"I suck at PvP but I'm amazing at PvE"

I want to clear this up, because for the last year this has been something I've heard a lot from pve'ers and with Trials approaching the discussion has been looming around the forums. This statement has always puzzled me. If you are bad at the one thing that actually requires skill in this game, what could honestly lead me to believe that I should trust you on my raid team? If you can't hit the backside of a barn in a pvp encounter, what should lead me to believe that you can take out your ogre and knight? I'm asking these questions out of sheer curiosity as this has been something I've always been puzzled by. It would be like saying, "I have no social skills but I'm really good at picking up chicks." The best pvp'ers are also most of the time the best pve'ers. They might not necessarily enjoy pvp and they might call themselves pve'ers but they can damn sure hold their own in pvp. And vice versa. I would rather a talented pvp'er on my raid team who has never raided before than someone on my raid team who says, "I'm awful at pvp but I'm amazing at pve." Edit: So far I'm hearing 2 things being said, 1) I've played pve with some amazing pvp players and they were absolutely terrible. My response to this is simply that they must not have been as good at pvp as you thought they were. Anyone who is indeed "amazing" at pvp will no doubt easily be able to take on artificial intelligent. 2) you can't compare pvp to pve. Why not? The only argument I hve seen is that pve has hordes of enemies whereas pvp you are only facing a max of 6 people at a time. And to that, I have to say I disagree with the argument. 6 real human beings vs. 20 dregs. I would vote that the 20 dregs would be easier to kill 100 out of 100 times. Edit 2: It's funny to see how salty some of you are getting. Please refrain from getting your panties in a damn bunch. I'm simply pointing out a large observation I have noticed throughout Y1 of destiny and sharing my opinion. No need to come in here saying the reason you suck is completely due to lag. That's just a bad look and honestly supports my opinion in a way. TL/DR: I've now read multiple comments that said something along the lines of, "I carried the guys through POE/Raids who carried me to the lighthouse." I'm sorry if this sounds rude or comes off as close minded, but Trials of Osiris is easily the toughest, most competitive content in the game, given that nothing is extremely difficult in this game, I find it actually quite silly that someone would say they carried someone through the easiest content in the game, who carried them through the toughest content in the game. I guess what I was trying to say with this post is that pvp players are better at pve than just regular old pve players. And it's apparent that regular pve players are having a very hard time accepting that.

  • Weeeeeell, so far I have died four times in the raid (not counting team wipes, of which I've caused two). I'm definitely above average in crucible nowadays but in there I have bad days. I'm always on point in PvE.
