It doesn't appear that many of you ever have. Destiny is basically an MMO lite. It has many of the defining features but is a lot less in depth. In every other MMO I have played armor and weapons stay at their current level when a new expansion is released and new, more powerful gear comes out. It is how these games work and how they keep people playing.
IMO, you have been lucky to keep the exotics and legendaries for so long. Many MMO's are on a 4 to 6 month cycle. All the complaints about exotics becoming obsolete is kind of funny to me. Why in the world would you want to use the same gear for the life of the game?

1 ReplyI played phantasy star universe. When it was online. And now that I think of it I still play it online with the clementine private server :)

1 ReplyWorld of Warcraft, Everquest 1&2, Star Wars Galaxies, Guild Wars 1&2 etc... Destiny is an MMO for 3 reasons, it is a multiplayer with many users, complete end game content with said players to obtain upgrades to equipment and you spend quite a bit of time farming content.

I played WoWC for like a month before the free trial need so yes, but it doesn't really count

Anarchy Online Clan forever!

ESO is really the only one.

2 RepliesThat's fair, but have you ever noticed how in MMOs the gear gets better every expansion. Now compare VoG to CE to Skolas gear and tell me what the trend is. It makes sense people would want to keep the old stuff.

Yeah I play club penguin :3

Thank you for this. I've played WoW for a while and I don't mind our current weapons not being as strong as the new ones. It's just how these games work

I used to have a Club Penguin account but I gave it to me Cabin Boy. He be ownin' me Puffles. Be warned Maties. Club Penguin has an Out of Control player base. Ye should be watchin' ye back 'round 'em.

I haven't played a mmo but understand their cycling system, destiny absolutely is turning into a mmo and I thinking moving past year 1 weapons was a smart move. Not only that but many of the Vog weapons were waaaay to strong and as much as we loved the for being unique if we continued to carry those weapons with use forever we wouldn't have as much diversity.
-
I have played Neverwinter and wareframe. I don't know if I would consider wareframe as an mmo though it kind of is. Destiny is not an mmo not even remotely close.
-
I played swtor for about a year, and yes destiny shares many similarities to an mmo expect for actual gameplay
-
You're comment proves you've never played one. Destiny is nothing close to an mmo. CoD and BF are closer.
