Should we keep last IB's rank as compensation?
Last Iron Banner was for the most part...
...[b]a complete and utter disaster, and an embarrassment on Bungie's track record.[/b]
The advertised "we'd like you to get your gear from the drops" was offset by a glitch, resulting in many of us ending up knee-deep in useless ♢260-270 blue equipment. This would have at least been a solid way to farm weapon parts, had they not [i]nerfed the parts drop-rate that week.[/i]
The biggest issue, however, was stuff like this being an all too common occurance:

[b]Rampant cheating, the [i]entire[/i] week.[/b] Now, everyone knows that these cheaters [b]were not punished[/b]. How do we know? Because there was absolutely no follow-up on any punishment being doled out by Bungie after the event.
These people were able to exploit the infinite Shadowshot glitch, ruin an entire event, get [i]another event canceled[/i], and proceeded to [b]get away without even a slap on the wrist[/b].
So, should we get to keep our former IB rank from this last horrific experience as a "consolation prize" and a gesture of goodwill from Bungie?
In a sense, this would reward those who actually fought through this nightmare to reach Rank 5 and kept their chin up despite the terrible conditions of the event. A "free pass", if you will.
Alternatively, this would be hugely beneficial to everyone who, understandably, gave up on their progress due to things beyond their control... such as [b]an endless barrage of void arrows murdering them every match[/b].
If Bungie refuses to actively police their IB events and punish the cheaters, should they at least compensate those whose experiences have been ruined by them?

Maybe not keep the rank but maybe a boost to at least rank 2 out of the gate.

There would be no reason to even run IB if you automatically have rank 5. Of course, as the last IB showed, there was not much reason to have wasted the time in it.

Last IB wasn't even bad I encountered maybe 10 people using the glitch. Most people can't even aim their arrows properly. Me on the other hand id legolas you across the map with it HAHA

Normally I would not agree, but this one time would be ok. They have done it before.

Honestly levelling up doesn't take too long. I got 2 characters to level 5 and didn't even need to use 2 of my weekly bounties (still have them). as long as there are more drops and at a higher level I'm good

If Bungie could figure out how to isolate the cheaters and give everyone else a 'Iron Banner Commendation' that could get you to rank 2-2.5 on the first day then I would feel justified.

I got to 5 in a day, it's too easy to level.

It is really easy do the bounties and equip the exotic class item that. Gives bonus rep for some reason this works

I always run all three characters. After the rewards I noted on the first run, I didn't go further. I most likely will pass on the next IB, unless I read different. I already took a 'pass' on Nightfalls and the raid. Adding Iron Banner to the 'opt out' list will be easy, now...

I think I'm gonna take a long look at the loot table next time, and base my decision solely on whether I should be wasting my time there or grinding endless heroic strikes.

Whatever drops were in the last ib should be rewarded to us because i got 2 characters to rank 5 and got a freakin bond and bought the nirwins. I had one freakin drop the entirety of the last iron banner.

its a good post but i dont think we should keep the rank if anything we should get a buff that gives us "end of the week rep boost" for a few hours knowing current Bungie (as opposed to Halo era Bungie) it is easy for them to hide behind the "glitch" excuse because the increased drop rate wasnt working as expected by the community this seems to be the trend if you look back at their past updates and patch notes i mean the net code must be terrible if so many "glitches" are occuring so frequently and predictably but i dont have access to that kind of information so its all speculation

They only kept rank one time and that was the 2nd IB after the game released. This was prompted due to light level not having a large enough delta. Secondly, they let you keep the rank but increased the max from rank 3 to rank 5. So while unfortunate, I don't see it happening.
