I've been hitting the grimoires pretty heavy lately and after the events of the Paradox quest in TTK. I've come up with the theory that the skeleton you find in the Vault of Glass isn't Praedyth, but actually Kabr most likely. Here's why..
If you nab the Grimoire card titled Praedyth's Door it talks about how Praedyth has constructed a makeshift comm over the course of the last decade, which he is finally able to use in small windows when the Vex "open his cell" and that's how we recieve the transmission.
You go, fight the Vex and find his skeleton. Case closed, right? But ponder this..
In previous grimoire cards Praedyth's name was unable to be read, spoke, written or heard without a level of distortion because he had been wiped from time and existence by the Vex. Pahanin swore that him and Kabr went into a Vault with a third person while others claimed they didn't.
Kabr escaped from the Vault days after Pahanin did, the Vex corrupting his mind. He said he made a wound in the Vault and starts describing Atheon. He carried Vex from within outside to dismantle them, craft his armor and return to the Vault where he opens the "vault by himself, but not alone"
"If I speak again, I am not Kabr," If, being the key word.
Now when you go through the Vault of Glass raid you can pick up all of Kabr's armor and Praedyth's Weapons.
The skeleton you find in the Vault has no armor on or around it. Assuming that Kabr returned to the Vault with just the Aegis and his corrupting mind, this would explain why there are no weapons with the body either. Your ghost says that there is a bit of light left in the body but cannot bring him back (probably due to the guardian's lack of Ghost)
That being said, if Praedyth was wiped from existence there would be no trace of his skeleton. If it were his body. There would be armor. Instead, only his guns are found. Praedyth is communicating with you when his cell is opened via his comm. That means that he, and the comm are alive and well somewhere within the Vault.
Kabr's entire armor set is found in the Vault. So, it is more likely that the Vex corrupted-Kabr returned to the Vault and wandered it aimlessly as he slipped into madness and eventually perished.
But hey, it's just a theory. Discuss!
Edit: Many people have brought this up about the Aegis. Kabr didn't become the Aegis but he did craft it. The card says he infused it with his light (we don't know how much or little since we know guardians can have a varying amount of light. Body on the moon with none, corrupted guardians with fading light, great amounts of light and small) he then keeps talking about what is happening to him since he made it. About the Vex being in his blood and brain. He's still alive at this point and not the Aegis.
This sparks up plenty of theory about him possibly being Atheon through a grandfather paradox, being dead or being transformed into something as terrible as Atheon but that's another theory with not much to go on it right now

1 ReplyMy theory was that Praedyth is alive somewhere else, on a different plane or time.
-
1 ReplyMy friend told me that the skeleton is Praedyth. However the voice of him is Praedyth, but he is stuck in the Grandfather Paradox.

6 RepliesA few things are certain. A) that we the player are not in an infinite loop caused by the Vault. Ikora called it one of our greatest victories- the destruction of times conflux. B) Praedyth's distress signal mentioned the TAKEN. He said they were coming to take the Vex and next the Vault or something to that extent. So he, is aware, of present happenings (at LEAST) C) by the time we get to his supposed place there is a body that everyone assumes must be his yet Praedyth claims to be alive But what I think what went down in the vault was- the Vex were getting their ass kicked by the Taken and they knew that if they let Praedyth speak that a Guardian would investigate and take them out. "the enemy of my enemy is my friend". I don't have any ideas about the skeleton. Whether it was just a Vex copy of his bones, a future dead Praedyth, or something else entirely. But it's still key to note that Praedyth was aware of the Taken

1 ReplyI love this kind of stuff. Thank you for caring about the story and lore!

1 ReplyBut why?

9 RepliesI would love for us to discover a time rift opened by the vex near Atheon's last stand, that when we go through, it leads us to different time periods. Like to the discovery of the traveller, or twilight gap, or etc. But idk.

3 RepliesSo Kabr used his light to create the Aegis… possible relation to the ghost mentioning some light still remains perhaps?
-
5 RepliesWait, I thought kabr sacrificed himself and became the aegis so that future guardians (i.e. us) could succeed where he and his fireteam had failed. I was fairly certain of this.

23 RepliesYou should read the Vex grimoire cards. The vex do crazy stuff like make digital replicas of people and conduct experiments with those copies. They sometimes keep them suspended in causal loops, travel the copies through space or time in the vex network. It is quite possible that Praedyth is both dead and not dead. The bones that were found are likely the bones of praedyth and the vex used his armor to create digital replicas of him and one of those replicas is the one calling out the distress signal. This theory is strengthened by the description of Praedyth's Revenge
Praedyth's fall isn't over… because it hasn't happened yet… and it will happen again.
Also if you read the vex 4 grimoire it says that there were 227 copies of the original ishtar collective academy scientists that the vex made and those copies volunteered to infiltrate the vex network and explore. It is possible that Kabr was 'alone but not alone' because he had the digital clones of Praedeth, Dr. Shim and Dr. Duane-Niahds helping him infiltrate the VoG.

3 RepliesI always assumed that kabr became the aegis by turning all he was into a concentrated light that would Peirce the dark of the vault.

2 RepliesHow did you get praedyths door grimoire card
-
1 ReplyIf Praedyth had been wiped from existence, you wouldn't even find his armor. But ofc it's Prae's skeleton. That's the whole point of the mission. It's called "Paradox"? He's not meant to of ever existed in our world, yet there are his remains. Aka, a paradox. Come on man.

5 RepliesMaybe the fact that the Vex tried to erase Praedyth from time is why some people say that he went in with Kabr and some don't. The Vex, aren't perfect, so they are constantly trying to keep him suppressed, but they can't for too long, and thats why Praedyth keeps showing up in the studies of venus, cause every time they open his "cell" he tries to communicate, which pulses, so to speak through time and triggers memory of him. I don't know maybe...

1 ReplyVery interesting!

1 Replyi agree. I thought it was a bit weird that we found praedyth's skeleton even though he was flung into the future....

I actually believe these last few missions (including the Cabal distress mission) are preparing the way for future DLCs. This mission I believe opens the path for Praedyth's return in the Vex DLC, where according to rumor, you will travel through various key points in history and "mend" the time stream. I believe Praedyth will be the quest giver as Eris is for Hive. Just my two cents and would be consistent with the improvement by bungie to fix the story on this DLC
