What happened to PvP?
I just got back, haven't played since the Crota expansion and I remember fighting, taking cover, using strategies in PvP.
I just played a match of Control now and it was a completely different game. I could barely spawn before being one-shotted, complete mayhem. It feels like Unreal Tournament or something now. It's not fun, it's ruined.
I for one will never play PvP in this game again unless they reverse it to the way it was, because it used to be fun.

Let me clarify this topic a bit. Obviously I know I can't come back and expect to own everyone in PvP. I am rusty and bad. I didn't expect to join my first match in months and expect a 2.0 k/d, but that was never my point.
The PvP has gone through significant changes and it's not the PvP that it was at release, which I found to be entertaining. If you like the changes then good for you, but as an old Destiny player I wanted to make my voice heard that I do not like these changes that have made the PvP into a totally different game. Now, there's no need for posts like "get gud" or other insults when I'm simply voicing my dissatisfaction over the changes to the PvP game play.

Ok, obviously Destiny is filled with adolescent retards who think this is fun. Have your -blam!-ing game. Blops 3 is coming soon anyways.
Never buying anything more from Bungie, that's for sure.

The general consensus seem to have proven that the new PvP is better, even thought I don't feel I got all I wanted out of this topic I consider it done and I won't be making any more replies. Thank you everyone who made mature input and well... screw you guys who just troll/flame these forums coming on here insulting me for my opinion.

PvP in Destiny has always been shitty and unbalanced. It hasn't really changed much. Maybe the hierarchy of what is best and worst has, but the fundamental design of 'hey lets just give people overpowered stuff to kill people and give awesome points all the time' is still there.

1 ReplyDude I am terrible at pvp, way worse than you I bet, but I love it, especially after the 2.0 patch because the time to kill is much higher now. I enjoy it. I also try to go in with 6 man fireteams with my clan, that makes it more fun especially if you are bad like me.

2 RepliesIt's a lot better than it was . No thorn basically . Spawns do have some issues but it's minor from what I have experienced . Shotguns are worse now , have to be closer to get the kill with the shot package nerf. Basically it's much better than it was

I dislike Destiny's PVP simply because you can kill or die so quickly in it. Halo's time-to-kill was higher and allowed for much more strategic and dramatic battles. In Destiny you run up a hill and two hand cannon shots or 5 auto-rifle shots later you're dead, you turn a corner you're one-shot shotgun dead, you see an enemy from a distance and pull out your long rifle and you're dead in less than a second from some exotic scout rifle. It's not fun to have deaths that quick, it's aggravating, and turns it into a frantic panic room. I've never really liked Call of Duty and I don't like Bungie following Activision in this regard.

You are simply not used to this new Crucible, where things are far more diverse. You've taken an extremely long break, and are very rusty. To be decimated in Crucible after such a while no matter the weapons should be expected. Nevertheless, were you there to experience the mixture of blink-shotgun? The terror of Thorn? The super fast time-to-kill of the Last Word? Judging by your post, I'd have to say no. And as such, you don't seem to understand that to those who did experience it (which was everyone who played PvP during the Summer) consider this new Meta extremely diverse and a far more enriching experience than to be utterly dominated by two once great hand cannons. Shape up, Guardian. You've been out of action for a while, get back in the Crucible and train harder than before.

Bungie is constantly tweaking this game. That being said, I think it's clear their underlying goal with many of these nerfs, buffs, and changes to the game is to "balance" Crucible game play. After each patch or DLC there's always a learning curve to Crucible. I played some Crucible matches the day after Taken King was released...and it was clear to me that many players had already mastered the new maps, had figured out all the cheese spots for sniping, and learned the best weapon loadouts. So, all that to say - yeah, we've all been there. Frustrated and annoyed. But you should keep the following in mind: While you may be busy at work or attending to normal life responsibilities there are people that are playing Crucible repeatedly for hours upon hours. This is what they do. I used to get super pissed, but now...eh, not so much. In fact, if you send these gamers a message after a match you may be surprised to find out they're nice enough. Really, they're just folks that care a whole hell of a lot more about winning a PVP match in a video game than I ever will. I don't fault or judge them for that. But you should keep that in mind. That player that just sniped or blink shotgunned you has likely invested countless hours of his/her life into this game for that one moment.

Pvp has nevr been better. It's like you say, you are rusty but you don't notice it. When I came back it was the same for me and it was frustrating, now I'm owning as usual.

Huh? Bungie has made massive improvements to pvp recently. There is actual weapon diversity and it encourages fireteam strategy's. Opposed to you need one of two handcannons and you'll be fine otherwise don't bother. Which is How it's been for way too long.

My PvP friends have all basically quit destiny.. My PvE friends are having the time of their life. That's a sign that something is wrong lol

Yeah current meta is really annoying I'm trying my best to flow with the times. everyone just runs around with an AR spamming bullets hoping to steal the kill from all their other teammates. There's no more precision shooting it's just the whole opposite team firing off 100000000's of bullets shooting at your body hoping to get the kill. I still run around with severely nerfed hand cannons and do alright.
