So what the hell is this new requirement that I'm seeing for 318+ on the recruitment forums. Jeezus! I have a 319 and 318 so I don't have trouble getting into events but this is seriously out of hand. Couple of weeks ago it was 310 then 315 now 318 after this weeks challenge everyone will be required to be 320 for invites to challenges, raids, and possibly iron banner of this keeps up. I understand the loot is good but don't leave out the casuals that want to get this done too. I know 310's that die less in endgame than most random 318s. Is anyone else high light level like me that thinks this is kind of too much or am I just an old school player that is stuck in thinking bringing a 29 into a 32 raid isn't a big deal?

Edit: Trending and 99% good response wow didn't expect that.
Edit: to the people telling me to make a group, I have and generally do. I don't have problems making groups or joining being 319 318 and 316 (slacking on my warlock)
Edit: over 1300 responses and still trending on third day. I must have struck a nerve in our community. Keep up the great responses.

I'll play hard mode with anyone over 310+....but I did do the challenge mode 3 times every week and the smoothest run was with a group that all rocked 317+. We work so well together that we formed a regular Tuesday night group. When you're that high of a level it normally means you've put in work and you're a solid player. Which equal you not wasting my time.

I have to agree and I'm an elitist. I require 311+ but 318 is just unreasonable.
-
5 RepliesIf you're not 315+ by now, at least by moving gear from your other Alts, then you likely don't have enough experience with the raid to do challenge mode as smoothly as others that do. This isn't true for all players of course, but when dealing with randoms it's just easier. I did challenge first try with a group of 317-319s from fresh. We wiped twice the entire raid.

1 ReplyIt's idiotic. First of all, the light level of your character (the average of all your items) only affects level based penalty modifiers. DPS output is determined by the light level of your weapon, with a penalty applied if your avg light level is significantly lower than that of your target. In other words, a 318 light character with a 310 Touch of Malice will actually do about the same or even less damage than a 315 character with a 320 Touch of Malice. In essence, it just shows the ignorance of the person posting the requirement.

And? This whiny Bullshit needs to stop. So -blam!-ing what if they want that? My last requirement was must have pink srl shader. Want to know what? My -blam!-ing Fireteam. I can do that

2 RepliesI hit 319..., so even tho I qualify I would no doubt pass on any team asking for this. I'll take my chances with lower light levels and cool peeps.

This is not my post originally...but it belongs here in reply to you: HERE: kenyx13 Dec 4 at 9:01:41 AM Permalink This is a non-issue. The recruitment section is a free market of buyers and sellers. If someone is selling a checkpoint with bodies included they make the price. If people don't have the goods there is options. Option one: Keep shopping until you find a group more fitting. Option two: become a seller. The American way, roll up your sleeves, do your own work, build your own product and under cut the competition. Stop playing a victim stop crying.

that would suck as none of my characters are 318 and that is after completing challenge mode every week and 2 oryx challenge kills so far this week
-
It is just what the people of Destiny do, before it was gally, then TOM and now 318+

Edited by NYDIBS: 12/17/2015 6:20:17 PMI can understand a requirement of 310+ I dont think theres any difference between 312 and 318 though Especially since most went get up that high until after completing the Oryx challenge
-
I'm 311 and I was doing sherpa to 316+ for the oryx challange.needless to say that we didn't do it since I was always the last one dying.
-
Did the challenge last night on hard mode with my 308 titan and there was 5 others between 312-317. I don't understand why people are such little bitches when it comes to playing a damn game. Grow a pair of balls and play with a real group of players

318 is casual? Oh man

Problem is never light. It's people who don't listen or just aren't good. I always laugh at light requirements. We carried a 293 through oryx normal and did challenge. He never died, a couple of the 306 people did die... This trend happened for the whole raid... It's been around since year one. Unfortunately when people post these ridiculous requirements it's almost always an indication that they have issues on their own team. I never request more that 300 normal and 312 hard. I've seen people post 315+ warpriest normal and I just have to laugh at how bad they must be...

I don't have problems making groups or joining being 319 318 and 316 (slacking on my warlock)[/quote] Yep, this is driving me nuts, I had a friend ask me to join a hard raid when I was a 303, and he had another guy in there that was a 299. We went pretty close to flawless to the sisters and then the 299 (who had gotten to 301) had some trouble understanding the mechanics of the fight and we had a couple wipes but we got it done and called it since we started at midnight and at 1:30 most of us needed a little sleep before work the next day. The most interesting part for me was that I did not yet have ToM but I was 2 nd or 3rd in damage to the sisters using 1kys in spite of being second lowest light by a margin of 10. Now I get to 313 and getting in a group seems even harder. With a wife and 2 kids in sports on top of a 60 hour per week job I am a little slow to the max light party. I do well in PvE, but I am crap in PvP and have not wished my crap skills in 3v3 on any group so I have never done trials. Uh, this sounds like a whiny rant, sorry.

I just ask for exp if its hard and then i help people run thru normal

Edited by Andy: 12/17/2015 6:04:22 PMwhy do you care if this doesn't affect you? why is it always people that are high light levels complaining?
-
1 ReplyEdited by Acts7: 12/17/2015 6:00:22 PMI don't like the requirements but the reason is that oryx is 320 and the only know strat for oryx challenge is not letting ogres move at all which requires a lot of dps.
-
2 RepliesI could care less about light level. If we loose a guy and I post LFG, I always put the same level as the lowest guy in the fireteam as a requirement. Don't know why people require certain light levels anyway, the rate they are giving 320 gear away there is an influx of guardians who were 300-305 breaking 310 and wanting to do hard raid now. We did the oryx challenge Tuesday with a 312 who had never done hard mode. Instead of kicking him or giving him a hard time, WE TAUGHT HIM HOW so that now he knows the mechanics and how to do it. Rather you are willing to admit it or not guardians, someone carried your ass through the raid once and you didn't have a clue what was going on. Instead of being pricks and looking at light (which means nothing), TEACH PEOPLE HOW and LFG won't be full of noobs, it will fill up with guardians who have a clue. If anyone needs help getting through hard mode, shoot me a message, I'd be glad to help. The point is to get the raid finished, not measure dicks.

1 ReplyI love the ridiculous requirements, it lets me know what groups to avoid. I play for fun, it isn't life or death. I would rather have a good time and wipe a few times than be in a group with elitist asshats that die and blame everything except themselves for screwing up. The journey is more important than the destination people. If you have fun along the way you will find that the end result doesn't really matter.
-
I got kicked out yesterday cuz they wanted 316 and I was 315.. Can you tell me what the damage difference or matter or fact 1 light level is gonna hurt??
-
I agree with 318+. Way to many scrubs are getting high level gear from racing, banner, trials. At this point you could be 319 without ever raiding. The high requirement will hopefully weed out sum of the non devoted raiders. 318+, spindle, malice and emblem, that's who I look to join
