More so than any other Raid so far this one exposes players who just aren't that great.
There's nowhere to hide boys.
Everyone has a job.
Everyone needs to STAY ALIVE(they have the hardest time with this one)
Everyone needs to think on their feet.
Everyone needs to DPS.
Everyone needs to use their supers and abilities intelligently and to the benefit of the team as a whole.
There are honestly some players who may want to consider skipping this hard raid or at the very least ONLY run it with Warlock Self-Rez so you have an extra chance or two when you mess up.
Seriously, consider it. Some of you are making this A LOT harder for other people when you join a group.
EDIT: A lot of you are mistakenly assuming I am some sort of Rage Monster who yells at his team mates, singles them out right away, and kicks people. Nothing could be further from the truth.
I patiently explain every step, try to help my team mates, ask them what gear they might have and make suggestions, ask them if they would feel more comfortable in a different role, I try new tactics that other teams run, I play for hours with the same team even when we are struggling, and I HAVE NEVER KICKED ANYONE IN MY DESTINY CAREER.

6 RepliesWhat OP says: useful tips for raid: - you've got to take into account you can't hide when playing the raid - you've got to know your job and stick to it - like never before, dying is more penalising than ever, and makes it impossible to succeed as a team: staying alive is number one priority - keep calm and keep analyzing/reacting - make sure you're equipped as best as possible (for the task at hand) - try to maximize the benefits created by using your super (orb generation, crowd control, saving teammates life or gaining them some time, etc...) Maybe: try sunsinger for a while until you got the hang of 'not dying' What forum gets: OP is elitist and intolerant

Anyone else notice the OP has his self res warlock as highest light?

No real carries in kings fall raid

1 ReplyI wouldn't go as far as saying they are bad players.......you cant compare someone who plays SOLO 99% of the time to some one who is always playing with others, has committed friends they run strikes and raids with. SOLO players will have a different play style that just doesn't jive well with a RAID, hard more or not.....just sticks out more in Hard mode. I'm one of those solo players that is making the transition, just joined a clan and it's helping a lot. I find I get far more kills then a lot of others but I either hang back more because that's what you do when your solo, or I push with out the support of the team and die. As a solo player your always looking at the entire field, as a fireteam member you focus on a small part of the field, the others have their parts to cover......this is the hard part to learn or in a solo players case....unlearn and then relearn. Just like PVE to PVP, you can't play it the same way.

1 ReplyI understand completely that surviving is important but if you are one of those people that hide at the edge of your platform to avoid being killed instead of actually helping to clear out enemies you're going to get someone else killed. Waiting for your sniper doesn't help the guy that is killing his sniper while taking down the spawns. So no, it is not always the guy that dies that is the problem. Sometimes it is the guy that is not contributing in fear of dying. Once you single out the player that dies because he is trying to clear out the taken spawns, he will back off to survive just the same and then you will have a shit ton of enemies that no one bothered to kill. Which will result in your platform jumper getting shot at or an over whelming amount of taken that no one is going to survive. See the pattern here? Look I played hard mode twice so far and I saw a huge difference when players are all in vs players that are just trying to avoid getting killed. I was singled out in my first attempt because I died a few times on the platform while trying to clear the hive. When I was shooting at them no one else was and all the enemies turned their attention towards me. You can try to hide at the edge of your platform but splash damage will still -blam!- you up. This can easily be avoided if both platform people and floaters are killing effectively. Once I was singled out I was the target for blame every time I died early. However, I had the highest number of kills and KD and I am the platform guy. The floater should have the highest number of kills. Second attempt at Hardmode. Breezed through it in an hour and a half with relatively just a few wipes per section. We slowed down at the maze puzzle because it took awhile to coordinate since a few of them never done it until now. Stopped at Oryx due to us collectively not being high enough light level and it was bed time for most people. The key here was we all did our jobs. We could breathe easy knowing each player had each other's back. No one called out other players for dying which resulted in great morale throughout. If you point out a player you weaken his morale and also make other players fearful of dying which turns the game into our first attempt. Keep in mind our raid leader in the first attempt wasn't a dick. He was actually pretty cool and patient but him pointing out players that died early got other players to join in and add to the frustration. That creates a toxic environment amongst your teammates whether it was good intentions or not. Keep things light. Focus on your jobs. Help your teammates out by killing enemies. KILL THE THE ENEMY. Communicate. Dying will be the least of your worries if you handle the first four points.

Yea I'm never posting my Titan again since most of the bad groups only look for Titans.
-
The worst ones are the ones who demand that the group needs a Titan or needs the be able to self rez or needs to use black spindle. The scrubs who say that the group must have these things to succeed are always the first to die, do the least amount of dps, and usually the first to leave. These ones are the guys being revealed by this raid. And I usually don't kick unless it is a group decision.

3 RepliesEdited by sergeantsnipes05: 10/28/2015 4:38:20 PMIt really does. It's sad how many people can't stay alive during oryx. I never really got into raiding until after TDB came out but I imagine VoG was a nightmare on hard when it came out. It's kind of funny actually. I was playing with someone who was streaming cause on of their friends was on my friends list and they needed two more so my buddy and I jumped in. Did totems fine, warpriest took forever because people kept dying, golgoroth took longer than it should. 3ish hours later we end up at daughters which is the root of my most recent rage thread about this encounter. Spend 45-1 hour because half the group can't jump. We are pretty patient after spending 4 hours with these guys when it could've taken 1-2. We give oryx a few goes, can't even manage to finish one cycle in about 10-15 tries, my buddy gets an error code, and I decided to call it because I stayed up way to late the night before playing Halo 5. Being my curious self looked up their stream only to find them talking total shit about how we are bossy "bitches" after we spent 4 hours with them. We tried things the way they wanted to a few times, so we had them go back to the way we do things. Keep in mind none of them had beaten hard mode before. The real kicker was they blamed us for taking forever on deathsingers. The only reason that we got past it was because RNGESUS saw fit to pull myself and my friend so we could run it in a reasonable amount of time. They wanted to sit on the ledges below deathsingers for the second witch, but none of them could stay alive long enough for the relic runner to get there. It makes me laugh.
-
A big problem is I've noticed is people getting set on doing 1 thing on each step the best thing you can do is learn each position in the raid to be the maximum help to your team learn aura on war priest, gaze on golgoroth, relic on sisters and platforms on oryx. I cant tell you how many people I've seen mess up on oryx because their ogre was last and they couldn't kill their knight. Its random so everybody has to know how to do it when their turn comes these raids really aren't hard just repetition

rather than the need for edits why not phrase your post in a less condescending manner in the first place. Patronising self res Warlock comment.

Haven't tried hard yet, but this has always been true for hard raids. As people get more competent at it they will be able to carry people through. For a long time people wouldn't take anyone under level 31 through hard Crota because of the challenge. Didn't take long before groups were carrying 3 or 4 people. That said, I agree. Anyone playing hard mode should be familiar with normal and at least able to stay alive. If you don't have the practice and the right gear (light level and sniper really) stick to normal until you are ready. Not as critical with a group that normally plays together because good team work and familiarity can overcome sure gear deficiencies, but important for groups on lfg.

1 ReplyI didn't realize how many people can't run the bombs on the oryx fight, because you have always been able to revive them. Of the 4 runs I've done there has always been someone who consistently died on that part.
-
Edited by Bob: 10/28/2015 2:36:28 PMwe did over half of the Oryx fight in hardmode with just 5 people just yesterday, was from like 75%-0% with 5 people. the oryx raid is only really hard at the moment due to light levels, once people start getting 312+ light, the raid will be cake. even did it the normal way with killing the knights Edit: I will say some people don't even care for the hassle though. was in a raid and we went all the way to oryx in about an hour (pretty solid team) and they didn't even try oryx, they were like "well that's it guys" and left. I had to find another group just for oryx. Edit: also with touch of malice, you don't even need all 6 people to dps oryx to stagger him, 4 will do. maybe 3

I absolutely agree with you. This raid takes people out of their comfort zone, and makes them need to deal with raid mechanics rather than sitting in 1 place and burning down a boss in 20 seconds. It separates those who can, and cannot perform these tasks, and it is very obvious when they cannot.
-
8 RepliesI'd rather explain the Oryx fight, practice it a few runs, and succeed with a less experienced group than have a massive -blam!- breathing down the necks of my fireteam at every little mistake. You people are the worst. If you are that guy in my group, I don't give a shit about how many times you have completed this damn raid, you are booted....you hear me? You are a cancer.
-
I think the difference between good players and "bad" players is battle awareness. Knowing the fight, being able to know when to shoot and when to get cover, and being adaptable. I think all players have the ability to be good it just takes listening and being teachable. However, I did have to boot someone last night because he kept dying and telling me I needed to change my tactics. I hated doing it but when we got the other guy in my team beat oryx in 15 min.
-
My patience mostly depends which part of the raid it is. For example, if a group wipes 2-3 times on the totems aka the easiest part, I will leave. But, if it's oryx then I will probably give it an hour or two at most. I try not to call out players who die a lot, but rather figure out why they're dying and see if we can adjust strategy to make their job easier.
-
2 RepliesI got stuck on totems with a few other guys who kept dying in the middle, I didn't die once in the middle, and then I got kicked. They didn't even tell me why they were kicking me.
-
There are honestly some players who may want to consider skipping this hard raid or at the very least ONLY run it with Warlock Self-Rez so you have an extra chance or two when you mess up.
Everyone should run the hard raid as Sunsinger. But that's beside the point. Studies show that half the players are below average. It's true! Also, 99% of players are not in the top 1%, and 90% of players players are not in the top 10%. It's like being an "elite" player meas being an elite player.

4 RepliesMy only problem is people who can't jump when they are torn. The single most simple mechanic of all video games.
