Sort the red bars out!!!!
It's beyond a joke, no I'm not raging cause I lost I'm pissed off cause my favourite game Is been ruined by tossers that feel the need to have a piece of string for an Internet connection or are doing it intentionally!!! Please ban these pricks I spend half the game reporting them ffs!!

Seems to be getting worse all the time. You'd think this being a potential 10 year effort that they'd go ahead and install dedicated servers. You know why they won't, cause it would cost them $$$. Shit, they won't even address it on these forums or Twitter and that costs nothing. You all keep talking about web speed but that had little to do with the problem. When you start to red bar look at your link errors and your ping. If you have errors and your ping is above 100 there's an issue. Dedicated servers would fix this but I doubt it gets done. I'm like a lot of you and feel it's more in the code Bungie uses for matchmaking. Other games don't seem to have the issue near as much, nor a list of the entire animal kingdom of error codes. Just rework your matchmaking code Bungie!!!

Red bars are the wrong name to call these people. Red barring doesn't always mean lagging. Someone can be red barring without lagging at all. Me as someone who has some of the best internet they can get around my place, can say that sometimes I red bar too, and I bet you can say that as well. We all red bar. But that doesn't mean we all lag. Remember destiny has player based connections. It could only take 3 guys with shit connection to make the entire lobby red bar. However it's just making your ping weak, that doesn't mean making your actual connection weak. So no, red barring is not the word you're looking for. [i]laggers[/i] are the name you should call these people. Because both are very different. When I see a red bar, I don't really care. For all I know, they could have the worlds best internet but their Ping is simply brought down by another player's connection in he lobby. Weapon I see a lagger, who is clearly lagging, I will report them for bad connection. If I see someone who is using their lag greatly to their advantage, and many times I make certain that they are, then I will report for cheating.

6 RepliesSo let me explain a little something. Not everyone that has a red bar can do something about it. I have the best internet in my area and the best speeds I can pull at any given time is 1mb download. It sucks and I can barely play destiny. So, I haven't because I don't want to ruin the game for my friends and people like you who always complain about red bars. Not all of us can do something about it.

2 RepliesSo many dumb-blam!-s in here that don't understand networking. Your 100mb internet doesn't mean shit. You can play this game on a 5mb connection with no lag as long as you have a good ping. Ping is the time it takes for data to reach the sever it is going to. Your connection "speed" is how much data you can transfer at once. If you have two connections with 40 ms ping, one is 5mb and the other is 100, they will send the same 1500 byte (yes bytes, hence mtu size) packet at the exact same speed. This means it will arrive at the exact same time. There isn't actually that much data streaming when you play pvp. It sends some numbers that your console translates to other people's movements and their bullets and whatnot.

I agree. every single game I pay now 90% of players are red bar skipping bout the screen. So annoying.

Not everyone has an option to get good internet. Bad connection is more on bungie than anyone else considering they don't even have dedicated servers.

The MAXIMUM speed available in my area atm, is 25mbps, I currently get around 8 (government is stalling on installing fibre) It's slow as fk but there's no other option.. Why should someone like me be unable to play a game that's an international game? If the start banning people for that, they should expect a lot of refunds... I've played since day 1 (beta) and there's never really been a problem, I've never really come across people who are butt hurt about it...

I have really good internet service. Xfinity is the best you can get in my area and I pay for the fastest speeds, but I still get a red bar from time to time.

7 RepliesI play destiny nost days using a Galaxy S3 mini as the wifi spot without any issues, and that is easily the worst phone I've ever owned, so it's usually people doing so intentionally. No need to ban everyone.

I have very good internet. No matter what I always red bar during crucible (I'm not good anyway) so I only play it when I have to for quests

I was complaining about lag and GOD invincible juggernaut players from day 1 and so did thousands of other players. Bungie don't care. Players (mostly noobs with bad connections) giving answers like: "Maybe it's your skills". Mostly, people with good connections are beiing punished. I don't play crucible any more, but i do play COD BO3, where i have an average k/d of 2.69, in hardcore mode even 5.5 k/d :) For me a proof that Crucible is a big joke.

Every game I have works great online. Especially the ones with DEDICATED SERVERS. Just because someone red bars, doesn't mean it's their fault. They're likely getting their connection throttled because the games using them as the host. I see a red bar in EVERY match. You might go from green to red to yellow to green again. It probably happens to you too. When (if) Bungie finally gets dedicated servers, you won't see this happen so much.
