We're all going to look the same again
With the fact that our old gear will become obsolete, we all have to switch to the new gear now. The only thing that will make us kind of unique, is the load of shaders we can choose from. But gear? Very limited, yet again.
I just don't get it, why can't we ascent our old gear in some way bungie? It wouldn't hurt the game balance in any way!
It would just add to all the new stuff and make us really create our very own "legend"
Just my two cents to the "let all the year one stuff behind" philosophy from bungie.
edit: Now I really have to do an edit, sigh....
Guys, I KNOW that there is infusion!
But it doesn't work on year 1 gear and THAT is what I was talking about. Our OLD gear!
Just think about it. In the new IB for example, everyone will have the same cloak on again. There's no option to wear your year one cloak, as it has the worst stats and brings you down in light level.
So wouldn't it just add to the variety, if we could upgrade our favorite old gear? Who will be hurt if we do that?
And how many leg pieces you think will have heavy ammo on them? Maybe the ones from the raid and ToO and thats about it. So 2 choices for your legs there if you want more heavy ammo.
Those are just examples of how limited we eventually will be again. And it could be fixed so easy without hurting the gameplay or anything.
But maybe it's just me who wants to keep some hard earned stuff from year one. I'll wait to dismantle anything though (happened to me with the supremacy sniper and I did regret it a few month later)

I loved the variety of armour players could wear. During the HoW max level players could pick from so many options. It'll be a shame if TTK limits you to 1 armour set like the TDB did. Progression not regression please, Bungie.

10 RepliesJust something for the people complaining about not bringing gear over to think about: once a year, do you see that there is a new call of duty coming out and think "man, I wasted this last year playing this game! What was the point in even getting it? Now I have to go through a whole new story and get new weapons!" No, you don't. But you do with destiny. It's basically the same as every other game. Each year, you get a new game with a new story, weapons, armor, and play style. The only difference is that bungie isn't calling ttk a new game

18 RepliesSuppose you are playing Skyrim. Let's say you like the look of the iron armor. But then you get a piece of dwarven armor. You won't wear the iron armor just to look cool, you will wear the dwarven armor because it helps you out more. It's a common practice to stop using old equipment in favor of new and better equipment, especially in mmo's and rpg games. Don't know why everyone is losing their mind over this.

I feel like the only reason why they can't keep letting us ascend old gear is because they don't want to keep having to expand the vault. With more people ascending and keeping all their old gear they'll have to keep adding more vault space as time goes on and devoting programmers to that wouldn't be efficient in terms of improving the game, eg. Making the game world a truly "open world"

If the armory is any indication, there are a LOT of pieces coming in TTK. And, unlike before, you can even boost some to higher levels to keep using them. So variety isn't looking to be a problem.

1 ReplyYes and No. Armor wise everyone will still have thier own set once more Armor is equipped. Simply by Infusion. However the Class Items are what everyone will be similar in. So every Hunter will be rocking the same Hood and so on. Only Random Perks should've been added to the Class Items and not Light level.
