Might as well start farming and exploiting to get gear and levels..
As lagit play will no longer matter.
That's how I feel.

For years, the slang term for "cash shop" or any other function that adds items available for purchase without playing the game and unlocking it- has been dubbed "pay to win"
In other words.. micro transactions , cash shop, [made up currency] - store is the same as "pay to win"
Can argue amongst yourselfs with the definition of pay to win.
(Not to be confused with pay to play)
And yes. Obtaining a dance emotion is winning an item. May not make you stronger- but it adds to the game play experience.
If they want to make it so you have to complete a quest or something before you can buy the stuff.. that's different. .
Nerd fight! !!
That is all.

2 RepliesThose dance moves are gunna kick my ass I tell yhew wut
-
I'm gunna cop a new dance so I can personalize my guardians more with something that fits me as a person. Aka the nae nae https://youtu.be/oHOZpjg2BZA

When they sell guns, armor, class items, or ghost then it will be pay to win. The cosmetics aren't anything but a step into a very bad direction. If it stays cosmetics only I have no problem supporting them if I see something I really like.

1 ReplySo you're saying I can become a god and mercy rule by breaking down and doing the worm in crucible?
-
5 RepliesEdited by NiteHawk107: 10/7/2015 6:54:59 PMI take it you've never played a pay-to-win game? I have. It's where the guy who pays the most...wins. Like the little guys who don't pay can never ever compete... Buying skins and emotes isn't pay-to-win. Your weapons still do the same damage when you face off in Crucible. You're either a troll or mentally challenged.

2 RepliesPay to win - in order for that it would have to be more then cosmetic items unless those are some uber powerful weaponized device of mass destruction. But it isn't, it's "emotes"
-
8 RepliesYou... You don't understand pay to win, do you? Maybe sorta, idk, look it up before you make a topic on it? Let me help out a bit. All pay to wins are micro transactions, but not all micro transactions are pay to win. Think of it like, not all hot tubs are jacuzzis but all jacuzzis are hot tubs. Do you see? Am I helping? I've got a bunch more examples, too. We can even widen the scope here! All burgers are food, but not all foods are burgers! We are learning. And learning is fun.

2 RepliesEdited by Dyalar: 10/7/2015 7:04:43 PM
Can argue amongst yourselfs with the definition of pay to win.
There is no argument, you're just flat out wrong. "Pay to Win" implies spending real money on an optional item that impacts your ability to succeed at the game. If all Exotic weapons/armor were only available for purchase, that would be Pay to Win. If the only way to get 300+ gear was to buy it, that would be Pay to Win. If ammo synth cooldown reduction could be purchased, that would be Pay to Win. Something that is purely cosmetic (i.e. dance emotes) is 100% absolutely not Pay to Win. It's a micro-transaction, and nothing more. It has no impact on gameplay whatsoever.
Unless you're running an illegal strip club on the moon. Then maybe it's pay to win :)
I'm going to dance myself to the lighthouse
-
1 ReplyYes, cosmetic items help you win.
-
2 RepliesI know what you're trying to say. But what you're actually saying is completely different. So you're honestly just asking for people to hate on you. A+ trying, I feel what you're trying to say is a solid point you just need to work on expressing yourself better.
-
Emotes have nothing to do with "play to win" If they were releasing gear or weapons I could see your case. I don't see how a dance move makes you a better player lol. They stated they're giving away a few free ones so you'll be ok special snowflake
-
1 ReplyJust wait until I pay for the twerking emote cause then I will CRUSH you in PVP. It will be the new Gjallarhorn. LFG will be posting, must have 300+ light, 4000+ grimoire, and the twerking emote.
-
4 RepliesNot even close to the same. Paying to get items to change appearance has nothing to do with gameplay itself and will not modify your damage. If they started selling damage buffs or even maxed damage weapons and armor. Also selling sought after exotics like say max damage Sleeper Simulant would be pay to win.
-
2 Repliesim liking the free dlcs later on for dance moves today.
-
2 RepliesHow does adding another dance move add to the gameplay experience? It's a cosmetic. Nothing more. It's not even part of the gameplay itself it's just a gag. Something to just show off and that's it. It's not gameplay, it's show b
-
Good. Quit now and give me back the 2 seconds to look at your post.
-
Whoa. I never knew emotes gave me the upper hand. Thanks!
-
It's not going pay to win
-
1 ReplyHow about you guys stop complaining. If you want the items, buy, if you do not want them, do not buy. I'm assuming each of you individuals have enough competency to make a choice. Stop complaining.
-
2 RepliesYou are of course miss defining pay to win. It is only pay to win if it assists in the playing of the game. You are mistaking it with pay to customize. Bungie is offering pay to customize.
-
It's just emotes that yield no advantages or disadvantages to the owner. I do not understand why people are freaking out. It's not like they're offering guns that can only be bought with actual currency.
-
Since when was paying for cosmetic items in a game pay to win exactly? How do dance moves give you an advantage over other player. The next time you decide to bitch, have a valid excuse. Don't bitch just to bitch.
-
1 ReplyI can't play some of what I bought in year one. No more donations to Hacktivision from me.
-
for non TTK owners, Destiny is already pay to win. /thread.

Emotes cant make you win
