In every game that I've ever play, as far as I can remember, I've always tried playing differently from the majority. I just don't like playing the same as everyone else and I have more fun playing my way than winning or having a high KD.
While I'm a decent player, probably a tad bit better than average, I still manage to do well and go positive most of the games I play equipped with weapons many would deem "crap".
For example, my favorite weapon has always been Hard Light and I've been playing since the beta. Lately, every since 2.0, I've been using the Fusion Rifle Long Far Gone and I'm loving it.
Although it's perks are better off in PvE, I have found that this particular FR gets constant one-hit-kills in PvP. It's got a fast charge rate and excellent stability.
Anyway, my point is, I don't play with Nerwin's Mercy or Hawsaw combined with 1000 yard stare or Conspiracy Theory because those are the best weapons that everyone else uses. I have no problem with anyone playing with them and I've gotten past calling for nerfs.
I wanna know if there are any like-minded guardians out there that share my play style.
Do you play with "crappy" weapons or some other way they basically handicaps you because you have more fun forging your own path?
Sound off Guardians.
Edit: To those of you that feel the need to call me a hipster. That's cool, labeling me doesn't change my opinions or make me feel bad so have at it. But if you're gonna comment, all I ask is please actually comment about the post. Otherwise, you're kinda an ass.

I just remember when last iron banner nirwins mercy was offered for sale and everyone was saying how horrible the rewards were and how sucky nirwins was. I bought the nerwins mercy from Saladin and started using and I loved it for the perks and the max stability. It wasn't until this iron banner that everyone started complaining about pulse rifles with the exception of red death. Now everyone is calling people who use nirwins mercy scrubby players who need a crutch. I liked the gun before the pulse rifle meta occurred and I will keep using it because of the perks and the awesome stability. It has become my favorite primary in pve as well.

2 RepliesI try to use different weapons for each class. Hunter uses handcannons, sniper Warlock uses scout or pulse rifles (generally scout) and fusion rifle Titan uses auto rifles and shotguns I do change them up depending on what I'm doing, but I find this differentiates the classes even more than how most people play.

1 ReplyMAKE A THREAD OF YOU GOING FLAWLESS IN TRIALS FOR THE FIRST TIME AND ADD ME IN IT
jk

but if I want do it
Eye is ! :D

Boolean Gemini for days!!

2 RepliesYou're probably a lot better than those who just pad their stats with the best guns in the old skirmish playlist. I like playing to character. Autos on titan, scouts on warlocks and handcannons on hunter in normal crucible. Of course in trials I tend to stick to hawksaw/nirwens mercy if I want to win. I also love using fusion rifles. I recently got destroyed by a guy who used a sidearm the whole iron banner game. That inspired me to try out sidearms.

Depends on the mood I'm and the game mode but yea love giving other weapons a go which are not part of the "meta" no better feeling than topping the tables using something which not many people would use During the thorn era I often did very well using the Mida
-
3 RepliesI don't think I do it intentionally but I play with odd weapons. I hate HCs, but I have been using the IB one. My favorite primary is dealbreaker. I still use auto rifles and I swear one on one same amount of health you can't beat me (narrow escape everytime). I whore n store fusions, love the DO one, don't like shottys and just recently used 1000yard stare. My favorite exotics were plan c and truth. Never really used thorn and icebreaker.
-
1 ReplyI feel you man. Nobody believes me when I say I never got even one kill with thorn when it was overpowered. The last time I used it was when the game first released and thorn "sucked"

1 ReplyWhen choosing weapons, I go with what I think suits my play style. In my weapons, I like a good combination of stability and recoil control. Second to that is the impact and rate of fire. That being said, I like hand cannons a lot. But since the nerf, I had to find alternatives. Until this Clash IB, I didn't think I'd find another hand cannon worthy, the Finnala's Peril. I think that I found the best PvP weapon in Skorri's Revenge. It's got both Rodeo and Counterbalance. Unfortunately, it was not meant to have a come back for Year 2. Lately too, I have been using Fusion rifles over shotguns. Telesto has been my #2 in the Clash IB. Not so bad at all. If it doesn't kill them immediately, it'll lower their health for my other teammates to come in for the kill.

1 ReplyLove this post. Just goes on to further prove my theory that it doesn't matter what you spec, or what gun you use. You'll always play better a majority of the time, if you play what you enjoy playing. Right on man!! =)

1 Reply"I'm slightly above average" You have a 1.6 K/D on your top character. I think you are selling yourself short a bit. I think that is pretty damn above average. Not just slightly above average.
-
1 ReplyHaha yea man, I can feel you on that one. It's why I 95% of the time run striker on my Titan in PvP, I haven't found a lot who run it, considering the induction of SB. That subclass is underrated but I like that I feel like I've got a good grasp of uses for it. Just wish everyone would stop telling me to run defender in the raid haha

Once hard light becomes year two, I'm gonna go see it's new, unmatched power.
-
1 ReplyYou're above the average if you don't cry for nerfs and actually play games for fun. That, regardless of what you use in game, is worth some respect to me.
-
3 RepliesShit man if you go positive majority of your games you are well above average.
-
1 ReplyI'm the exact same as you bro
-
I like using no land beyond and a side arm

I use the primary weapons I like or consider necessary for whatever I'm doing; regardless of how popular they are. My gripe is with special weapons mostly. I used to love shotguns because I enjoyed PvE over PVP, but in year 2 I've moved into the PvP sphere a bit more and have recently started to despise shotguns in PvP. Everyone is slipping and sliding and there doesn't seem to be any way to beat them before they get to you (which pissed me off because sidearms and fusion rifles should be the mid ranged counters). So in rebellion, I'm seeking out the best in fusion rifles and sidearms alike to see which ones can shut slide-gunners down. Play the game how you like and forget about the haters and naysayers because they are the ones you have probably killed!

I like rolling with VOC still and invective. I never have been into the heavies for pvp

4 RepliesThere are people who use what they want and are good or people who use weapons just because people say it's bad so they can be special snowflakes
-
I went with Boolean's this time around. SR's for life.
-
Haha totally agree with this post, AR's in y1 were so trolly and fun and so shameful to get killed by... It was great. Sometimes there has to be a dominant weapon type so that you can have fun instead of playing serious
-
I try running Hawkmoon (been using it since last November) and sidearms. I'm not the player that uses a weapon because it's better than something else, I just love my hawkmoon <3

1 ReplyI am somewhat like this. I use weapons that are used by the masses..BUT at the same time I like to be a trailblazer. I try to find weapons that are good but not many people know about them. For example when TTK first came out..OF my friends I was the first to tell them how good Dead Orbit's Hung Jury was...while most of my friends were bragging about the Gemini...ONce I saw a lot of people using that...I moved on to the Villany...Pulse rifle from FWC...I use Red Death and of course Hawksaw...but I use Villainy to be different from time to time. Right now I am working on leveling up my Imago Loop...I have one with ranger finder and third eye. I will be rocking that as my main weapon before it's all said and done.
