I thought EA was bad, but bungie is probably the worst and most greedy game corporation I've witnessed in a while. as gamers, we need to wake up and stop buying into this corporate fckery.
think about the way other games do micro transactions and DLC's. think about how bungie decided to basically say "hey, this money we're getting is going to fund future events! and DLC!" but this isn't even real content nor is it even remotely close to DLC. This is stuff they had all drawn up and ready to go already and time gated and put on a schedule to make you think they actually put work into coding all of these experiences for you. what bungie did was promise us real content but what they actually gave us were empty promises. like waking up on Christmas morning to getting a few pairs of socks from santa. and then you go to school the next day and realize Santa loves rich kids a whole lot more than he loves you.
the reality of the situation is that most other games use money from the one time purchase of a season pass to fund years of content. look at titles like fallout 4 (bethesda said they'd be funding the next two two years worth of fallout 4 DLC with the money from their $30 season passes) , ESO, GTA V (completely free DLC), Battlefield 4, etc. the list goes on and on.
what could possibly make the situation worse? this content which we are paying way more than we should be for is actually being hidden behind a pay wall. there should be no pay wall. anybody from year 1 who owns TTK has paid at least $100 to play this game for the last year. a single year!even the most widely known money Grubbing company (EA) doesn't take things this far guys. wake up. they do micro transactions too, but at least most of the stuff they sell, you can earn though just playing the game (like fifa coins, packs, etc.).
TLDR: we, as gamers, need to wake up to this corporate tomfoolery and stop being taken advantage of. stop throwing your money away because it's hurting this game more and more each day. maybe you don't think it's being wasted, but it's definitely not being put to good use. and you could get more bang from your buck doing other things with the money you're throwing at a screen with a picture of destiny on it. how do you do this you ask? don't pre-order destiny 2 or any paid DLC! and don't immediately buy it after release. wait a few days first and see what other people think of it. make informed purchases. and the problem will eventually get better.

8 RepliesI've generally maintained at least one MMO subscription over the years to the tune of about $160 per year, not counting the box prices. Destiny is cheap in comparison. And more fun than most.

EA SIM city no refund policy when game rolled out and servers were not up. So people who purchased the game could not play it and could not get refunds. Battlefield 4 netcode hit detection unresolved 9 months after release. EA reason for not allowing people to get refunds was that it would jeopardize marketing claims. Only AFTER multiple media outlets reported the backlash and states threatened lawsuits (states not individual users) did EA finally admit their no refunds policy would change. If you don't like a business practice of a company don't let them get away with it. Will always remind people of EA business practice not purchase their products any more. Personally do not purchase silver it doesn't interest me. Posting here where people have already purchased game is less effective than posting on other game sites where people who might purchase game can benefit from hearing about your experience.

The fact you say bungie is worse than EA is laughable. EA is by far the worst company in existence (even worse than COMCAST!!!!!). I'll take what we've got over EA any day. Also, I won't spend any money on Bungie's micros because I don't want to but I won't shame those who do.

Theres one huge difference between Destiny and the games you mentioned, im no longer playing any of those games, if anything i should pissed off at all those games because i didnt get my money's worth, they just simply didnt entertain me long enough for me to stick around and care for the game, Destiny has given me somewhere around 3000 hrs of entertainment so i cant really whine about not getting what i paid for, so far ive gotten a hell of a deal out of this investment. When theres a supply demand no company in america is going to give it for free, i want more and it seems a lot of other people do as well and if i have to pay for them to give me more im happy to because i know i will get my money's worth and more. Maybe this will help you see it for what it really is, maybe not but you cant argue the fact that its a pretty good point.

Overall, all Destiny content has cost me £69: Got original game with console, no extra cost Bought collector edition which included expansion 1 & 2 for £40 Sold original for £11 Bought TTK for £40 Based on the time I've played from the app stats, each hour I've played has cost me 37p and is continually decreasing the longer I play. And, I'm not even factoring things like exchange rates. Money well spent, value for money, call it what you will. But the numbers don't lie.

With these microtrans you have a choice to pay or not, if not you are getting free content. You're welcome!

Yeah OP is totally right! Why would any company want to make money. It's stupid they should just keep giving us free things over and over again. In fact I'm going to stop supporting every company that is out to make money.

5 RepliesDon't forget, this is an online only game and they are not charging a monthly subscription! Used to love WOW but the monthly fee for a player who could only play a couple times a week was outrageous! Passed on EOS since they had originally planned on making it subscription based. I did buy it thought after they decided to wave the subscription. My only issue with Bungie, is their consistent nerfs and limited world exploration. Some people forget, these "Online" games have a HUGE expensive infrastructure! There is a shit ton of hardware behind Destiny that needs to stay covered!
