To the 310+ only groups for WarPriest Challenge Mode:

TL: DR Version: Light Level does NOT equal experience, so the 310+ only group posters need to get off their pedestal. I have lots of raid experience in Destiny. I have 3-316 characters and 3-low 300 characters. The link to my main GT's stats are provided above. I decided to attempt the Heroic WarPriest Challenge Mode, so I went to LFG in search of a group to join. Yes, I am aware it is that groups choice who or who not to invite. Anyways, I finally came across a group of 308+ guardians who invited my 305 Warlock and we gave the WarPriest a shot. I did my job - I killed all the ads on the right side, then worked my way to the middle to help finish off their ads and hallowed knight. From the start, people were standing in the open getting killed by the WarPriest, killing the adept before the acolytes and somebody getting killed, but the biggest issue seemed to be with the brand. Nobody seemed to know how to use it, and time and time again people were dying from it. One after another, people would die because they were unfamiliar with the brand, and by the end of the first cycle we were already down to 3, so naturally we would wipe again. I couldn't understand it. These high-level guardians were struggling with the WarPriest, and we are wiping over and over again because of rookie mistakes. I stayed with the group, but eventually everybody disbanded. I think it's funny how so many people are requesting 310+ for a HM challenge group. Even 310+ for a NM raid group. Doesn't matter if they're experienced, they just have to be 310+. I guess it's the elitist part of the Destiny community that makes people feel important. For the record, I'm not whining about whether or not these people are inviting me to their game. I'm merely pointing out that too many people need to over-compensate with high-light characters when the raid is doable at a lower light. I've been in raid groups with all 315's who were very inexperienced. Many did not know how to use the brand on WarPriest, take gaze at Golgoroth, run the relic on Daughters/Oryx, and have a difficult time figuring out the direction of counter-clockwise. At the same time, I've raided with some pretty low guardians and we could clear the entire raid on the first go because everybody knew what to do. Sorry to burst your bubble, but RNG isn't a reflection of skill or experience, it is a reflection of luck. Your elite team of 310+ guardians to complete the challenge mode means nothing if your team has no idea what to do and/or can't stay alive long enough to kill the WarPriest. The number of Sherpas or people willing to raid with lower light levels is dwindling. I understand people's time is valuable, and many people just want to get it done in the easiest way possible. But that's how so many people get sick of Destiny so quickly. They stop playing to have fun, and start playing for the rewards. EDIT 1: Just completed the HM challenge on my Warlock with the help of my normal raid team. Thanks for the people who were cool and wrote something constructive. As for the rest, you are the reason why this community has become so toxic. EDIT 2: Just completed the HM challenge on my Titan with some randoms as a 302. The next lowest was a 310 or 311. After about 8 attempts, we finally completed it. As a 302, I died once (with the exception of wipes). Maybe the elitists should think about that next time you're asking for 310+ in your raid group and a lower level asks for an invite. Give the 305 the benefit of a doubt and shoot him an invite. Your chances of wasting time with a 305 could very much be the same as the 315 you prefer to invite instead. EDIT 3: Thank you to all the trolls for making me the center of your pathetic lives. EDIT 4: 524 views in about 12 hours. It seems as though I've hit a nerve with the elitists in this community! If you are a higher light level, that's great. I applaud you for having RNGesus on your side. If you are skilled and experienced, that's even better. However, experience doesn't mean raiding with all high-light level guardians. If you truly have enough raid experience, you should have no problem bringing in someone who has never done the raid before. Teach them what you know - teach them the mechanics of the raid, help them through their first KF raid, and be a part of their first Oryx kill. Pass your experience onto another player. If you can do this, you truly are an experienced raider and the satisfaction you will receive from sherpa'ing another guardian to their first Oryx kill will be much more rewarding than any 320 raid drop. However, if all you can do is raid with a team of 315+ on Heroic KF, there's a good chance that someone on your team is expecting another player to pick up the slack for them.

    • If you don't like the requirements people set, host your own raid.

      • I still Sherpa people through all the time. Used my 317 hunter to help a group guys with the first ever kings fall last night. It's just satisfying hear them all cheer when they get good drops to increase in light after they struggle to learn each part. Love helping out once I've got my drops for the week.

Moral is I did get one group everyone was over 310 but me and I died 2 times the hole raid while I watched everyone die all the time o ya and I only died at the sisters because they were not slamming the right daughter or slamming them and not getting to the group and orix as a 309 at the end and never died

          • HM WP is easy, and golgoroth is even easier. WP just takes knowing how go use the brand, and how to crit the boss. Golg was almost 4 manned last night by my team, on hard. We got to 10% left before we ran out of ammo drops. You could literally carry a sixth person through WP and even golg. The elitism is rubbish, and the light requirements is rubbish. By 315 I expect you to know what you are doing. Even being dead you see the gist of the mechs..

            • I find that in most cases it is faster to teach someone who has no idea what to do in the raid at all and then do the raid then it is to do it with those elitists

                • Did it as a 304 warlock. By the time we got to Oryx, I was 310. Tried to join a group today as a 307 Hunter. Wasted an hour on the forums because everyone wanted 310+. This community can be so short sighted.

                  • "killing the adept before the acolytes" This does not matter has the still die in a couple shots. So tired of noobs saying kill the adepts last because I'm a scrub and can't kill normies fast enough.

                    • to be honest i dont think its always an elitest thing, sometimes ill ask for 310+ just because it should technically be slightly easier (more dps and should be harder to die) of course you got good and bad players all over the place, doesn't matter what light level they are. but on most days i dont aways have hours and hours to play, so i ask for higher light lvl people. doesnt always mean a quick raid tho, most of my friends are alot lower then me in light level, but they are just as skilled, and i would raid with them over a bunch of 315+ people who think they are good, when in actual fact they are not, they where just lucky with RNG.

                    • It's fine if people are under 310 if they know what to do and have decent weapons. But 310+ allows for a higher chance of getting players with a lot of experience. Some people don't have the time to wipe over and over so they adjust their requirements so that even if they don't get great players, those players will still have the light to try and hold their own.

                    • The reason why we call for 310+ is so that we don't have to deal with damage reduction, I try not to kick people but I want 310+ because i wanna do the whole raid with the same group

                    • Bump. The reason I got my Characters up to 315+ was to even it out with lower light levels so for all 310+ who only want other 310+ your just doing it cause you want to be carried like a scrub

                    • It's the same phenomenon from when Crota was the big bad wold. Nobody could use the sword and nobody wanted anyone but Hunters to do it. The best teams are versatile and are willing to do everything. I can't tell you how many times I've had to take gaze, while fighting Golgroth, on the fly because time was running out. I don't like taking gaze all that much, but sometimes it's necessary yah know?
