You are not a special snowflake
At 41 I realize I am older than most other gamers, so this may be a generational disconnect.. but man, I just DO NOT GET this need so many of you have to announce stuff.
- If I am bored with a game, I go play another. I don't need to announce it....
- If I don't like a game, do I feel the need to insult people who like it? Nope.. because my ego does not demand that everyone agree with me.. Again, not a special snowflake.
- If I do something well in a video game, do I really need to post that anyone else who hasn't done it sucks? Nope... It's a video game
- If I stop playing a game, does that mean it is dying? Pretty sure they are unconnected.. or WoW would have died a year after it came out, and I am pretty sure it's doing ok. The world does not actually revolve around me. MY world does.. and it stops there.
Tell your family and friends, they care. But internet forums? Why add to the meaningless noise that is already 95% trolls and self-masturbatory/exaggerated nonsense?
Can someone help me understand why people post this stuff? Honestly, the reddit looks more reasonable and mature than this place... That can't be a good sign.

The sarcastic side of me agrees with you.
But in reality, I have some faint glimmer of hope that starting a rational conversation will encourage people to put more thought into what they post. (A very faint glimmer).

If any of you old bastards: 28+ want to game with some more old bastards in a somewhat anachronistic Clan system - with a cooler name than something like DOD - then look up Mythic Exiles. Join us. They just abuse the down vote option to the extent that all your future posts are filtered as span and no one can see it in that subreddit. I've seen and had experience regarding the same. I just made my opinion clear and I got down voted to hell!!! lol Some one replied to my comment saying I just made an logical observation and can't understand why I was getting down voted. Reddit is almost on the same level as this forum in terms of immature people but I've had a better experience here than reddit.

This generation has grown up with social media where people are interested in what they are doing right then and there, and where they are told that their opinions matter and that they can make a difference. By posting your age, you are not making a statement of "I am older and thus wiser" or whatever your intention was, rather you are admitting that you are simply outdated and do not understand this generation. Trust me, I know its annoying, but this is not going to change anything.
