Let me just say i started the game a week ago, leveled from 1 to 40 and currently have a light level of 249. I've played plenty of shooters including CoD, BF, CSGO, killing floor, battlefront, and others. I've also played just about any mmo pvp out there, wow, war, swtor, aion, rift.
Now I just spent a solid 15 hours in the crucible trying to get better, trying to do the daily and the bounties really just to get better gear. I've must have played 40 matches and lost every single one! and what i see is the same thing, some dude with a hand cannon with a 5 kill streak one shooting everyone. Or my favorite getting OHKO by a melee when mine takes like 3 hits.... Or (and i swear this happened 10 min before i posted this) blowing my stormtrance and attacking this one guy that apparently had enough time to switch to his sniper rifle, and OHKO me in trance! completely wasted trance. And every single match I'm about mid way on the killed, around top 3rd or 4th.
I don't think i'm bad but seriously whats the deal! is pvp suppose to be this unforgiving to new comers? am I not suppose to go into the crucible or is there something for new people? I see people say gear doesn't matter but from what i've experienced thats a bold face lie! How do I progress if I need a certain reputation / legendary marks for gear, and every item i've won at the end of these matches have been considerably weaker than what i currently have?
I am blowing off steam here, but i'm also being serious. losing match after match after match for hours on end gets very discouraging. And I would love to get better, I'd love to actually enjoy pvp.

1 ReplyThere's a hell of curve in the crucible. You go from terrible, terrible, terrible...to all of a sudden understanding how to play and everything is fine. When I started pvp I had a kd around 0.3-0.4 until I got the pace of the game and found the weapons and subclass that fit me and my style

Don't worry. The multiplayer in this game is broken and becomes worse as this community cries for nerf.

1 ReplyEdited by Defiler of sylok: 12/5/2015 6:06:00 AMI'm sorry truly sorry. I went into classic 3v3 and went against some new players and holy Jesus -blam!- I massacred them like 25+ kills in a salvage match? I even let them capture two so mercy wouldn't apply God I'm a monster I didn't know it affected people like this... I'm putting my cannon down I'm sorry guardians Just for reference the game was on my Titan on widows court if you'd like to check 26 kills to be exact

The attack values do not matter but perks do. There is definitely a learning curve with this game. You need to learn the maps, how/when to super and what gear/perks work with your play style.
-
Serious tip, play 3v3 modes. Even the best players detest 6v6 n all the BS it entails.

poor you

2 RepliesI stopped reading at 40 matches and lost every single one, that's when you know that YOURE the problem. Get good or get off the game
-
It's a more casual game mode with slightly lower average time to kill and mechanics that allow one hit kills. You usually need to a use one hit kills or fast ttk guns to have fun. It's not balanced but it's fun to be the person with a decent set up
-
You're just not very good. Play something else
-
True. Ttk ruined crucible in every single possible way
-
It's not something to take lightly. No melee in the game will OHK you, so you must have taken damage. All melees 2 hit kill. Snipers OHK on a headshot if they have high impact. Activate storm trance strategically and use ionic blink when you get it. Some people are just really good and can pull out their sniper and headshot you.
-
Dude. Play Crysis 3 after the dlc hit. You'll then see unbalanced. Rhino shotgun took the best parts of all shotguns and mixed them into one gun. Imagine an Felwinters plus Invective and you got yourself a Rhino. It dropped everything aside from a guy with Max Nanosuit going killstreak going
-
Crucible is an unbalanced mess and will be until Bungie removes/fixes overshields, damage resistance. health regen, Warlock melee range, and ridiculous splash damage. These things should never be in PvP. You're better off playing something else.

Shit. That was November 25th. Its December 5th. Why do I reply to week old posts.... =„=

I used to feel the same way. Every now and again a shotgunner will annoy me. And every now and then a group of shotgunners will seriously tick me off. But its part of the game. Part of way people play. In fact. I used to hate anyone who used special weapons. Thats how I was when I was a noob. I hated ALL Special Weapons. Especially Fusion Rifles. Shotguns didnt bother me because I come from Battlefield, Mass Effect, Dust 514, a little CoD, where shotguns are varied and changed. Destiny and CoD have the same Shotgun Game. Meanwhile if Destiny was like Mass Effect, you wouldnt believe the hatemail you'd see up here. A shotgun in Mass Effect can kill one enemy on the OTHER SIDE of the map, Shotgun Sniping. Of course with the right shotgun, perks, and abilities. Battlefield, where, in my opinion, shotguns are VERY balanced. Thats why I compare so many games to Battlefield. I am a proud, biased, lover of Battlefield. But in serous retrospects, not all games will be the same. Same goes for Destiny. Not every match will be the same. Not every player will have 4th Horseman. In a mysterious way, Destiny is made of a terrible RNG System that even the players themselves are a part of. I am an experienced player now and can easily get at least 5 kills. Unless my internet decides to f+ck me over and lag worse than an old TV. Well, You should feel better about it once you get yourself some personally picked rare weapons, and some practice in Open World PvE. I say Rare weapons because not all good guns are necessarily legendary and exotic. ;3

4 RepliesListen to Crucible Radio podcast. Look up some videos from guys like True Vanguard and Planet Destiny. Play the game defensively. Adapt to the current meta (pulse rifles right now). Get used to losing a lot until you get VERY comfortable with your surroundings and your guns and your abilities. I've been playing for about 8 months and for the past few I've been playing a lot of crucible and trying to take it seriously. I am just now at the point where I can confidently say that I am good and can hold my own. Still growing and learning everyday but I don't treat it as a grind. I think crucible is really fun and I enjoy the experience. If I ever get too frustrated I just stop playing for the day because if it's not fun its not worth it.

It's a farce of a pvp.

2 RepliesEdited by Speck311: 12/5/2015 7:46:04 AMAs soon as you get better the "skill-based" matchmaking will put you in laggy China/Euro matches. Don't bother.
-
Play in patrol. Get used to precision hits/kills against the enemies you encounter and get a feel for weapons you're most comfortable with. I did this when I completed King's Fall (raid) for the first time and had to adapt to pulse rifles as the Smite of Merain (raid pulse rifle) was my strongest weapon at the time for PvE use. I know a level 6-10 dreg or vandal isn't the most challenging thing to shoot, but it builds comfort level with the aiming mechanics [and that's a start in any FPS ].

3 RepliesThey made Destiny with pve in mind first, then slapped pvp on after the fact. It's still fun in pvp but not as balanced as something like BF, CoD, or Halo where pvp is the main focus and pve is basically just a bonus

1 ReplyI'd just like to say mate that I was awful at destiny pvp when I first started.. N I'm good at FPS games..any of them, I did more or less all the content in destiny before I went back to pvp I hated it so much, it was relentless, I just kept getting killed over and over.. Then when I ran out of things to do o started to play crucible with a few mates, have a laugh but just try to get better..then the realisation that certain guns are just better or more suited to your play style... Once I got that n I played it more and more I started racking up the kills.. Getting 10-15 kill streaks now comes every other game, trust me if you play FPS games u will get better and it won't be long until you are destroying people in crucible, stick at it if u enjoy it mate and good luck!

Internet speed. And head shots... There is definitely problems but its not so broken you can't adjust. Ttk is slower then Cod so you can't always go running in guns blazing and certain guns do better then others and certain ranges. So until the December update pick up a low impact high stability high rate of fire pulse rifle and aim for the head. Best of luck.
-
Sounds about right. I didn't become top tier OP meta man until I got my broken guns.
-
2 RepliesYour not the only one. I have fast internet and the game still seems f d up. I'm not sure what's wrong but it's definitely not right.
-
1 ReplySeverely exaggerated story reveals itself when you say a guy is one shotting with a hand cannon. Every hc in destiny.other than, hawkmoon and the first curse can even two shot, and even then, it's under special circumstance....

You don't get better playing 15 straight hours; you get better by understanding the game mode and working on your technique. Guns blazing doesn't really work in my opinion, you have to pick engagements and try to predict and out-think your opponents. This game focuses more on team play than anything else. Lastly, check out some of the content found on Reddit and Planet Destiny. Once you have a understanding of weapons, perks, and abilities, you will begin to improve.
