Shoutout to Cozmo, Deej, The Mentors and the Bungie reply guys.

You know, I'm not really one who enjoys the endless grinding of Destiny. Or all the other issues it's having. I play on occasion, and I check the forums every so often to throw in my two cents for the community. But I think these two guys deserve a shoutout. They've been here, dealing with an incredibly toxic community for a while now. They've been doing it with some sarcasm, some jokes, some professionalism, and with what I could assume would be a smile on their face. I've been a community manager before. It was a small community, of about maybe 2,000 people. That isn't an easy job, even at that level. Everyone expects answers from you, everyone blames you for the issues occurring, and everyone chooses to say pretty hurtful stuff to your face, cause they can, and because they know you need to be professional, meaning you can't respond to them with the much needed slap to the face. The worst is that people expect you to be able to make a change, when odds are you can't. People failed to take a step back and see the broad picture. Hell, I just read two posts, which both had responses from Cozmo and Deej. In both situations, they gave a proper, kind, and understanding response. They give us the answer they can, which is that they're seeing our complaints and are bringing it to the attention of the people who can make this change. Read some replies to the post, and nearly all of them were just hate messages to these two guys, saying that they've killed Destiny. Sorry, but I don't think they can even CODE a change in Destiny (if you can props to you that's pretty sick). Much less be the reason it's not doing well. Either way, though, it's sad that a community of people has degraded itself to that level. And it's respectable to see you two spearheading the issues and putting up with it all. I've also seen the same thing with, to some degree, the Mentors and the Bungie Bots. People just leaving pretty nasty messages wherever they post. Being able to put up with those kinds of people is a gift, and you guys deserve a shoutout too. So thanks, you two, and all the others, for putting up with this terrible community. It must not be easy. Keep on keeping on.

I can appreciate your shout out to Cosmo & Deej, in the best of situations there's would not be an easy job, but the forums are not that now or for quite the while. You're right that as community managers they can't make any changes and they take the brunt of all the anger (as they are the public face), but that is also part of their job description to take the heat for Bungie directly as well as communicate with the forum community on the game. Not constantly, not all the time, but to actually *be* there, not just ninjaing thru the forum while keeping their collective head down. Or making snarky comments here and there when they do reply and blipping off to ninja-land. Hiding isn't part of the job, avoiding the community isn't part of their job, communicating with them *is*. That means taking their lumps from an angry community and working with those who aren't yelling to set up something. Toxic, angry forums aren't new. They aren't something to hide from and hope it goes away but they can be addressed and if the CM's\devs are willing to talk I've seen forums de-toxify from their worst when both sides taslk. deej\cosmo\bungie aren't doing that and it shows that *they* don't care about the state of this community.

      • I would love to have a job where all you do is represent a company. All you do is travel and talk. But it is amazing how many people think they have control over development of the game. They are just messengers and scapegoats. But it is too bad that they don't interact with the community more than they do. It's not their fault the corporate execs retooled the whole damn game in the name of money. They should quit while they are just a figure head. Lol

Also, I had to think about it, coz and deej job has them stuck in between a rock in a hard place. Cant change anything in the game, and lmao gets flooded with all this hate. All they can do is listen to feedback, pass it along, and play the game for quality assurance. Ill admit it, Im big enofght person to admit when he's wrong/trolling, but deej and his cockiness throws gas on the fire lol. I give them credit, and the dev team for TK. It was a step up (kinda).

          • To fair to you i agree that deej and cozmo get alot of hate from this community some of it deserved some of not, but standing up for bungie is kind of silly, mainly because they are a gaming corporation who's prime directive is to make a profit out of this game they dont care about me or you or any player in this comminity ( lm not saying thats bad im just being a realist), the reason this community is so angry with bugie is because of their "obvious" profit driven thinking such as locking the past 3 dlc's even though they had been made. ( not that profit driven thinking is bad) but that is why this community is so angry and toxic. And i have to ask? Why defend deej or cozmo they dont know you nor you them and they dont care about you so why defend them from this community, im not saying you have to insult or threaten them as well but you have no right to tell people they shoudnt either

            • I actually agree. They have to put up w a bunch of mess from, what I assume to be, a young group of tantrum-throwing brats. There are many other individuals who post constructive criticism or ideas on how they game could be improved (or how it is going astray). Those posts are reasonable. The toxic trolling ones are not. It's ok to be frustrated and to express that frustration. However, the angry, name calling, incessantly-attacking ones are ridiculous.

              • Thank you. Seriously, thank you. This is the kind of message we should be spreading, not 'fire this person, np one does their job correctly'. The members here need to know that community managers, ninjas, and mentors don't really have much say in what the developers do. They can only pass on messages and do what they can. Everyone needs to stop thinking that a community manager can spill Bungie secrets. They're only allowed to share what Bungie says they can. Don't blame them for doing their jobs. It's pathetic that a post like this is even nessicary. To any community managers, ninjas, mentors or anyone with any sort of authority you are doing a fantastic job, keep it up, there are some of us who understand and respect your restrictions.

                    • I don't think I've ever seen deej smile. Even on the reveal streams he looks like they're holding a loved one hostage. I wish I could say good job to them for dealing with it but you just can't. They crank out half assed weekly updates (with the exception of this week, I thought it was well done) and cryptic tweets and refuse to interact with the community in anyway meaningful. It's partially their fault the community became this toxic

Put this on this wish list, and I bet players who left will comeback. 1. In game LFG and or optional Matchmaking: there are too many good ideals on here to be ignored. 2. More ways to max light: Not everyone likes raiding and find them time consuming. People have jobs and families. 3. Separate PVP and PVE completely: Bounty’s, stats, weps, quest lines, ect. Stop forcing players to play thing they don’t want. 4. Dedicated servers for the game period/ Online optional: Many games have where you can progress on and offline. This can help both players and the dev team as they can now focus on important stuff rather they having to make adjustments so often. 5. Sure way to get everything: Get rid of RGN, the grind, and the farming. These things are time consuming and not fun at all to a lot of players. Create quest, or something for people to get weps. Some people don’t like the black Spindle hidden egg hunt, but it’s better than RGN. 6. Bring back exotic bounty’s: bring em back but make them pvp or pve optional. Allow the player to choose. Sleeper would be a good example. Not everyone has 8hrs to play a day to play. 7. More guardians: allow us to create more guardians and or to re-customize the ones we have. With that said more customizing options, a loooooot more. 8. No caps: stop the caps to everything, the marks, the amount of time you can play raids, glimmer, you name it that’s a way to keep people playing. Currently if everything is done people are playing just to grind for or farm and again its not fun. 9. A story :I need I say more. Give us a back-story, and a new story. 10. D pad: the D pad has different functionalities now. Add more like switching weps(because it sucks to go in the menu and have it load for five hrs), or pop a heavy, ect 11. In pvp a game mode that allows you to equip all exotics: It would be crazy to see this happen 12. In pve allow more then one or two exotics to me equip: who cares it pve. Let players truly play the way they want, and have fun doing it. 13. Everyone fraction in tower should have both pvp and pve ranks: players like some of the gear and or weps and should not be forced to play a game mode to get them. 14. Tower/planet chat w option to mute trolls 15. 6 to 12 man fire teams on planets 16. Raid bosses guarantee a drop of gear and weps 17. 1 to 6 man raid: A lot of players are lone wolfs, or have friends that get on at different times. It would be cool if you made a raid that could tell how many players are playing and calibrated as such. A raid could still be challenging, and have mechanics and still be completed by 1 to 6 players. Those VoG and CE strikes were proof of how cool the raid could if you added more stuff. This on top of LFG/MM would be epic. 18. Decrypt stuff from menu 19. 4x vault space 20. Customize skins: customizing skins to match ships, sparrows, and weps would be the shit. 21. Customize weps for pve 22. 3rd person viewing in pve only 23. Bring back nightfall flame heard and xp, and let players customize the colors of the flame 24. Voting for maps in lobby 25. Shooting weps from sparrows 26. Private crucible matches 27. Elemental Primaries consumables: gunsmith should sell it. 28. Bring old raids to new light levels 29. Send items to vault from menu 30. No rep reset in Iron banner 31. Option to go directly to designated planet or place after mission or game mode. 32. Create guardian name: you xbox or psn id still visible somewhere 33. Bring poe to year2 34. Matchmaking optional for everything 35. Player Trading 36. Firing range 37. Ability to assign emotes to other slots 38. Gun Skins 39. Did I say private pvp matches: maybe some bots to practice with too. 40. Etheric Light allowing players to upgrade gear by 2 or 3 light, idk 41. Hardcore pvp: no radar 42. Verity: you said you wanted players to stop using yr1 weps as a crutch, and to start using different tactics to how they fight
they are using yr2 weps as a crutch same as year 1
. people will use whatever wep/gear they like most. Find away to bring yr1 weps to yr2. You've proven you can. If you want players happy, put the time in. 43. Kiosk for all raid weps and gear 44.all enemies should drop glimmer(don't really care about this one) 45. Consumable that allows you to make blues purples, and purples gold: You really wasted a lot of weps and gear designees on greens and blues. I would be nice to upgrade everything. 46. Ability to organize vault space: buff said 47. Make old strikes relevant again: Put everything in the strike playlist. not the first few strikes, but yeah. Make everything relevant PoE, ect. 48. Light level should not matter in Pvp: ToO and IB has it where light matters. In Pvp period, the players skill should matter, not what they have on or their light level. Right now it like three thing that matter in pvp. Weps, Gear, and, Light level.( I don't care about this one but a few people ask me to add it so) *49*. Any weapon changes made should be specific to each PvP and PvE. Why should PvE suffer when the nerf was intended for PvP? Same with supers. 50.Old emotes from yr1 should be free at EL. 51. Strange coins: should drop from every where. Especially NF because you removed the weekly. Strange coins, and on top of that good drops. 52. GTA v has this thing where you can challenge other players to a one on one gun fight. Do that in earth, mars, ect. Feel free to alter or add to an ideal. Let me add that these are not demands, just a way to bring life to this game.

                          • -blam!- you. Don't pretend being a "community manager" is a tough job. Matter of fact, don't try to tell me it's a "job" in the first place. All they do is interact with the players via forums and press releases and, from what I can see, they're not putting in anything close to a 40hr week. Posting a handful of comments and one newsletter per week is something an unpaid intern can do in about an hour.
