Oh my god! What type of friggin company is this? as long as you have the minimum speed required there shouldn't be an issue.
They need to provide a better service, better net code, dedicated servers ect.
I have never heard of a developer doing this, I'm truly disappointed and amazed with this decision.
Jesus Christ look at titanfall that was one of the best online experiences I've had.
There are so many things that can affect connections right down to corroded phone sockets or old cables inside the walls of an old house, countries which are not as advanced as the US or Europe's infrastructure, I don't think it's even been a decade when the UK started to get high speed broadband The list is huge.
Bungie and Activision marketed this product globally probably out of greed to countries who probably don't have the best of online infrastructures, they took their money and now they are going to ban them, I've spoken and played with some of these people and they love this game, how is this fair???
People that have already been banned have no idea why or for how long or even been given any information on how to correct the problem, that is extremely unfair, unorganised and unprofessional.
What's an average young person supposed to do? Even adults struggle with creating a good online environment.
You're the company with our money so sort it out your end first and give us the best possible service you can.
We all know you haven't done this.
I've played a lot of online games and this is by far the worst PVP experience I've had, and I've played with good and bad connections in the past.
Well I'm just gob smacked that this is actually going to happen.
As I've had a lot of replies saying I won't be banned, I just want to add that this post isn't about me, I know I won't be banned my service is fine, this is for people who are less fortunate than us but still love to play destiny.
This is just not fair and coming from a developer that says it cares for its community, pathetic and short sighted.
Link to a poll I hope.

4 RepliesThis total BS...last night i was running some quests with a clanmates and one of them asked me in wich part of the world i was playing from because they were seeing a red bar on me...i was like "dude im playing from Atlanta!" They were in Oklahoma btw... I run a 105mb speed, hardwired to my ps4, i check my internet speeds on a daily basis, i even portfowarded my ps4....what im saying is Bungie needs a better net code, dedicated servers etc, big part of the problem its not in our end, its theirs. Now, a lot of you dont even think before going like " im going to report your a.s.s every time i see you, scrub". It's because people like you this game community is so toxic.

1 ReplyThe only way bungie can fix this is by adding dedicated servers. I can understand bungie's point of view by saving costs but now they have Tess the micro transactions vendor now they have no excuse not to implement dedicated servers.
-
2 RepliesCue all the cheaters coming onto Bungie.net to bitch because they cannot gimp their connection and get away with it any more. I'm not saying you are one of them, but a lot are coming on now.

4 RepliesOne person's terrible internet connection will ruin the experience for many, many others involved. Sometimes you have to cut off the arm to save the body. I have no problem with that.

2 RepliesI have Verizon, it costs me $80 a month with an additional $10 for the best router I could find. I haven't hit the red bar since, but I guess I got lucky.

2 RepliesHonestly I feel what you're saying. Anyone who payed for this game should get the full benefits regardless of their internet capabilities. But for the majority of us on the destiny community playing this next gen game have a strong internet. And it ruins the game experience for all of us with a solid Internet when we get some red bar running around that doesn't die. Also this gets rid of lag switchers and DDOS. I support this. Even though I do feel for those who have a sub par Internet.

2 RepliesI can understand if they banned u from the whole game but they just ban from crucible, i hate it when i play and i see people lagging around and are top on the leaderboard and i cant even shoot them because of their lagg. They ruin the experience for everyone else because they only want to play for themselves, either get better internet or dont play crucible

2 RepliesIts interesting reading the responses - it seems there is strong support for the Bungie initiative. Could I suggest you run a survey to make Community position on the issue transparent ?

1 ReplyI think a ban is a little extreme. Last year I moved out of my parents house, they had a 1mb connection speed BUT ping was a constant 30ms my online experience was flawless, outside of downloading files :(. They could have had a 20mb connection, but didn't want to pay for it. I moved 3 miles down the road and out of the service area of my parents isp, and guess what? The isp's that service this area are complete garbage. I have a 5 mb connection where I moved, BUT situationally the ping is God awful. On a good day it ranges from 60-90, on a bad day it's anywhere from 90-200 hitting everywhere in between. The shitty thing is there is nothing I can do about it without moving out of my house.... So banning is the plan for people with inconsistent ping? Some people literally don't have other options. Also, mine may not be as awful as I think because I don't go into God mode when playing crucible, it plays exactly how it was when I still lived at my parents house.

2 RepliesYou know the wire distance doesn't matter unless you're doing 150+ feet? You must have a huge house if that's the case

1 ReplyEdited by Fools Meta: 10/19/2015 6:58:01 AMOne of my friends has a pretty bad connection at times. Living with parents and a couple siblings, its pretty hard to maintain a strong connection at times. (Sometimes even for myself.) He tells me, that he keeps getting messages from people who report him for "Lag Switching", and he's terrified that he's going to get banned because of it. He goes to school all day, and doesn't have much choice on when he's actually able to play, especially when he wants to play with friends. Which means that he doesn't have a choice but to play through the lag. He doesn't like it, but he doesn't have a choice. I agree with this thread. This issue needs to be a addressed. P.S. Not to mention the fact that very Salty People will report anyone with even a slight hint of lag. I just hope that Bungie can tell the difference.

9 Repliesgood i hope they temp ban every red bar and ill keep reporting them to help out too
-
It's not banning they are restricting them.. Red bar happens every now and again but it's for the cheaters... Good call by bungie
-
No red bars get the FÜCK out and stay out
-
1 Replyi hope they ban them all and ill do my part by reporting every red bar i see
-
5 RepliesIf you get banned because you have shitty internet, that's on you. Maybe try not having shitty internet and screwing up everyone else's game. If you play knowing you have shitty internet, you deserve to be banned.
-
I love listening to all the try hard cheaters cry about this awesome decision! Way to go Bungie! If you can afford this game, you can afford a good internet connection.

2 RepliesDoes destiny even have servers in other countries??? If not that's just thievery. Seriously I won't even try the laggy crap PVP.

44 RepliesEdited by torch327: 10/18/2015 3:31:18 PMSlow speed isn't what causes lag(unless you are on dial-up).High latency is what causes lag. I posted about this elsewhere, but I will do so again here: Games such as this one where everything is installed on your console actually require very little bandwidth. If you are capable of steamimg HD movies, you have more than enough bandwidth(speed)to play Destiny(and many other online games). The only data that is being received is other player actions in the form of code(these are not the same intensity as a video stream)which your console then translates to a picture you see.The only data you are sending is your ownd player data(unless you are host, then you are sending and receiving all player data. Lag(high latency) can be caused by a few different things: 1)Crappy ISP provided routers(most common) 2)network configuration not configured properly for online gaming on your end. 3)Isp doesn't have your connection configured to be optimal for online gaming. This is also common because default ISP protocol's can cause high latency, which isn't an issue for most internet traffic-video streaming movies/shows,downloading most things, viewing web pages are virtuall uneffected by latency.A phone call to ISP tech support can usually resolve this. 4)Too many things using the internet connection causing choke points. This is usually only people with slower internet.I you only have 6mbps DSL,NOTHING else can be using the internet if it a high data using device. 5)Faulty cabling/wiring can also cause this and will be the last and least thing your ISP will want to check. I hope this helps.

I think it's a good thing. It's not cool to have red bars spoil the game for other players. Everyone else should not have to suffer because one players connection fails.
-
If you have crappy wifi, Run a hard line.

I'm sick of being in games with about 9 people running green bars and three players (normally the top three, spread across teams) having red bars, not taking any damage, killing 3-4 people while no one can land a shot on them and then once the action is over and they have a massive lead going back to a green bar until their next super is ready, or they need to push the scores again. If you've got a red bar and it's legit your score will be shit. If you're doing well with a red bar, as far as I'm concerned you're a cheater. The only time this isn't true is when you've got everyone suffering with red bars and one player (obviously the host) with a green bar, which is just BS game matching. Normally (exception was IB where the lag was just utter shit) I can tell the second my wife starts streaming or downloading anything. Crucible play goes to absolute shit. Like I literally can't play, kill anyone, even see people half the time. That's why if she really needs to use the internet I don't play, or ask her to stop while I'm doing PvP of any kind. How anyone could do well with a bad connection is a real mystery unless they are cheating.

20 RepliesEdited by LordxCastamere: 10/17/2015 3:47:49 PMI'm glad ur banned one less lagger in the crucible, maybe you should of got better wifi

eh...Yea its a bit extreme, but at the same time if you're red bar consistently....i feel like you should remove yourself in consideration of others. And if you don't care if you might be screwing with other people's experience, the game should give you a hands-on hint.
