Dose using a sniper require skill or not? Was curious b.c i just read that using a sniper requires no skill.
Also would like to hear the experiences of former players whom mained/used shotguns but then switched to snipers.
Let the poll speak for itself, we shall get the final answer from the players!
Also state why you think it is skilless.
1000ys-
it is in the same archtype as LDR, Y-Longbow, and HerBenvo. Aim assist is not as high as other snipers as meny guardians have mentiond below. So is it you that cant counter snipe, and the just blam it on the "1000ys's high aim assist? When apparently thats not the case?
Who here can own up to it? If you suck at sniping then just admit that you need practice. If your okay, then say your still learning. If your a good sniper just admit that the other guy got you b.c he was better, no? What's so hard about admitting the truth?
Im medicore at best. I am still learning. Back in TDB i was using my e-spear and played with all the snipers avaliable trying to learn how eavh type felt. Today im uaing the rr4 w/o litc and it's a hard sniper to get the feel for imo.

2 RepliesHonestly most of the snipers in crucible aren't really that good if you have a background in sniping then Destiny sniping is easy. I used to snipe a lot in Halo and Gears so Destiny is like really easy cause of the aim assist
-
Sniping just isn't very fun to me. It definitely takes skill
-
I hate to say this but the people who usually complain about snipers taking no skill, are the ones who can't use them very well.
-
I enjoy sniping when I do it but I'm definitely not good at it
-
3 Replieswonder why it took so long for people to start complaining about snipers like every other gun? ya'll werent complaining about year 1 snipers that have HIGHER aim assist than year 2s....
-
Yes it you hit the target but dont act like sniping takes some obscene amount of skill, it's easy.
-
As someone who sucks horribly at sniping, I can appreciate that it takes skill to snipe well.
-
With the nerf to shotguns and the ridiculous aim assist, it's definitely easier than people think it is. Quickscoping definitely doesn't take much skill. It's not quite "I can do this with my feet" level of easy, but it's probably about as close as year 1 shotguns were.
-
I'm okay used to use shotguns but recently switched to a sniper
-
Don't mind me. I'm just here to watch :-)
-
2 RepliesDepends on the weapon, some of them get ridiculous headshots. But I'm beggining to think that the frequency of special ammo needs to be nerfed throughout crucible again

Stillpiercer is my bby

14 RepliesHigh aim assist snipers have no skill sorry People who run low aim assist snipers have skill
-
32 RepliesIf you're using the shortgaze scope it does not take skill. Literally any other scope and it does.
-
1 ReplyIll say skill as long as you aren't camping at the back of the map the entire time.
-
3 RepliesIf you can get headshots then it's fine. If you're just body shotting then no. If you're using that Eirene just gtfo
-
15% of people keep getting dicked by snipers....
-
In destiny? Some skill, not really. Not a lot in this game requires "skill" though.
-
Depends on what you use. I would say the stats are what makes them skill based or not.
-
1 ReplyThe funniest thing about this is that pretty much everyone commenting that the snipers take no skill have < 1.0 kd. I'm so done lmao
-
It takes skill. Early year one before Felwinters I was into sniping and got efficient with it. Then I found that shotgun and got away from sniping. I have been paying dearly for it in year 2. I have got away from shotguns and back to sniping and my skill set has fallen off hard. changing your load out really effect's thing's.
-
Snipers require more skill, but shotguns require more balls. Fusion rifles and sidearms take both
-
3 RepliesEdited by Morrello: 11/3/2015 1:20:03 PMBeing a shotgun hero is harder now. Before it was easy mode. People who can snipe well. Are always much more impressive. 1kYS is exactly the same as HB. Never saw a thread like this during HoW.

Better than shotgunners, but if you're a backmap camper from the start of the game to the finish, you're a scrub

They still take the best aiming, awareness, and positioning skills to use effectively. Sniping in Destiny is still more difficult than in most other console shooters, including Halo. The hitboxes are small and the players can move quickly in any direction. With aim assist disabled sniping in Destiny would become too difficult for the vast majority of players. Bungie has been varying aim assist levels and the ranges they carry out to since the Halo games, and with such a large sandbox the possible variants with perks as a factor is gigantic. With careful design this can help to establish a range weapons that are better for particular tasks, or feature tradeoffs such as aim assist for high damage, as seen in Efrideet's Spear. It's a sad day when people consider the sniping weapons to take the least skill. Players are dying a lot to snipers now and it really speaks to the new nature of the game. The freedom of movement the old shotgun meta expressed has been replaced with the freedom to use sniper rifles effectively, since the former was nerfed. Sniper rifles are the focus of Destiny pvp today, and should see more attention from Bungie.

2 RepliesTakes more skill than a shotgun.
