I thought EA was bad, but bungie is probably the worst and most greedy game corporation I've witnessed in a while. as gamers, we need to wake up and stop buying into this corporate fckery.

think about the way other games do micro transactions and DLC's. think about how bungie decided to basically say "hey, this money we're getting is going to fund future events! and DLC!" but this isn't even real content nor is it even remotely close to DLC. This is stuff they had all drawn up and ready to go already and time gated and put on a schedule to make you think they actually put work into coding all of these experiences for you. what bungie did was promise us real content but what they actually gave us were empty promises. like waking up on Christmas morning to getting a few pairs of socks from santa. and then you go to school the next day and realize Santa loves rich kids a whole lot more than he loves you. the reality of the situation is that most other games use money from the one time purchase of a season pass to fund years of content. look at titles like fallout 4 (bethesda said they'd be funding the next two two years worth of fallout 4 DLC with the money from their $30 season passes) , ESO, GTA V (completely free DLC), Battlefield 4, etc. the list goes on and on. what could possibly make the situation worse? this content which we are paying way more than we should be for is actually being hidden behind a pay wall. there should be no pay wall. anybody from year 1 who owns TTK has paid at least $100 to play this game for the last year. a single year!even the most widely known money Grubbing company (EA) doesn't take things this far guys. wake up. they do micro transactions too, but at least most of the stuff they sell, you can earn though just playing the game (like fifa coins, packs, etc.). TLDR: we, as gamers, need to wake up to this corporate tomfoolery and stop being taken advantage of. stop throwing your money away because it's hurting this game more and more each day. maybe you don't think it's being wasted, but it's definitely not being put to good use. and you could get more bang from your buck doing other things with the money you're throwing at a screen with a picture of destiny on it. how do you do this you ask? don't pre-order destiny 2 or any paid DLC! and don't immediately buy it after release. wait a few days first and see what other people think of it. make informed purchases. and the problem will eventually get better. please share/sign/comment if you think this should be trending

  • No one is being forced to buy their micro transactions content, they just put it out there and know the consumer will buy it up, and sadly it's going to keep happening. .I just wonder what the next one will be..it should be a big bang of one for Christmas

  • So true. EA was terrible but they seem to have straighten out a bit. Bungie is going downhill fast and it's a shame cos this game is amazing. Looking back at year one it was the most fun I've had in a video game. This year is terrible. No memories and not content. And sooo many micro transactions. That's okay in games like Guild Wars 2 or Neverwinter. It just seems like all these festivals and content are quick cash grabs. It truly is a shame when this game had soooo much going for it. :(

  • To put EA / Destiny micro transactions in perspective, I usually spend two or three thousand dollars opening FIFA packs a year.

Just a small point, but GTA Online DLC was funded by micro transactions. They talked about it in one of their news updates a while back.

    • Dont worry, I wont be buying another Bungie game... I learned my lesson... Only reason I got so excited about Destiny is bc I loved Halo, it's apparent Bungie has changed a lot from those days.

        • I could be mistaken, so stop me if I'm wrong, but the main goal of a corporation is to make money. That's it... It's called capitalism. Technology is expensive. I love how people bring up old games to justify low cost video games with content. It was made at a time when the costs were less and economic inflation was less. companies have a bottom line and they will either do what they are doing to make a profit or they won't make the video game. So all of you can complain all you want about the costs and content of video games, but the bottom line is there is no scenario in which you get a bigger, better game for less money. It will never happen.

            • EA is a PUBLISHER. You know who is Destiny's publisher? ACTIVISION. Publishers are greedy, not developers. (Typically)

            • EA is a publisher, not a developer. Without them, there'd be no cash for people like Bungie to make their insanely expensive -blam!-ups with. Don't hate too much on them - loaning money isn't a safe business these days.

            • EA = Publisher Bungie = Developer Just wanted to put that out there. Both are pretty greedy companies, but I would point fingers at Activision for the most part. Bungie was never trash talked this much when they were making Halo. I mean we all know that the Bungie that made Halo isn't the same Bungie that made Halo, but who's the one that has had a pretty shitty rep longer, Activision or Bungie? Besides, who is the one that won Worst Company of the Year for multiple consecutive years?
Electronic Arts
Splitting what should be a single game into parts for DLC, misinforming user base regarding patch changes, arrogant community managers who fail to acknowledge genuine issues raised by consumers, tweaking the game when players are progressing too quickly, mind numbing repetition, micro-transactions scope creep with exclusive armour behind a pay wall, Fanboy apologists who defend the game in the vain hope bungie will notice them and offer employment, real events that will not equate in value to the money spent by players on silver (slightly unfair as we've yet to see the upcoming events but based on previous behaviour I'll be cynical) , being forced to play the game how they want you to play it with tweaks to weapons and exotic weapon quests that require co-op, the dark below, refer a friend desperation, the dark below, only one good raid in the game and slot machine loot reward system encouraging addictive play. That is corporate cockery of the highest order. They are taking a game that has really good facets and perverting it for greed. Bungie were the guys who made Halo, a great game. I think that's all they will ever be remembered for as I don't see any indication of them changing their approach to destiny. Invest money in other game developers who don't use these tactics.

-Just my opinion- I'm sure the primary source of this situation is Activision, but I'm not going to rule out Bungie's involvement. Who's to say that they weren't in agreement about a lot of this? Bad thing is, we'll likely never know the full truth about who was ok with this and who wasn't. I've been a fan of the company since Halo, but the staff now could be very different than the original team.
