGHT BULLSHIT). Let us enjoy the old ways of this beautiful game.
(Thanks for reading :})
Comments and Feedback are welcome as well
Author Edit:
About the VoG era I was talking about, I was not talking about how shitty the drops were or Forever 29. I was trying to talk about the quality of the raid and the fun and challenge it produced.

Year one destiny was shit. You mean to say that your experiences were better during year one. The reason you're probably not having a good experience this year is because you're already used to going to the same -blam!-ing planets over and over and still doing the same strikes that you did in year one.

Bump year 2 blows pee pee

2 RepliesThe Destiny Beta was absolutely the best experience with this game. Not even kidding.

I think both years have their good points and bad points.

4 RepliesEdited by Tristyn : 12/21/2015 11:04:06 PMBased on the responses here it's easy to figure out why the game sucks now. People would rather spend hours grinding for Calcified Fragments and Materials to get their exotics than play something fun like VoG. Exotic Sword & Touch of Malice Quests = the worst quests of all time. But all you see in the replies is how great it is that we have quests to get exotics now....Boring quests and shitty exotics is what apparently draws people in these days. Oh, and worthless events like festival of lost and SRL...people love that stupid shit and actually spend real money on it. So we have bungie working on that crap instead of providing any actual new content.

1 ReplyI raided 3 months straight without a single armor drop from VoG. I reached 30 because Iron Banner 2.0 rolled out. So the RNG fixes were appreciated

5 RepliesNostalgia heals all the old problems from vanilla. There was nothing to do after you hit 20 except grind strikes. Then you raided, which everyone cheesed. The events were garbage and had broken loot and the quality wasn't there. You would wait for hours and hours on patrol just to get your damn ascendent materials. Vanilla was not better, it was borderline a beta and obviously hadn't been play tested well. The vanilla game was a disappointment and got way too grindy - year two has fixed so much of this with MORE things to do. Is it easier? Eh, a little. You still have to grind your ass off to get max level, same as before. But it has fixed so much in this game and has made a game I can actually recommend to people. Year 2 > Year 1.

I too enjoyed many of the aspects of year 1. But then again, it was just as broken then as it is now.

Bump!

3 RepliesI expected the nostalgia filter to hit eventually. People hated 1.0 and bashed it non stop for 3 months. Then TDB came out and people were even more infuriated. When we finally got a lot of requested features in HoW, people were happy for about a week, then they returned to the hate train. When TTK released, everyone was so excited. New system, new content, new raid, new new new... Then after a month or two, everyone has come to this conclusion that the vanilla version of the game was somehow better than it is now. With a tiny vault, bad drop rates, minimal content and a punishing level system. I do agree that VoG is an amazing raid and while short, I also enjoyed CE. To me KF is a worthy addition to the game and gives us so much of what VoG had. I wouldn't go back honestly. I reminisce about vanilla WoW off and on, but I'd hate to go back to that too. Just my thoughts.

I kind of agree with you here. I only find myself coming back for trials. I'm a long time destiny player myself and I miss the days where getting an exotic actually meant something. I remember my first gally dropping, and I screamed like a little kid

I wanna say this, the new light system is the same as the old one except guns count too. There is still a forever 29 aspect which is right around 314 to 319 have a great holiday and thanks for reading

Day 1 Beta Destiny was the best Destiny.
-
No, old destiny was new to us. Far from " the best"
-
Lol, no. TTK feels like They finally have some sort of direction they want to tackle.
-
Old destiny was not the best mr cryptarch was pretty mean

Lol, who are you trying to bullshit? The raid drops have always being kind of shitty, having to gather mats for hours was not fun, the balance of PvP was better but still out of balance, the light lvl system sucked bad(for ever 29). Year one was a mess and TTK made it way better. The problem with this is the players calling TTK year 2. TTK is the start of year 2. Challenge mode in the raid is great and the drops are worth the time invested, the light lvl system is better since the introduced infusion to weapons and armor, we have more exotic weapons attainable by quest or missions than before, there is more to do than in vanilla Destiny. Vanilla Destiny had the raid and Iron Banner that was it. Now we got SLR, Trials, Iron Banner, Kings Fall, raid challenges, Banshee quests and weapons. TTK brough much more to the table than the initial release. Pleas stop comparing 1 DLC to the whole first year(vanilla,TDB, HoW)is not fair and even so TTK is way, way more polished than the whole year 1.

however getting the first Vex from Vog in November 2014 and going in to crucible OMG...i was so happy!!!!....and then Nerfshite...
-
yeah..farming out stupid mats for days just to level up 1 gun...it was so good...vog over and over...and over again without armor drops yeah it was same shit as now...

5 RepliesDisagree pretty hard on the idea of light level. Doing and completing the raid and getting the loot from it should speak for itself. Light level should not be something rewarded from it, let alone be something to brag about. Certainly I don't mind the raid being a boost to light level, but being the sole provider of it is flawed. Endgame should be about getting the gear you want, both in terms of form and function. While being as optimized as possible, and being at max light level. --------That's something worth bragging about. However this is near impossible to achieve with the way things are now. Let alone doing this for every single playstyle we might want to use.

14 RepliesEdited by Walrus Walter: 12/21/2015 7:01:52 PMNo. It wasn't. Everyone here thinks it was. It got a 6/10. It was nothing but grind. You couldn't wait until the week was over because you were so damn addicted to the game because of the rng loot system. In year two they gave you everything that made you frustrated in year one. A majority of the y2 exotics can be achieved through quests that you don't even need to grind for. And the rest can be farmed from literally any activity with three of coins. There's four different endgame activities in year two. Vanilla had one, which didn't even reward you all the time. At least with king's fall, the challenge mode guarantees you rewards. Not only that, but if you don't like the raid, you can play trials or iron banner or race your sparrows and get rewards of similar light. Legendary engrams drop like candy now, and guess what...the Cryptarch decrypts them into actual legendary gear. No more shards. Oh what else did TTK bring? A story. Yeah Remember that story in vanilla? I don't. What else is there...oh yeah they made motes drop like candy too. The best part about it is that you can just dismantle them for XP. That extended grind though. You can buy weapon parts, use a universal armor material, sell your planetary materials for faction rep, race sparrows; these were things requested by the community. The only reason you're saying that is because of nostalgia. It's the same reason why people say gen 5 Pokemon are lazy even though they did the exact same thing gen 1. You want vanilla Destiny back? You want an addictive carrot on a stick again? Fine by me. You enjoy a 6/10 game more than its 9/10 dlc. I don't know why. I guess I'll never understand. I didn't get the vault of glass arms until March. I didn't get Fatebringer until mid-dark below. It took me three hours to beat Crota on hard, and it wasn't because it was difficult, it was because the whole damn raid was inconsistent and Crota would cheese our swordbearer. House of Wolves came out and by a week in I had all my gear at max level. Not only that but all those poor HoW weapons were just trashed by the elemental primaries. Not only that, but crucible was plagued by thorn and last word. You want that back? To get sniped across the map by an autorifle and to be two shot by a guy who just ran around a corner and watched you die? How? How do you people want that back?
