I've been playing for about four months after day one. Still, I am a casual player. For one reason or another, I've never raided at all (except for VoG for the No Time To Explain quest, my first ever raid). The main reason is because none of my friends play Destiny at all and I only recently got a mic (sooo many players boot you out without a mic, I kinda understand them).
Yesterday I went into LFG to try and gather a Fireteam to do King's Fall for the first time. It took about an hour for someone to let me in and they had the sisters' checkpoint and I was totally clueless, but helping in what I could and no one explained a thing and I got kicked out (even after I stated in LFG that I was a first timer). Same thing happened with a second Fireteam.
So are us people who didn't do the raid on the first week doomed to never finding a Fireteam? Right now King's Fall is totally unreachable for me, and now that Hard Mode is out I feel it's even farther away. Does any one of you have the same problem? How can we solve this?
Tl;Dr No one wants a first time raider in their Fireteam and I'm stuck out of King's Fall because I have no friends. Boo-hoo.
EDIT: I came here just to put out my rant and found out there's actually a lot of nice people around here. I'll be adding many of you, guys. Thanks a bunch. Also, anyone else feel free to message or add me anytime: 6CharlyTb on Xbox One.

Take a few minutes and skim a couple youtube vids. Or make a post looking foe other first timers. I havent bothered doing it yet but i'm gonna check out a couple vids for the basic mechanics first. Don't have 8 hours to try and learn em on my own. Lol.

See there is some nice people here.
-
I'll take you with me. I have two rules Listen Bring a sniper And that's it What console?
-
You on Xbox One? If so me and a couple of friends raid every week. We'll be glad to accept you in our fireteam, teach you the mechanics and get you set up for success. GT same as profile name.

Console?

Kind of in the same boat. Me and my friend play destiny on ps4 and we want to try do raid ( me first raid ever. He did VOG) but it's hard to get a fireteam of 6. How can we get experience if we can't play it. By watching YouTube videos like most suggest? We can have an idea but it's not the same as playing it.

I started playing Destiny during week 2 and didn't raid until the week before the Dark Below was released. I was a level 29 3/4 until then. I always wanted to raid but the majority of the people you find have "high standards" and no tolerance for lack of experience. King's Fall normal is still pretty fresh. Most people are just now hitting 310 light level only because of the 310+ drops from the first couple of checkpoints on hard mode. As time goes on and everyone is above 310 the requirements asked for normal won't be so ridiculous and you'll find a lot more people willing to take "noobs" through normal because everything will be a lot easier to handle. Do what I did. Watch a lot of you tube vids and say you have experience. If you still can't find a cool group start your own thread " helping out people with no raid experience ". Be the leader.

If ur on 360 i could hlp u out.

2 RepliesEdited by joey big guns: 10/24/2015 2:31:18 AMI ran it for the first time Monday. I've been over 290 since week one. I met a real great group that took me through with another it that was 286. They explained everything really well prior to even starting each section. It was awesome to meet such great ppl. A lot of assholes on the forums are full of themselves and think they're some video game gods but they can't teach for shit nor can they do anything, from what I've seen, without their regular team. I've been in the same boat as you since the beta. My roommate plays but not often and most of the ppl I've met off third party locators always said the same thing, "your not leveled up enough", get experience, git gud scrub". It was the same with VoG and Crota. The raids were kinda easy to be honest. Kings Fall is no different. The past few weeks I tried to get in a group but it was always, " your light level is too low"(I was 296), "get experience". First time though I really couldn't understand how it was "so difficult". Yes, the mechanics are a very attention oriented but it all depends on the teacher. The way I see it if you're not 310+ with tons of experience, got a BJ from Marilyn Monroe, witnessed the assassination of JFK and talked Jackie into giving you a handy right after, melted steel beams with jet fuel, and killed Xylar with nothing but a throwing knife they don't want you. I'm no expert and I dont have many gamer friends but if you're on XB1 I'd be down to do it with you, GT is Joey big Guns. I won't be able to raid till tomorrow night though. It's a little late and I gotta work in the morning.

This is why once a week I take 3-4 people who've never done it, so they have chance to run it weekly and maybe help someone that was in their position.
-
Hey man. If you're on the xbone give me an add and if I'm free or we have an open spot in a raid I'll pull you in. I do definitely think investing in your mic would help a lot if you haven't already. It's really hard to teach someone without being able to verbally communicate in a raid.
-
I've never been able to raid at all :(
-
If you're on XB1 add me ampforce94 I'm always down to raid and help out

Hey, I know the feeling, correction...we all do. We all did a raid for the first time with either friends or randomly found players on LFG or the recruitment forum. However most that needed a little more time to learn the mechanics of the raid(s) found groups and clans that helped us learn. I suggest looking for a clan that supports newer players and that will take the time to help less experienced raiders. If I were you I would start looking at the clans that Cozmo and Deej Spotlight on the articles Unite the clans. Those groups and clans tend to be bigger and have a lot of players willing to help either in PvP or PvE content.

I've done all 3 raids (including hard besides kings fall) without a mic as well as Skolas when level cap was 34, with Lfg groups. I understand how it is to be kicked for not having a mic. They don't understand that even if you're not super coordinated you don't need a mic, with the exception of relics and such. Thing is that you just need to know the fights, if you do they'll have no good reason to kick you,and if they still do you're better off with a different group. I've found that the people who don't mind a person not having a mic are better at the raids than people that have mics as a requirement. Unless you're talking about an organized clan or friends. That's a different story.
-
No just need to find patient people to raid with. They are out their just have to keep looking.
-
Damn, if you were on ps4 I'd raid with you
-
Edited by Lucidfer: 10/24/2015 2:09:22 AMYou're shit out of luck if you want randoms to teach you the raid and you have no mic. I'd feel bad for you and tell you too add me but seriously... A mic comes with the system. And if that one broke, I don't know how much a replacement cost but I know it cannot be that much for the most basic mic. Edit* I see you said you just got a mic. You'll find a team. Add me on xboxone if that's what you're on. Lucidfer666

There are plenty of spaces where you can look for for raiding for beginners. She pas are around to help. Some people still do blind runs for new raids.just gotta look in the right places.
-
Just watch a video then start ur own group with no exp required. You won't have to worry about being kicked and you will find ppl in the same boat who would hopefully have more patience.
-
I'll help you with the raid
-
Shame you're Xbox I'm running on Sunday with all first timers, we're just doing it for fun and experience.
-
In just starting a clan for stuff like that, called Tha zer0 Squad You should totally join!
we started recently so its still not well advertised or staffed
