Snipers? *skilled or unskilled*
Dose using a sniper require skill or not? Was curious b.c i just read that using a sniper requires no skill.
Also would like to hear the experiences of former players whom mained/used shotguns but then switched to snipers.
Let the poll speak for itself, we shall get the final answer from the players!
Also state why you think it is skilless.

it is in the same archtype as LDR, Y-Longbow, and HerBenvo. Aim assist is not as high as other snipers as meny guardians have mentiond below. So is it you that cant counter snipe, and the just blam it on the "1000ys's high aim assist? When apparently thats not the case?
Who here can own up to it? If you suck at sniping then just admit that you need practice. If your okay, then say your still learning. If your a good sniper just admit that the other guy got you b.c he was better, no? What's so hard about admitting the truth?
Im medicore at best. I am still learning. Back in TDB i was using my e-spear and played with all the snipers avaliable trying to learn how eavh type felt. Today im uaing the rr4 w/o litc and it's a hard sniper to get the feel for imo.

Every gun takes skill. That's why not everyone is good with a shotgun or sniper and not everyone was good with thorn or last word. OP or not, if everyone has it then the playing field is level.

1 ReplyEfrideets Spear wasn't a sniper IMO, it was a crutch if you have final round. So many ES in trials -pre TTK- to counter an ES you had to be a somewhat skilled sniper. Especially when it was 3 ES against my LDR 5001 that has shit perks.

I main a sniper, at all ranges, I used nothing but a sniper in my special slot for 2-3 months now, obviously I will use my primary, but whilst I was learning to snipe I forced myself to use a sniper in all situations, and as a result I would say I am a top tier sniper, I can consistently quickscope at most ranges, I take out 80% of supers that come my way, including sunbreakers, (one headshot and a primary body shot), I can use a sniper at shotgun range and cross map range, it took me not long at all to get good with sniping, but I know day one players that have only ever sniped that still can't do what I do, so yes it takes skill.

15 RepliesIt's all about aim assist. People in HoW using shadow of veils, and in TTK using defiance and even 1000 yard stare to an extent are not as skilled. Yes, it is still hard to snipe with aim assist, so they do deserve credit. Also, 1000 yard stare has quite the high aim assist, not sure where people are seeing that it doesn't. In TTK, aim assist for snipers across the board was dramatically raised, not sure why, but it's causing a lot of arguments lately. And dear god help us if the AA of the iron banner sniper is labeled correctly.

I used to use shotguns but then switched to snipers cuz I got bored. Took a while to get used to snipers.

I seriously don't even understand why this is a debate. Snipers weren't an issue before. Now if you use a sniper OR shotgun it's a crutch? Gtfo all of you and just play the game,it's pathetic to constantly be looking for something to blame for your deaths in the game

I'm a novice sniper but a sniper all the same. I prefer to run the sniper over shotgun and have spots I like to work. In any given game I might get a few sniper kills (maybe 2-5), but I still can't drag scope and only take shots I know I can make or have a safe retreat. This is a big improvement from where I was when I started though and I'm just now getting the hang of it. It most definitely takes skill, although some people just seem to have more of an affinity with the sniper than others. I've worked for every single kill I've gotten.

Pro tip: if you get sniped going down a hallway, don't go running down the same hallway immediately after respawn with your shotgun out. If you get sniped by the same person twice from the same location then it's not the weapon, you're playing stupid. Snipers aren't the problem, too many players play stupid. If you see red, then change your route. Don't duck for a couple of seconds and pop back out from the same path you ran from expecting not to get sniped, that's just stupid.

However I've found that the best snipers in any game, are the ones that can move around the map and not stay in a fixed location. The camper sniper is [i]usually[/i] a 1 dimensional player that can quickly befound out. Snipers in games will always piss people off, but only because we hate not being able to see what hit us and when we do, we'll always believe that we pylled the trigger 1st.

Lol skill. Well what's that in comparison to? The other special weapons? Well it isn't easier than shotgunning and smashing a trigger with sidearm. Fusions? Well they require a bit of preparation to use well. I'd say they are maybe the hardest to bag a lot of kills with.

Where is the who -blam!-ing cares option, the one that says people played with a weapon they had. Remember a year ago when that fusion rifle poised everybody off cuz there was no skill? Go get that -blam!-ing gun yourself. Christ. It's open to everybody.
