Making Oryx flinch?
So I've gotten to Oryx probably 6 or 7 times now with random players. We usually rock and roll through the entire raid until Oryx. Still haven't beaten him! We always have trouble not making him flinch and wiping. Sometimes we make him flinch once, detonate bombs and then fail to make him flinch the next time. I truly don't understand how a team of 295-305 players keeps wiping here.. can someone explain the non-touch of malice weapon load out for oryx? I was using a 310 jade rabbit, 300 1000-yard stare and 308.frenzy (frenzy and rabbit are good for ogres and adds and was sniping oryx 5 to 6 times).

When I do it, I think most of the team is using scouts. I have a 308 1000 yd state that I use, it's normally not a problem at all. Maybe you're shooting too soon/wrong spot?

You don't score critical so a weapon like Black Spindle is no better than a 1000 yard stare or even the raid sniper in this instance, thanks to the larger clip and RoF. I'd suggest the team swap to something with a larger clip and higher impact. Good option is a scout rifle or pulse rifle. I haven't had luck using snipers on him, I also haven't experimented with them much. The longer you keep at it the more likely you'll find some running mates that have some stacked gear and really help the group as a whole. Good luck!

So what I've learned from doing oryx with multiple teams is save your heavy. We flinch him using high impact LMGs. Weapons Of Light cab help majorly, but the thing that made it much more possible was communication. I personally call when to start shooting to keep the team focused. It seems to work.

Just keep trying bro. The mechanics are easy, it's just the execution needs to be near perfect. You're allowed one miscue, two he will enrage on last run. Weapons of light help a lot, sleeper stimulant is boss on oryx. Practice, you'll get er Cheers

Everybody needs to use a high impact sniper, machine, and scout/pulse rifle. Weapons of light helps a bit too.

Edited by QuiscalusMajor: 10/16/2015 10:14:37 PMnon-ToM loadout for me was LMG (that vanguard one) and 1000YS, i unloaded a full clip of heavy and then sniped. reload all weapons before the flinch sequence so that you're ready, if you find yourself reloading you could wipe. save the Frenzy for when you have a ToM, use a sniper on ogres.

If you have trouble staggering tell everyone to fire a full clip of sniper then switch to primary and fire. You can reload your weapons when you get the bombs. If you're reloading and your team fails to stagger him, you're the problem.

21 RepliesNot enough DPS If everyone snipes (1000 yrd stare works great) it is not a problem. Don't use a Telesto. Don't use a shotgun. Golden gun with Celestial NH works fantastic. Caught my team off guard the first time i used it he flinched so fast.

everyone needs to be using machine guns or rockets but preferably mg's ToM doesnt hurt either but when trying to flinch oryx you shouldnt be using much else.

Fusion rifles do the most dps since the have enough damage to not have a crit bonus

What did you use to infuse beyond 280? Just RNG drops?

Scouts and snipers man. If you've got a Titan they need to be using Weapons of Light. If you're in a group that has Touch of Malice it becomes very easy.
