This better be the last time you use this outdated engine... Make a new one for the new Elder Scrolls
Edit: a lot of people here seem to think that any criticism directed at Bethesda for their engine and the way their game runs is coming from someone who is a "graphics whore," or someone who values graphics above all else... If that was the case, I would've bought Battlefront (lol). But I'm criticizing Bethesda for their engine because I LOVE THEIR GAMES, and I think the way they immerse you into a world is second to none... But I am putting aside their strengths to adress their weakness. And the biggest weakness Bethesda games have had lately is in the technical spectrum, and THATS THE EASIER PART TO GET RIGHT... It's like writing an essay, the content portion is the harder part that requires the most talent and intelligence to execute, but you still have to worry about form, the grammar mechanics. And I'm addressing their grammar mechanics, and if they perfect it and make an engine that is as top notch as The Witcher 3 engine, their games will be throughly more enjoyable.
Edit: A lot of people also seem to think that an engine is all about graphics, no... It's about everything, including graphics. It essentially grants developers a bigger and more powerful technical budget. They can make the world bigger, they can have fewer loading screens, they can have smoother animations, less bugs, better facial animations and lip syncing, smoother and more satisfying combat and gameplay... It basically makes the experience better in every way

4 RepliesFallout 4 has great graphics and a great story but they should upgrade the engine. Doom looks like it's going to be on halo's engine
-
2 RepliesEdited by Smough: 11/23/2015 2:25:03 PMThe graphics aren't amazing, but certainly aren't bad in any way. But yeah, the engine could use an upgrade. You must realize they started working on this game in 2009.

Op is right... The engine in fallout 4 like all engines with to many miles start to run rough. Fallout 4 is amazing and I can't stop playing it! Bethesda needs to put in a new engine because the frame it sits in is pristine.
-
1 ReplyI agree, but unlike others, this does not lower the games rating for me. As long as it doesn't look like a 17 year old goldfish created it, the graphics do not matter to me much. I hope they do improve them though, so it inclines more people to try the games.
-
I have to agree I see more frame rate issues now that I've clocked more hours. Most in larger locations like the library.
-
1 ReplyAgreed

1 ReplyI love fallout 4 and it gets my goty vote but I agree. The next fallout or elder scrolls should blow us away.
-
It probably will I mean they started back in 2011 man
-
3 RepliesThe graphics are fine! Good god... You act like these are ps2 graphics
-
3 RepliesIf they used a new engine for Fallout 4 it would've been that 10/10 game everyone wanted... Too bad :/
-
8 RepliesWhy are graphics only thing that people care about in games anymore??? Do the graphics really make or break the game for so many people? If the graphics aren't what you want it's and instant dislike? I don't understand people. I think Fallout 4 looks perfect for the type of game and the type of world it is set in. It's got a 1950s look to it that just screams Fallout. Maybe that's just me but in a single player game, my likes and dislikes are all that really apply to my game.
-
Lol I don't why people want the graphics as good as the order 1818
-
4 RepliesI really don't care about the engine at all. All I care is about how much fun I will have.
-
3 RepliesIts the familiarity with the engine that most likely brought us a game of this intimate quality. I dont see it as a problem. It evidently competes against the rest of the market well enough
-
I actually really like how the game looks. Bethesda signature graphic.
-
2 RepliesBethesda have been heavily criticized on their outdated engine in nearly every review the game have received so I expect a new one to come about by then. If Bethesda would get rid of their old engine then some changes that would happen would include: - Not as many Frame rate drops. - bigger world - animations could be better - gameplay could be smoother - Graphically the game could look like a dream - environments wouldn't look so dull - more options with character customization - not as many bugs or glitches A new engine would benefit Bethesda big time & with the money they have they better damn well get on it as They've used the same engine since before fallout 3 (I'm pretty sure they had it for Morrowind).

18 RepliesNothing wrong with the engine
-
5 RepliesYep All the legacy glitches, we shouldn't be excusing a broke game because "That's just how Bethesda is"
-
2 Replieswhat's wrong with the current one other than the fact that they could make some of the extra systems added to it a base build
-
28 RepliesEdited by SXF Infinity: 11/20/2015 3:08:39 PMIf you care so much about graphics go play battlefront. Perfect example of a game with awesome graphics but boring gameplay. Bethesda care about gameplay more than graphics and it defiantly shows.

4 RepliesThey should use Dice's engine
-
4 RepliesI do admit they could update it a wee bit, but it is doing some impressive stuff none the less.
-
3 RepliesThey are doing amazing stuff with what they have, so if they can keep it up not complaints from me.
-
10 RepliesDon't think Bethesda reads these boards for feedback
-
3 RepliesI don't even want them to make a new one. I"d rather them license out CryEngine, Unreal 4, or even RED Engine
-
1 ReplySounds like you had too much skooma
