There IS still hope for this community! Here's why.
After struggling at going flawless in trials... I came across a guardian on the forums that said he could help.
I was weary at first, thinking that he would be a douchè and would only help if (insert stupid stipulation here).
I checked out his k/d to see if it was a troll. Was a 3.65 in trials.
"Well, what do I have to loose?"
Invited said player who was currently playing another game. He can right away. I was immediately greeted by the most genuinely respectful guardian I have met to date.
He says "hey bud! you ready to get this done?"
Where of corse I said hell yea!
We join our first match and before I could even find an opponent... BANG BANG BANG! All enemy's down!
I could not believe what just happened. This guy has to be the most ridiculous player I have ever seen in my life. I got a few kills/assists here and there but for the most part I sat watching absolutely amazed as to what I was seeing.
I in no way will deny that he carried my ass the entire way to the lighthouse for the first time.
The guardian that will remain nameless for his own privacy as well as terms of use, has my vote for guardian of the year. Why someone with such unimaginable skill and generosity would take time from his day to help me... Someone who probably would have never made it to the lighthouse without him, is beyond me!
He has renewed my faith in this community.
You know who you are bud. And as I said before... I cannot thank you enough for being the great person that you are!

Great story, thanks for sharing. I like hearing stuff like this, there's such much animosity on the forums. I'm glad I've found a few really nice friendly people to play with now myself, but if you're on Xbox 360, feel free to add me. GT is same as my name.

Man, Bungie.net community sure is salty. Second someone has an insane K/D, it's not a matter of skill. It's a matter of them lag-switching, aim-botting, host-advantage, all that nasty name-calling. What happened to everyone saying "Git Gud?" Second someone is "gud," the name-calling and excuses come out? Grats on getting to the Lighthouse either way man, and bless that person who helped you out. It's always good to give back to the community.

Some guardians are great and some are just well themselves... Last night I ran by Court of Orxy saw two there getting owned trying to do Tier 3. Jumped in to help, had finally gotten my TOM like maybe 30 minutes prior. Wish I had the skill that the gun makes me look like I do. Fricken GAMECHANGER. Had less than one minute left on Tier 3 and they ended up getting it. They were so happy must of thanked me like 5 times.
