Destiny is dead now for players who don't Fireteam? Solo and so called *Casual* players post here.
I know, I know... "get good scrub, The raid is the best part of the game, Destiny is a multiplayer game" yada, yada. Not disagreeing with any of it.
That's a different conversation for a different thread.
A huge percentage of Destiny players do not raid, or fireteam. Thats not my option it's a fact. Does Bungie care about this large section of the Destiny player base? It seems not at the moment, the game seems to be actively locking out solo play, matchmaking and players who (for whatever reason) can't put a fire team together.
Thats a lot of players, a lot of $.
In year one there was pretty much always a progression line to play how you wanted, you could get pretty far if you put in the time. That's no longer true. Even mini quests like Black Spindle, No Time to Explain quests, getting exotic swords are hit and miss if you don't have a fire team. And this is coming from someone who solo'd Thorn on a Hunter with just a void machine gun back in the day. There was always a way.
Seems strange to deliberately lock out a huge part of the player base without need, thats all i'm saying. Why? Do they not want our $?
Last year, sure there were endgame elements that were effectively locked out, but we had Nightfall and weeklies to have fun with, try and solo or get matchmade. Even -blam!-ing POE. Before Taken King came out I had all 3 characters to 32 by grinding IB, everything basically. That game is gone.
What do you guys think? is it all over for a lot of you? There is little point in trying to progress? You can't.
Just to be clear. [b]This isn't about looking for people to play with.[/b] We all know about LFG (the good the bad and the ugly) this about basic gameplay change within the game and [u]what it means for solo & "casual" players from here on in.[/u]

Bungie aren't locking anyone out atal. I'm predominately a solo player. I've soloed all story missions, quests etc that are solo, and use matchmaking where possible. But I do raid (although not a lot due to personal time constraints) and I always find groups through the forums/lfg. In fact today I found a group and did KF on normal and then up to daughters on hard (with some Aussies who left because it was late for them). I also used forums/lfg to find fireteams for black spindle, 2 sword quests (still have one more to do on my Warlock when I play with it), trials, nightfalls and anything else you NEED a fire team for. I have over 400 people on my friends list who I've only played with once, or just a handful of times, when I needed them and they needed me. My point is, the only people locking solo players out is the solo players themselves. With the exception of not including an in game lfg type function, Bungie have done nothing to lock solo players out. As a solo player you CAN do everything in this game, you just need to get a team for certain activities, which is easy enough to do.

You can be a casual player and still do team activities. It will take longer to learn raid mechanics, but it is still possible Join a clan who will help and understand you are not a full time player

Yeah, solo players really got the shaft in this one. The raids have always been multiplayer (except TDB because it was so poorly done), but now even obtaining some of the exotics will be too hard for some to do solo. Getting Black Spindle solo is doable, but not for everybody. Running the 300+ light version of sunless cell for the exotic sword won't be doable for some people trying to solo. There is definitely a lot more difficult content which obviously lends itself to a fire team scenario.

there is definitely not a large player base playing solo. probably a very very very small amount. they should get some friends, it's more fun that way.

3 RepliesSolo players like myself cant really do raids alone. Hell the VOG , dark below, and Kings fall are all 6p based not 1p. Thats where it becomes a bit unfair for solo players. The best weapons can be found in those and we cant even get through the first parts without needing a team of people who dont respect you because your player is weaker. Come on bungie

Destiny is not solo friendly... Unless you like endless grinding. There is no way this game can be played casually if you ever plan on being over 300. The gap between those who have time to build teams/raid and the casual solo player gets wider every day.

There is 0 chance i would ever play this game without friends. The community is the only reason its worth it (my player community, not the shitty forum one).

I'm a solo player but there's those times every week where I need fireteams(raids, etc...) and I'm no casual either. I main warlock and self Rez. Can't do Titan or Hunter because when your nightfalling and BS happens, self Rez is there or you know, bubbles and invisibility ;/

2 RepliesI bought a PS4 and Destiny combo (whenever it was that they came out) and I have not invested (or rather, wasted) any money on DLC. Although, at the time, I would have if I had the money. Anyway, all I'd like to express is how I don't think its fair that what I paid for back then is not what I have now. I feel robbed. Seriously, what justifies removing content that already have had access to? I should be able to play any game mode I want, within the scope of the content I own. I should be able to select ANY game mode in the Crucible and I should be able to select up to my own level of difficulty on strikes. Yes, I know this is all just to push me into buying the DLC but dammit, I'm broke! I have IMPORTANT things to pay for and I'd like to end my stressful days playing Destiny but it's barely a game any more. For me, (and plenty of other players) Destiny's become like a demo or a beta test or some trash. I feel like myself and the other players who are in my position are the omega wolves in the wolf-pack that is Destiny and we are only allowed scraps to gnaw on. Just enough to keep us somewhat interested. If this isn't corrected, I will NEVER buy ANY DCL to support this game in the future.

3 RepliesI've taken to doing even the crazy things solo. Did my Thorn bounty completely solo, doing NF's solo. Might attempt the black spindle solo. When the next DLC comes out though, they can stick it up their asses. I'll move to Fallout.

I actually work alot. Haven't even tried. I have a group to pull people from but its a game. TTK is my last stop. I may male it to the raid one day. And I notice once again my friends list is not so active with Destiny. Went from 50 with Crota to 28 for TTK. Now down to 12 playing. I read a article that said 20% play still and out of that less then 5% have tried the TTK raid.

I wont be buying anything destiny until there is matchmaking. I often find myself spending more time finding a team than actually playing. I dont have tine for that crap. Why not match make me in a group automatically? I can look at the roster and see everyones set up. I can talk to them to see if they have mics. They are just as random as people from lfg, so i really dont see what the big deal is. Too many peopke act like once your matchmade your stuck with whoever they stick you with. This isnt the case you can add the ones you want to play with in a party, and then back out to matchmaking. I dont know if any of you play zombies, but you dont just run it with the first group your matched with. The game picks people who you may want to play with, but you get the final say. No different than lfg.

1 ReplyI agree, and I'm an admin in an active clan. It feels that there are quite a few things in Year 2 that can't be accomplished without a Fireteam. Even with access to people to play with, I'm still finding it difficult & annoying to make progress. Things like The Black Spindle daily make it seem more pronounced because not only do you have to have a Fireteam, but you all have be able to play on the day that that daily is available. It's frustrating and feels like it discourages people from engaging with the game in the way that they want.

You should be able to get all you toons to somewhere over 300 solo. Nightfalls are easier and drop 300+ gear. That is plenty for all the solo content. Y2 over levels you much more then y1 destiny. There is not really a max right now just various levels you need for some group content. Y2 added the court and easier nightfalls with way more solo pve content. Raids and trials are not built for solo play and would both suck with matchmaking. You can solo most of the exotic weapons. Not easily but you can they are solo hard mode. Like all video games it depends on what you want to get out of it.

Im still not sure why they dont just implement optional matchmaking. If i wanna solo the nightfall let me load it up and run by myself. However if i dont wanna solo it, let me search for other guardians who arent looking to solo it either. It cant be that hard, right?

3 RepliesThe only thing you cant do solo is trials of osiris and the raids you can do every atory mission solo and strikes and crucible matchmake so i dont see the problem
