Any long time players feel obsolete?
So I'm a day one player and the closer TTK gets the more I'm becoming withdrawn from destiny. I feel as if I'm becoming a brand new player once again. Everything I did in year one doesn't really matter anymore. Call me an elitist if you want but isn't the reason we played so much was for new gear. I though I wouldn't care about year 1 gear being obsolete but turns out I do. I can't even wear my favorite class items anymore unless I want a lower light level. Anyone one that comes into destiny now will be on the same level with someone who played from day 1 and put hundreds of hours into this game. I preordered the CE of TTK and starting to debate getting a refund and letting destiny go. I always defended this game and hated on "I quit" post but it might be my time. I just don't want to start over.

10 RepliesI think it's sad you don't enjoy Destiny anymore, you obviously invested a lot of time into this game. However, do you remember that feeling you got when all that sweet loot dropped for you and you strutted that new piece of armour or weapon in the Tower? That feeling awaits you again on reset! I don't mind other gamers eventually reaching the same level cap, I actually get a kick out of helping others reach their goals in Destiny, I love hearing other people's reactions when they finally get that last bit of gear they needed to hit the level cap or when the exotic they were chasing finally drops! Take a break from the game if you need bro and come back refreshed, there are Guardians out there who could use your help!

Atm I'll ware my favorite class item and a cool ghost shell.... But will hate I am losing some of my cool class items.

1 ReplyI agree with you! It's not that TTK is s new game, it's just an expansion, so why make everything worthless we've worked for? And all the people who say, I don't care....just adapt to the new gear and all, are surely the ones who would accept trump as president too.

That would collect all weapons and armor you found in VoG, CE, IB, QR, and PoE. It would even bring back an incentive for players to continue playing these older activities so they can finish their "VoG" weapons collection.

Edited by BL0CKHE4D: 9/12/2015 11:09:24 AMIn most online RPGs whenever an expansion that increased level cap or higher level raids is released old gear gets replaced. Your 'old gear' is not useless. You can still use it on y1 content. If anything destiny is fairly unique in that any lvl advantage is removed in most pvp so your y1 favorites can live on! If all new players didnt have a shot at getting on a fairly even playing field it would be hard to attract new people since like it or not, they would be excluded from any end game content for lack of gear. Advantage y1 players have? A head start on exotics! Once a few weeks have gone past with the new systems and marks etc the more you play the faster you will progress so the players that are rabid fans will end up ahead again! Edit: if you think trek raid gear looks bad i remember some old raid sets from WOW (aq40 *cough) looking like a clown had thrown up on me! Having only had this game for a couple of months, am really looking forward to tk and wish i had picked this up sooner. But if you dont enjoy it i would give it a rest and see if you are tempted back!

Honestly. I agree. The game doesnt reward enough for the time spent. I am also a day 1 guardian and I feel as if everything we earned is obsolete. Im getting tired to do it again... Then again next year... And again... Etc for 10 years....

2 RepliesCan't say I share your view point, many of our favorite exotics will still be in our hands dealing death to helpless foes. As for the raid gear and class items, meh. They're just clothes, the real legend in the player. Do you want to be recognized as the guy who had that old school Titan mark from VoG or would you rather be remembered as a badass who inspired other players to new levels of badassery with his own badass performance. I choose badassery via a trail of enemy corpses

I think the only thing that really made the difference between decent players and day one or destinylovers was the grimore score. And i think its BULLCRAP that they replaced it with the light level and that you cant see them anymore without inspecting players!

2 RepliesWell, it doesn't upset me, but it does suck that everything you got up to this point is becoming irrelevant. A lot of these exotics and such were nearly impossible to get thanks to RNG. I'm going to stick it out for year 2 I think, but if year 3 ends up starting us back at squre one, I'll find a new game to play.No point in being a veteran just to get kicked back to "recruit" status every year. I'm not really even hyped or disgruntled about TTK, more apathetic and waiting to see how it turns out.

They should make the game harder so people take longer to level up . Most of the moaners and haters rush through the game and then get bored because there is nothing to do .

I quit playing in October because I didn't like what destiny was. I feel pretty good bout TTK, I get to enjoy Destiny pretty much untainted from this new point of view.
