I recently made a post "can you shotgun" and the comments regarding skill made me start to wonder.
Now I'm not talking about some suicide shotgun. I mean how many people go like 15-0 ,or flawless trials , 1.5 or better K/D that kind of thing .
I would love to hear what the community really thinks
Edit 1: a lot of votes for sniper rifles but no intelligent comments as to why . Just a lot of "because I said so that's why "

Its much easier to adapt to shotgunning from sniping than the other way around.
-
Snipers are the definite winner on this post. But I've done well without a sniper and going shotgun only lol
-
Double tapping with a sniper and shotguning both don't take skill. If you hit headshots most of the time, then yes. Snipers take more
-
In my opinion snipers take more aim and positioning for destinys tiny maps, and camping with a sniper is much harder then camping and sliding with a shotgun.
-
I use a shotgun more due to pvp play style....but getting proper consistent head shots with a rifle takes a bit more skill in pvp anyway.

1 ReplyThere is no skill, there is only the force.

1 ReplyNeither really

1 ReplyGiant shotgun reticle at close range vs tiny sniper reticle at range with moving target. Shotgun can one shot kill in the body and have full auto. Snipers must be a head shot to kill and follow up shots can be difficult. You can jump and shotgun while spinning. Don't know how this could even be a discussion.

2 Repliesthey're quite equal I think... For one you need to get up close without dying, and the other requires you to aim..,

Scouts vs. Snipers. I take that as a personal challenge when I see the red dot glaring at me. I win about 50% of the time. It's just fun to out shot a sniper while strafing.
-
You can only show me so many sniper montages... saw a video of some dude wiping entire teams with the Chaperone on Trials, believe it was recent too. Don't play Trials but the map was Drifter. Anyway, yeah.. if you can get in THAT close to all those Warlocks (ridiculous melee range), Titans (striker melee AoE damage is now pretty dangerous), and Hunters (no need to describe close range lethality of any subclass).. yeah. As in, being surrounded and coming out victorious? CQ is much harder to play in, IMO. So much more can go wrong. SO much more lol.

I don't like snipers because a lot of them ignore the game objective.

9 RepliesI think shotgun take more skill now since it's all TLW 1000 Stare meta. Sniping took skill pre HoW. Then shit loads of AA was introduced.
-
1 ReplyBecause most players using a shotgun only use blink or hide in a corner and wait or crouch so they stay off the radar. It takes zero skills to do this and i know a lot of players will say "snipers camp also blah blah blah." Yea but thats what a sniper does they arent supposed to sprint up to you and quick scope you they camp and hide so you cant see them but they see you and kill you. Snipers take more skill because even though most maps you dont have to some of the maps are big enough you have to lead your shot even just a little it still matters when it comes to getting the kill or wasting a round.
-
1 ReplyJust because one takes more skill than the other doesn't mean that they both take much now
-
4 RepliesEdited by GettingGoated: 12/18/2015 3:39:37 AMI think the skill it takes to be truly good with a shotgun is completely overlooked. Now I'm not talking about someone who just warriors and sprints directly at u, hoping for a one shot. It takes a lot of map awareness and control of your character's movements to outplay other players in a close quarters battle. Anyone can get a lucky kill or two just blindly firing at a large body in front of them. But if you are consistently getting 1.3+ k/d using a shotgun, you are absolutely imposing your skill on other players just based on how much danger you are in playing so up close and personal all the time.

Shotguns are way for fun to use than a sniper. Sniping is like shooting fish in a barrel.
-
2 RepliesSniping minus 1000 yard stare Any other sniper sniper requires a decent to high amount of precision
-
1 ReplyShotguns have nerf so much they take so much skill now aim assist on snipers makes them take no skill
-
Shotgunning may not take more skill than a sniper, however its much easier to get a high kd with a sniper than a shotgun.
mostly those who camp at their Spawn/chokepoint
. I myself like to rush in the action , idgaf if i die i wana take a soul or 2 down with me
-
Both take equal amounts of skill? Snipers need some positioning and a good bit of aiming, while shotgunners need the opposite- some aiming and a good bit of positioning.
-
In my opinion neither take skill it's just how you set up ur engagements. It takes little skill to snipe well just brains same thing goes for shot guns
