Anyone else taking a long break / quitting Destiny?
I used to [b]hate[/b] on everyone who say they quit Destiny but now I'm starting to feel it. I recently realized that TTK is a bigger grind than ever. (Raid = double grind for loot and light level). Bungie is time gating exotics for obvious reasons. They pretty much rendered year 1 useless. If they won't do anything until Fallout 4 or Black Ops 3 come out, I'm sure they will see an alarming drop in players.
If [b]yes[/b], I want to know why.
For me, I'm taking a break but contemplating on quitting though.

6 RepliesI'm a Beta player, and after beating Skolas a couple times in HoW I took like a two month break. I came back for TTK, and was loving it up until a couple days ago when, like others have said, the reality of the Grind just hit me. I did NF today. I don't play Trials, and the Raid after already beating it on Normal only, isn't enticing enough. I'm kinda of tired of playing hours a day to move a Sniper Rifle from light lvl 296 to 297. I'll probably still do NF's on Tuesdays, but besides that unless Bungie/Activision have a huge ace up their sleeve for the Holidays I'm going back on hiatus. They need to fix the grind, at first it's fun getting that high light lvl drop, but when the activities begin to spit out the same useless items over and over it wears on the player. I have invested a ton of time in Destiny and don't regret any of it, but with the recent Nerfs to Strange Coins and weapon parts, it's just tooooooooo grindy now. I honestly expect a MASS EXODUS in the upcoming weeks.

1 ReplyI did too much too fast. I think I need a break. With the weapons part nerf, I'm about 30 parts behind for infusions that I want to do - it's starting to get to me. I think I'll finish the last few missions of MGSV and try Fallout for a bit, and go from there.

I'm burnt. The hard mode raid is garbage, the gear is garbage, crucible is still lame. Call of duty and fallout will consume me. And before anyone says fallout doesn't have multiplayer, I have over 2500 hours between 3 and new Vegas.

1 ReplyVoted yes but am not 100% quitting...just gonna be on a lot less (aka, NF and some strikes basically). It's a fun game but it has become obviously clear that Bungie doesn't respect our time. They also do everything they can to make us come back everyday with their timed quests and public events. Saying there is no longer a cap on legendary marks but making the amount of legendary marks harder to get was very misleading. I'm just disappointed that they take such a good game and intentionally break it so you are tided to coming back everyday. That's something mobile game developers do.

I remember the Vex, pushing off Atheon and getting shards, getting a fatebringer and dismantled it, my suros, Crota following me down to be floor, before the middle strat, when we thought necrochasm was gonna be the best weapon, and my first time going 9-0. I don't feel the excitement and will anymore. I don't feel raiding because it drops nothing and unlike before, what does high light do now that isn't the raid or trials? [b][i][u]NOTHING![/u][/i][/b] Bungie, us D1 Players are burnt out. You did make a big improvement, a really big one, but you also made a big tweak that's horrible. So horrible it makes the good look bad. The endless grind. Before it was more fun and rewarding. Exotic Emblem, Vex, Fb, VoC, FoIY, and GJALLY. I guest I'm going to switch until the game get's better. Call me back when it's better.

I will be taking a break soon due to nothing much more to do. I wish there were better raid weapons to strive for, elemental primaries would've probably kept me playing for as long as it took to get them.

Getting 300 light level drops and shards when you are at 311 is just too frustrating already. I have people that I have raided with since week 1 of Kings Fall that can't get drops higher than 304. The loot system is broken and needs to be addressed. Till then, I'm taking a long break.

Taking a break. I'll jump on about 1to 2 times a week, but other than nightfall and possible raid I see no point. I have to many weapons to upgrade, too few weapon parts and not enough time I want to invest in the grind. I love destiny but the loot system, heavy grind, and making all my hard work from year one obsolete have made it easier to choose other games in library that I have neglected.

Yeah, sure am. I am pretty much done unless radical changes to the loot system, the RNG system and the laggy Crucible are made. Most of my PSN friends have moved on and I am the same. I have Blops 3 and Fallout 4 pre-ordered and have The Witcher 3, Bloodborne and Uncharted Collection to get into as well. It isnt 2014 and Destiny isnt the only kid on the block anymore. Destiny has been fun but the cost, Bungies utter inability to acknowledge and sort most of the problems their community tells them about, to say nothing of the grind and the constant tinkering with resources is just infuriating. Time Gating is a step too far, its not like they advertised THAT with Taken King. Plus the story is getting retarded. Whats next ?? .. Oryx's wife and Mum turn up ?? .. Destiny is a grindy cash grab, better game sout there for a LOT less money folks. Step away from the one armed bandit and go back to enjoying gaming.

It's been said before infusion needs to work of an xp meter for weapons and armour. I'd rather need shards to upgrade my stuff than hope for that perfect drop of 320/310 etc. Moving on.

Same. I've started playing BF4, Minecraft, 2k and gonna get Black Ops 3. Right now the game has become boring to me and all of the gear now will eventually be obsolete

They've introduced micro transactions ... Now start delivering Bungie. TTK is solid! Very solid, but lock on exotics sucks and they need way more variance and customization ... They have the Diablo 3 reaper of souls showing them how to rebound and produce. BUNGIE is in for a hurting.

I'm just over Destiny. Been here since Alpha and I just don't think I can take any more of it. It's been fun but its just boring now and I don't like the direction that Bungie is sending Destiny in.

I got the game in August and I'm pretty sick of it already. All of the old content is pointless. I either have to solo everything or resort to forums to find groups of randos. The most annoying part is that Bungie expects everyone to just grind away at the same couple of things in an attempt to raise your light level. I'm growing tired of it.

1 ReplyI'm a day one player when it comes to destiny. But since halo 5 has been out I haven't touched destiny, then soon battlefront. There's no way I'm leaving destiny but after doing the raid I'm at a good stopping point until the next dlc

Im' taking a long break, this game was ambitious, had an amazing time with friends, I can't fault it for that. What is sad is the potential wasn't reached, soooo much could be done to make this game the best I've ever played. I have faith that Destiny 2 can be the best I've played but for their first attempt, not bad.
