I recently made a post "can you shotgun" and the comments regarding skill made me start to wonder.
Now I'm not talking about some suicide shotgun. I mean how many people go like 15-0 ,or flawless trials , 1.5 or better K/D that kind of thing .
I would love to hear what the community really thinks
Edit 1: a lot of votes for sniper rifles but no intelligent comments as to why . Just a lot of "because I said so that's why "

Shotguns are so hard to use it's unbelievable. Snipers are easy af

Snipers. Even though kjhovey makes it look easy, it isn't just dragging your reticle to the enemy's head. Well it is most of the time, but it needs to match the timing of your trigger finger too. You can always miss with the 1000 yard stare.

I'm going to say snipers but the only real difference I find is knowing the maps. A great sniper needs to find those lanes in each map to pick people off. The really good shotgunners are the ones who know these lanes, and hunt down the sniper with with one blast to the melon. The lost players who also mostly suck and "tbag", are the ones who exploit the OP Shotguns that have ridiculous range.

Edited by Urban Shade: 12/19/2015 1:06:57 AMSnipers, takes longer when both teams are playing that passive game and you can run into other snipers who might be ALOT better.I'm able to wipe teams Easier with shotguns. (Referring to trials)

Snipers must have map awareness, situational awareness, and good pre-aim/ drag scope skills to use effectively. I would like to say that I am not talking about campers. If you are sitting in a corner the whole map with a sniper or a shotgun you should just kill yourself. Lol
-
Sniping requires more gun skill but shotguns require more tactical skill like map awareness and proper spacing.
-
You must aim accurately with snipers. Shotguns require more skill than they did before, but with shotguns you do not need to aim like that.
-
1 ReplySnipers take more skill to use aggressively. Shotguns are aggressive any way. All depends on play style. A back of map sniper usually isn't a very good one unless it calls for it such as the other team gained map control and he's just defending his area but to stay there the whole game is a dick move. Shotguns take less skill to kill someone that overextended into close range and can be used effectively by almost anyone. Yet a top tier shotgun user closes gaps so fast it's almost impossible to counter. The dump guy constantly charging in with a shotgun is a bad player, a good one will come from strange angles, bait you into doorways ext. All in all it depends and there is no right answer.

Going unbroken with a shotgun now would be harder, high risk high reward, snipers low risk low reward. Nuff said

1 ReplyI vote snipers because I sniped through all the hell that was Year 1 crucible, without switching to a shotgun. Thorn and last word 2 shot kills? I learned to snipe them faster. Shotguns? I learned to snipe CQC. Pulse rifles staggering you immensely? I learned to readjust on the fly. Shotguns had their time. And now that they are gone, as well as the rest of those obstacles, the real snipers are showing just how deadly they can be with nothing holding them back. It is glorious and true vengeance for all those who have persevered.

1 ReplySnipers are stupidly op with aim assist they need to have no aim assist at all imo

So, basically, camping a corner, crutched with a shotgun

Pssh fusion rifle pros got my vote

Because snipers require precision, they're constantly under threat of being flanked (unless they have third eye), you usually don't get that big a magazine, you suffer from recoil and you'll lose most close range battles and primaries like scout rifles and pulse rifles can possibly outgun you (along with very high range hand cannons like the Ace of Spades with its middle perk). Since shotguns don't have any very close, high DPS primary counterparts, they're more likely to win close range encounters than snipers will at long range. Really that's enough :)
-
Everyone needs to shut up about aim assist. I bet half the people complaining about them don't even know what it is. Regardless of aim assist, sniping takes a lot more skill because most maps are not long ranged and it requires a headshot to get a kill whereas shotguns have a large enough radius and can kill at the body.
-
1 ReplyTo be consistently good with either takes skill. Whichever one you favour is largely a matter of preferred play style.
-
I suck with shotguns, and suck with snipers, but suck less with shotguns.

People who use shotguns as primary are skrubz

Its much easier to adapt to shotgunning from sniping than the other way around.
