Regarding Fallout 4's map size

I am aware that it's the same size as Skyrim, just without the difficult terrain to make traveling longer. Is anyone else a bid underwhelmed? Don't get me wrong I absolutely love the game, it's just been a bit in my mind. Eight hours in and I've discovered a sizable chunk of the top left corner of the map. When I look at the rest there is a good bit to go, but a lot of that is water. I'm not seeing where the 400+ hours of content is coming from? Definitely over 100 hours, but I'm not sure about anything else. That, and quests seem to be few and far between as of now.

  • A map bigger than that does not mean more content. It means more empty space to walk through, so I'm happy with the way it is. It's huge.

  • I played 8 hours and only completed 2 quests completely. Seems like way more than 100 hours coming to me

  • I'm sure I read it was 20% bigger than Skyrim

  • It's a typical rpg. You have to incorporate the underground with map size. Trust me when I say that you will not find every single nook and cranny for a long time. Also the map will get bigger with dlc. The quests are also Time gated through conversations. Talk to everyone over and over.

  • Dungeons in fallout have always been less densely packed into the map than into TES.

  • No. If anything I'm still annoyed because it's too big.

  • Depends on how many "dungeons" there are, really. And how big those dungeons are, what there is to do in them, and blah blah blah.

  • I thought that as well, but I realized how many buildings and underground things there might be, and the quests and stuff. I guess we will see, but so far I'm enjoying it.

  • I'm satisfied with it. A game world can be too big. Fallout feels nice and manageable but large and open at the same time. Idk where you got 400 hours from, but I'd say 50-100 is a more reasonable estimate depending on your playstyle.

    • Well, I'd take a small map with content over a huge empty one. That being said, it is underwhelming.

    • I found a whole bunch of shit in the corner where sanctuary is. Map seems pretty big and dense so far.
