I'm a server. I bust my -blam!-ing ass around a group of people who act like the world owes them something and never lift a finger if they don't have to. I close almost every shift. I make sure my own and other people's tables are taken care of ALWAYS. Very few servers work as hard as I do and that's a fact. The ones that work like I do become successful bartenders... Anyway....
Tonight I'm section 2 which is a closing shift. I communicate with my section 1 and make sure everything is good before I leave. My manager says, "Did you get her signature?" I said no because I never do - section 2 is a closer and doesn't get checked out. He says I need her sig and she is right there and tells him I was done.
I was annoyed but whatever. I leave. He calls me an hour later when I'm at the bar enjoying a drink downtown, "Why didn't you break down the soda machine?" Lol. For one , I had communicated with my other closer that she would take care of that. Two, why did he not ask her before he called me at 1:30 in the morning when I've been drinking and have been off for over 2 hours?
I told him off. I said he needed to get his shit together and realize how hard I bust my ass for that company and start being hard on the people who don't do anything and get away with EVERYTHING. He had nothing to say other than he would talk to me when I had calmed down. I apologized but I'm pissed.
If someone else in management talks to me about it what should I say? I am so frustrated with how shitty our restaurant is run. Something has to change.

Maybe you should find a new job. Unless it's a corporate run business, you won't have the benefit of an HR department

3 RepliesThat's a very professional and mature way for you to handle that situation. 10/10

You were drunk. To be fair, you probably shouldn't have picked up the phone to begin with, but still tho...

1 ReplyI once told a manager to go back to his sit n spin and let me do my job. Wasn't a fantastic outcome.
yes, that line is from star wars robot chicken. Yes, I actually said it
The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is just that little "extra"

2 RepliesAnd here I though working in a metal melting factory at 115 degrees was hard. Busting tables sounds rough...

Easy, when people ask for extra work ask for extra money. No overtime... *click*.

Sounds like you shouldn't answer your boss's calls at 1 a.m. when you've been drinking
-
Thats just shit...but that happens almost everywhere

Read as "I just shit on my phone"

I don't blame you. I've had my fair share of shitty supervisors and managers and still deal with some to this day.

That is rough pure pressure sure pushes a man overboard.
