Before you go an do the whole story, see if you can go to the tower and get [b]every[/b] quest you can get. Some of them are located by the vanguards on the right side. This is in the tower and down the stairs, and on the wall to the right of the table with the 3 people you keep running to every time you complete a mission. Also, GRAB BOUNTIES. You get these from the robot near the front of the big sign that blocks the section of the tower. Soon, that section will be open. I love the view from the Iron Banner area personally, lol. Anyways, get the bounties and do them. Once you finish all your quests and stories, you should be at least 220 light. In the Destination selector, pick Vanguard playlists, and do level 36 strikes. The goal is to get blue engrams and purple engrams. Run strikes until you get bored or can't pick up any more engrams. Go to the tower and decrypt them. [b]Tip: [/b]When decoding engrams, make sure your light level is the highest you can get it, and only decode one at a time, then check what you just got. If it's better than what you have equipped, put it on and return to decoding. You will have to run strikes for a while, and decode engrams in this manner. Don't try to tun the 260 light strikes until you feel like a pro and/or are light level 270 or more. They can be tough, especially the SABER strike. More tips: avoid crucible Dismantle legendaries, but only if they are worse than your current gear and have bad perks. All extra armor perks are good Once you are around 290 light, keep all items 285+ (both blues and purples) in case you want to start a new character. You can infuse gear from other classes into your legendary gear. Go to dead orbit and rep them. They have a god-tier gun right now, the Hung Jury. Dead orbit is in the ship hangar. They are in a little spot on the left side as you go towards where the shipwright girl is. Keep these guns if you get them: Conspiracy Theory D, Havoc Pigeon, Any pulse rifle with lots of stability increases, any gun with firefly or explosive rounds, 1000 Yard Stare, any launcher with tracking or Grenades and Horseshoes ... Gunsmith - buy cool guns. For every gun there are 3 options every week with different rolls. Keep the order and don't take a roll if none of the rolls are good, and rolls will change next tuesday. A "roll" is the perks on a weapon or armor, btw. Oh, and ignore the jerks on this forum. They are toxic idiots. I suggest looking at ( reddit.com/r/destinythegame ) if you are really liking Destiny. They have all sorts of cool stuff and helpful guides. Feel free to add anything I missed

Don't let the forums get to you, more than half of these people are trolls and whining kids. Play the story fully through by yourself. The story isn't much, but it's pretty interesting. Especially once you get towards the end. (The taken King era) Once you finish the story, do strikes to level up your light level. Your light level is basically an average of all your gears and weapons combined. Its just a rough estimate of all of these things combined. Once you finish the story, you'll start to see things say "recommended light -number-), this light is to let you find what best fits you in this game, what's too hard and too easy for you. Once you level up from doing strikes, you define lot want some people to do raids. LFGs are good sources to find people, but it's best for you to raid with people you're friends with and people you know. This is why you should find friends trough out your adventure. Find friends. Destiny will get so extremely boring without friends. If you're on psn, rely to me and I'll be happy to add you and lend you a hand throughout your destiny adventure.

Leave before the grind addiction sets in. Expect no story but good shooting mechanics.

Welcome Guardian. Destiny is a great game. I've played 2,244 hours enjoying it. It is a blast to play but not perfect. I've made a lot of friends playing it. A lot of the people that post on the forums can be a little unfriendly. That does not represent the majority of players. Ignore them. I'm not going to dampen your enthusiasm when you just bought your game. I think it's the most amazing game I've played. Many are unhappy with Bungie rendering Y1 weapons and armor useless. People played a lot of hours getting that gear. People take Bungie taking that away personally. I'm one of them. If you're on the 360 or One then send me a friend request and I'll show you the ropes.
