With the fact that our old gear will become obsolete, we all have to switch to the new gear now. The only thing that will make us kind of unique, is the load of shaders we can choose from. But gear? Very limited, yet again.
I just don't get it, why can't we ascent our old gear in some way bungie? It wouldn't hurt the game balance in any way!
It would just add to all the new stuff and make us really create our very own "legend"
Just my two cents to the "let all the year one stuff behind" philosophy from bungie.
edit: Now I really have to do an edit, sigh....
Guys, I KNOW that there is infusion!
But it doesn't work on year 1 gear and THAT is what I was talking about. Our OLD gear!
Just think about it. In the new IB for example, everyone will have the same cloak on again. There's no option to wear your year one cloak, as it has the worst stats and brings you down in light level.
So wouldn't it just add to the variety, if we could upgrade our favorite old gear? Who will be hurt if we do that?
And how many leg pieces you think will have heavy ammo on them? Maybe the ones from the raid and ToO and thats about it. So 2 choices for your legs there if you want more heavy ammo.
Those are just examples of how limited we eventually will be again. And it could be fixed so easy without hurting the gameplay or anything.
But maybe it's just me who wants to keep some hard earned stuff from year one. I'll wait to dismantle anything though (happened to me with the supremacy sniper and I did regret it a few month later)

I say once we get the new raid armor we can infuse the raid armor with our old armor so we can still look different

4 RepliesOh boy, more people that don't understand infusion It's ok. Sshhhhhh It's all gonna be ok

2 RepliesI just don't like how no one will be able to tell the difference between year 1 guardians and year 2 guardians because everyone has to wear year 2 gear to be as powerful as possible. As year 1 guardians we should be able to upgrade our year 1 gear to max levels so we can show off gear that isn't obtainable anymore while still remaining at max light level. Instead, Bungie nerfed all of our purple legendary gear into blues. It makes me feel like upgrading and ascending that gear with etheric light was a huge waste of time.

It's a shared world shooter, not an mmo rpg lol. I love me some mmo rpgs, but this isn't really that type of game. Sure, extra character customization would be sweet to have, but I highly doubt that's on Bungies priority list for this game (right now). Maybe Destiny the sequel lol.

You know what can keep this from happening?
A cosmetic menu
8 RepliesOk, so for each class we have the following: 2 sets of raid armour (hoping the HC gear will look different like WoW did) Vanguard armour Exclusive armour for PS3/4 Dead orbit armour Future war cult armour New monarchy armour Crucible armour Iron banner armour Trials of Osiris armour Please add on if I've missed any legendary tier armour sets. I feel like we have quite a variety this time around
-
This isn't really true. With the light level system, we will be able to wear even one or two blue pieces without taking much damage penalty at all. If blues top out 60 or so below the legendary and exotics, then one blue gear piece would only drop you 6 light levels. According to the devs, 6 light would be a very small damage penalty What this means is that we will be able to wear a lot of different gear without killing our power like in year one. One blue piece in year one would drop you 2 levels, which was a 40% damage reduction. That won't be the case in year 2

"Build your own legend" from the (at most) 3 armor sets we give each class! Be happy you have three whole classes too!
-
1 ReplyI hate that class items affects your light level, now I cant use my old cloaks, that is just stupid. I dont like any of the new ones

Edited by Smoke vi7216: 9/12/2015 12:18:31 AMthis is not barbie doll dress up. u want the best gear? do the raid, you dont need the best gear for any other activity in the game exempt the hard raid. so dont wear it
-
2 RepliesInfusion is a thing dude, no one seems to realize this
-
2 RepliesSince we don't need certain armor to be a certain level we can wear whatever we want
-
Bump! I'm all for this idea

1 ReplyI guess I want to know how you know that there is not going to be multiple sets of armor that can be Max level. It is bungie, but I will hold judgement on "It limited" until I see all of the options. And as others have said infusion will allow you to pretty much level any Year 2 Armor piece to the max. It does suck to not be able to bring my IB gear with me (not that I am going to dismantle it), but we are not all going to look the same, there are more options. I reserve the right to be wrong once Tuesday comes and the OP turns out to be right. Cause come on this is Bungie.

2 Replies... All old gear (excluding iron banner and raid gear) will be available as a drop or from a vendor they will be cosmetically the same an be able to be infused, but they will have different perk sets. This applies to some weapons as well.
-
So there are going to be quite a few gear sets this time around. Iron Banner, Trials, the Raid will have 2 apparently, all the faction gear and Vanguard gear, and some the strikes will have gear too. On top of that you can infuse some armour and then whichever gear you are wearing, you dump a shader on top of it. I don't think we'll have a repeat of Year 1 here. At least not to the extent you think
-
I'll wear my year one IB cloak and collect tears as I still win
-
1 ReplyI think Iron Banner gear should at least be allowed to have some infusion because you're right. Every Hunter will just be a wolf's head etc.
-
5 RepliesJust find some cool Y2 gear and ascend that. Infusion may not work with Y1 gear but theres plenty of Y2 gear to do it with.
-
11 RepliesEdited by LucidFever: 9/11/2015 1:17:14 PMFace palm... OP doesn't realize that new gear is coming out in 4 days.

1 ReplyYou guys are forgetting about infusion.

Edited by JayP: 9/11/2015 8:00:21 AMThis issue would be of no concern if destiny had the wardrobe system like the one in Guildwars 2. When you obtain a weapon / armor, the skin is unlocked and accessible in your 'wardrobe'. Then, using 'transmutation charges' (or strange coins), you change the appearance of a more preferred item while keeping its stats.
-
I just wait class items (the one thing that made us unique) didn't add to you light level. I'm keeping some all the way to the end though just because in rift light level doesn't matter because there's no lvl advantages ( I think don't crucify me)
-
I want to keep my full trails gear
-
You would think this is a Sims game or something. If your biggest worry is how your character will look... Nvm smh...
