Yeah that's skewed numbers. There have been 25m accounts created since day 1 - it clearly said "Bungie would not confirm how many of these are active. They show the average player time is 3 hours a day, but this is taken from what they claim to be the active accounts"
The 25m looks good, so they use every act ever created. The real numbers don't and that's why they won't say how many of those quit and don't play anymore. It's likely not even half. Just for kicks, look at your trophies on either system. Let's use the old hunger quest trophy... It's fair to say, most people these days who actively play have touch of malice, right? You're almost required to for raiding nowadays. According to psn.. Only 4.5% of accounts have it. Here's s better one... If you total up the trophies for the new subclasses, a total of 38% of all players have their new subclass unlocked... This is ONLY TTK players... That means that roughly 60% of the community who created an account on psn quit before they even unlocked the new subclass AND what's more, several of those overlap. I have all three so my account is counting three times and I'm sure many others do as well. The figure is more realistically only 25% of TTK owners unlocked a new subclass.
Food for thought. Bungie is never going to put out damning information about themselves. They lie about what they're going to sell you, what makes you think they wouldn't lie about how many people are playing with you?
