Making Oryx flinch?
So I've gotten to Oryx probably 6 or 7 times now with random players. We usually rock and roll through the entire raid until Oryx. Still haven't beaten him! We always have trouble not making him flinch and wiping. Sometimes we make him flinch once, detonate bombs and then fail to make him flinch the next time. I truly don't understand how a team of 295-305 players keeps wiping here.. can someone explain the non-touch of malice weapon load out for oryx? I was using a 310 jade rabbit, 300 1000-yard stare and 308.frenzy (frenzy and rabbit are good for ogres and adds and was sniping oryx 5 to 6 times).

6 Replies1000-Yard Stare and Ruin Wake (or the raid LMG if you have it) work wonders on this part. What a lot of people don't understand is that you should NOT reload during this sequence. If you unload all 4 sniper rounds and he still hasn't flinched, switch to your LMG to finish the job. [b]NEVER RELOAD DURING THE STAGGER PHASE[/b]

Before our first clear we used golden gun w celestial nighthawk. Think we had 3 hunters running it to make sure we always had one up to stagger him. Also be sure to wait on firing it until you see the black heart in his chest appear then bang him in that thing. Works every time

This is a full proof method i use golden gun with nighthawk helmet BANG!!!!!! as long as u can get super everytime which is possible u should be fine

high impact sniper with around 294ish damage, a high impact low magazine machine gun (ruin wake from the crucible vendor), and the hung jury were my go to before touch of malice. worked like a charm.

Don't forget to throw an incendiary throwing knife at Oryx right when he spawns. You know, for the special effect ;)

1 ReplyPop weapons of light in middle each time and you should be good .If I'm not using the mailce , spindle or 100 yard stare always has worked for me.I've noticed without weapons of light though, most times the second run he won't flinch and wipe you .

Don't just aim for the white, you need to hit the black spot you can just make out.

Just make sure everybody understands that they have to use their snipers... I had one guy who was throwing hammers. Like seriously?!

All use snipers and weapons of light low rat of fire machine guns work great too but have weapons of light if struggling to stagger.

3 RepliesAre you guys shooting oryx from the ground or up on the platform close to him. If you're not on the platform you need to be. They 2.0 changed adjusted damage fall off a great deal and it makes a huge difference now.

It's not about how much damage you're doing, it's about how fast he's being hit. Machine guns, scout rifles, Pulse rifles, anything that fires fast and hits hard. High impact fast firing things. You don't really damage Oryx with your weapons, you just make him flinch.

I personally think heavy machine guns work best. Make a Titan use weapon of light and pass through the bubble also if you are all those levels it's clear someone isn't shooting or someone is using a primary or something.

When I do it, I think most of the team is using scouts. I have a 308 1000 yd state that I use, it's normally not a problem at all. Maybe you're shooting too soon/wrong spot?
