I've been hitting the grimoires pretty heavy lately and after the events of the Paradox quest in TTK. I've come up with the theory that the skeleton you find in the Vault of Glass isn't Praedyth, but actually Kabr most likely. Here's why..
If you nab the Grimoire card titled Praedyth's Door it talks about how Praedyth has constructed a makeshift comm over the course of the last decade, which he is finally able to use in small windows when the Vex "open his cell" and that's how we recieve the transmission.
You go, fight the Vex and find his skeleton. Case closed, right? But ponder this..
In previous grimoire cards Praedyth's name was unable to be read, spoke, written or heard without a level of distortion because he had been wiped from time and existence by the Vex. Pahanin swore that him and Kabr went into a Vault with a third person while others claimed they didn't.
Kabr escaped from the Vault days after Pahanin did, the Vex corrupting his mind. He said he made a wound in the Vault and starts describing Atheon. He carried Vex from within outside to dismantle them, craft his armor and return to the Vault where he opens the "vault by himself, but not alone"
"If I speak again, I am not Kabr," If, being the key word.
Now when you go through the Vault of Glass raid you can pick up all of Kabr's armor and Praedyth's Weapons.
The skeleton you find in the Vault has no armor on or around it. Assuming that Kabr returned to the Vault with just the Aegis and his corrupting mind, this would explain why there are no weapons with the body either. Your ghost says that there is a bit of light left in the body but cannot bring him back (probably due to the guardian's lack of Ghost)
That being said, if Praedyth was wiped from existence there would be no trace of his skeleton. If it were his body. There would be armor. Instead, only his guns are found. Praedyth is communicating with you when his cell is opened via his comm. That means that he, and the comm are alive and well somewhere within the Vault.
Kabr's entire armor set is found in the Vault. So, it is more likely that the Vex corrupted-Kabr returned to the Vault and wandered it aimlessly as he slipped into madness and eventually perished.
But hey, it's just a theory. Discuss!
Edit: Many people have brought this up about the Aegis. Kabr didn't become the Aegis but he did craft it. The card says he infused it with his light (we don't know how much or little since we know guardians can have a varying amount of light. Body on the moon with none, corrupted guardians with fading light, great amounts of light and small) he then keeps talking about what is happening to him since he made it. About the Vex being in his blood and brain. He's still alive at this point and not the Aegis.
This sparks up plenty of theory about him possibly being Atheon through a grandfather paradox, being dead or being transformed into something as terrible as Atheon but that's another theory with not much to go on it right now

Edited by hellhound411: 9/21/2015 12:48:28 AMCould be that he was taken withing the vault. Taken can move in and out of space where time doesnt exist, remeber how they got into the warminds bunker, they can teleport. Out into their dimension and reappear in our without being affected by time. So what happens when he was teleported into the past, the far past where oryx was running around, when infact he is older than the eartj itself. What happens when he is taking, when the portal open in the vault he was able to escape. Rember, the taken all still have their will, and constantly fight to regain control. Thats is the studdering u see when they try to be still. Remeber the bungie art with the hunter running with the taken from the begining. Just saying.

3 RepliesI think you're more into the lore than Bungie is. Which is a shame, because these types of mystery stories would be awesome.

1 Reply>Were hoping last line is "but hey, that's just a theory! A game theory!" >Only adds first sentence >Dissapointed.jpeg Good idea though!

10 RepliesWell the reason that could be praedyth is because he could have been saying all of that in a different time, time is distorted in the vog so by the time we got there he could have died, but I hope he's still alive, I was saddened by the fact he was dead.

2 RepliesJohn Cena!!!

1 ReplyOf all things I've read about the lore and the characters and stuff like that the one thing that strikes me as funny is this. Where does it say that Kabr was organic? I see tons of stuff regarding his armor or the way he died and stuff but nothing really says he wasn't an exo... or maybe i just missed it.

1 ReplyYessss! I hope Praedyth is expanded on in the future!

10 RepliesEdited by Ceramic_Knight1: 9/20/2015 9:35:09 PMA paradox is something that makes no logical sense. We'll be guessing until they decide to put it all out there. The grandfather paradox is the best one. You go back in time and kill your grandfather. How were you able to do that since killing him would mean you were never born. If you were never born, how did he die? If he were wiped from existence in the vault, how did any of those events ever occur? Nobody would have went in. If nobody went in, he would be alive. Then how would we know that he was wiped from existence? Someone at Bungie really likes theoretical physics.

3 RepliesMaybe kinda obvious of me to say but also this idea of its not praedyth is seen on praedyths revenge i think it is, were it says praedyths fall isnt over because it hants happened yet, suggesting that praedyth is still alive, so it couldnt be his skeleton, and in the grimoire it says phanin sees kabr die and thats why he is scared of fighting alone making it seem that although we know kabr sacrifices himself to give us the shield, it could very much be his body we see, and not praedyths

1 ReplyWarlocks wear cloth gear. Wouldn't it be safe to say the armor rotted away over the centuries? As for him speaking to you, he could be in another time entirely.
-
1 ReplyI don't know if your post is true or not, but i agree on the fact that the body in the VoG is not praedyth
-
1 ReplyI'm not one for huge theories but I believe the signal, (since time flows differently in the vault), that the signal was coming from another time period entirely, which would explain why your ghost intercepts it and tracks it to a skeleton that is supposedly centuries old.
-
1 ReplyWhere did you find the dead ghost that gives pradyths door
-
1 ReplyIt could still be preadyth though. In the vault of glass time is shifted constantly. Thus when you're raiding and get sent to a different time. I believe it is preadyth, but for all we know he could still be alive in a different time in the vault. He was probably lost in time at some point just like it reads when you wipe during the raid. Hell for all we know in his time he could still be with kabr.

1 ReplyOkay, i explored the leap of faith to gorgons while my buddy did spirit bloom route. He told me he saw what looked like a lightstand or possible makeshift antenna a little bit above the gorgon exotic chest room. Said it was like the bronze looking vex stuff. I dont remember if thats there normally, but it could lend credence to the gorgon chest being where the vex stashed his stuff after capturing him. Different timelines would yield different things. Week by week. Idk. Will be exploring more later.

3 Repliesare you sure? Don't tell me I T-bagged and danced on his bones for nothing...lol

1 ReplyA very well thought out theory, I'm glad that there's still some lore hunters lurking on these forums.

2 RepliesEdited by Guorium: 9/20/2015 7:47:58 PMSo you say Kabr went streaking in the vault correct?

... A game theory Numb if you get it

5 RepliesSo many plot twists in this thread it hurts

8 RepliesInteresting but the way you found the skeleton is bc your cost pinpointed the origin of the comm signal. Between the two, Kabr is the most likely one to remain alive
