Banning for bad internet? REALLY?
Oh my god! What type of friggin company is this? as long as you have the minimum speed required there shouldn't be an issue.
They need to provide a better service, better net code, dedicated servers ect.
I have never heard of a developer doing this, I'm truly disappointed and amazed with this decision.
Jesus Christ look at titanfall that was one of the best online experiences I've had.
There are so many things that can affect connections right down to corroded phone sockets or old cables inside the walls of an old house, countries which are not as advanced as the US or Europe's infrastructure, I don't think it's even been a decade when the UK started to get high speed broadband The list is huge.
Bungie and Activision marketed this product globally probably out of greed to countries who probably don't have the best of online infrastructures, they took their money and now they are going to ban them, I've spoken and played with some of these people and they love this game, how is this fair???
People that have already been banned have no idea why or for how long or even been given any information on how to correct the problem, that is extremely unfair, unorganised and unprofessional.
What's an average young person supposed to do? Even adults struggle with creating a good online environment.
You're the company with our money so sort it out your end first and give us the best possible service you can.
We all know you haven't done this.
I've played a lot of online games and this is by far the worst PVP experience I've had, and I've played with good and bad connections in the past.
Well I'm just gob smacked that this is actually going to happen.
As I've had a lot of replies saying I won't be banned, I just want to add that this post isn't about me, I know I won't be banned my service is fine, this is for people who are less fortunate than us but still love to play destiny.
This is just not fair and coming from a developer that says it cares for its community, pathetic and short sighted.

People who play crucible with bad internet connection shouldn't be pared together with people who have good connection. Simple as that. If your upload is way too low you should be on a server with others who have bad connection. Everybody would be happy

2 RepliesI read to "advanced as US"... Wake up the Us has Terrible internet, it's sad how much money tax payers dumped into it and the ISPs basically just ran off with and dust hold up the contracts. Should be down right criminal, oh and then they remove infrastructure was was still usable so they can remove options for service. Just please never put US and advanced internet together like you did ever again.

What this is though, is punishing people for no reason other than they are too cheap to get dedicated servers. Their reputation will be destroyed.

I have shit internet. I could understand possibly kicking from crucible games if your connection goes red bar way too much, but banning? What the -blam!-? Not everyone can afford top notch wifi, and in some cases like mine you don't even have a say because you get stuck with some shitty provider like windstream.

I can see why they are doing it... The amount of cheaters with lag switches I have encountered is horrendous! I'm glad they have done something about it even though it's harsh... This is coming from someone who got booted for having a bad connection, I was downloading something at the time on my PC whilst playing destiny: iron banner on my PS3.

I think rather then ban them just kick them off from playing crucible if their connection goes red bar. Besides this stop playing on crummy internet service or buy a better router. It's not fair to anyone who has to play with your shit connections. Whether you're using it to get an advantage or a disadvantage, you have no place in the online gaming community.

1 ReplyBanning isn't the right way to approach this problem, and it's a bit extreme if you ask me. Now, if they're doing something malicious (lag switching on purpose), you can usually spot that pretty quickly and dish out punishment that way, but if you're banning players for having a lacking internet connection, then something is wrong with your head. The better option is to prompt an alert message to the player saying that their connection is causing issues for the match, and then remove them from the match (Just a kick). Matchmaking can do a good job of finding players with connections that are most likely to be compatible with each other. But for Bungie to come out and say "Let's just ban them", that'll get them in a bit of hot water.

1 ReplyI fully support this. I have died more to teleporting redbar losers in this Iron Banner than I ever have in destiny prior. It gets old. I don't know, and I am not sure I care, if it is the servers or their internet, but it gets old fast. I shoot a guy in the back only for him to appear behind me and shotgun blast me. I look and without fail, they and/or their fireteams bar is red. Burn. Them. All.

I also see the NEED for bungie to address the issues that come from their end of the system. No one answer is gonna fix all issues. Why does it have to be one side against the other , these two beliefs are not mutually exclusive. In this I believe BOTH sides have valid points. Things would be fixed sooner if the issues (plural) are addressed instead of whining back and forth while doing nothing to actually fix things. I took the time to troubleshoot my connection i found a problem and i fixed it , now i have far less issues. The problem isn't one sided its all of ours to deal with. Work together instead , we are all a part of this if we want to be. Pointing fingers doesn't work if thats all anybody is gonna do yo.

They need to address the sony services there going through, which cuts your speeds in half. So slow
