The title says it all. Why is this community getting hyped up about being able to use auto rifles again?. ARs are easy to use and can and will be spammed from any range. They said they are nerfing range and increasing recoil but only to a small degree so that may or may not help, but I'm worried that people will continue to abuse suros like a scout rifle like they did before.
Edit: This isn't a post complaining about autos, it is primarily an open question to the community on why they want autos buffed, and also part my opinion on it.
Edit 2: People keep saying "clearly you didn't play in the beginning or you would know..." let me clarify this, I have play since the beta and played crucible when suros and other ARs were king.

2 RepliesWith the HC nerf and AR but it should (or at least the idea is to) bring most weapons onto an even playing field (at least for they're optimal intended range). So you'll see more variety. Instead of HC's dominating at all ranges of engagement and AR's being almost completely worthless, you'll see weapons performing more fairly in the right situation for they're class. So variety. That's the excitement.

Because people just like spraying and praying basically

15 RepliesStill takes more skill than shooting 2-3 times and running away...

1 ReplyPeople are excited for the AR buff because it is the AR buff.
-
1 ReplySuros. Try it on Tuesday I'm blowing the dust off mine tonight*
-
3 RepliesThe Necrochasm is getting 5 buffs The Hardlight is getting 3 buffs Auto rifles in general are meh
-
2 RepliesBecause autos have been irrelevant since what week 4 week 5 it only took almost a year for them to be rid the hand cannon abuse
-
you hand cannon fags ruined autos for me
-
In a year one AR user. So yes I'm hyped to be able to use them once again with there full potential.

1 ReplyI actually think the game was most balanced in the AR s dominated days. I agree that the Suros was too good but there were other guns that completed. You had shadow price, vanquisher. It allow people to use other exotics like g horn, invective , truth, vex. Now is just exotic hand guns. Forgot the pocket infinity as well.

2 RepliesAren't you sick of hand cannons left and right????? I personally miss my suros.. Now we'll see autos, pulse, hand cannons and scouts in the crucible. It's called balance. We'll see how it all plays out though..

New meta

Edited by TheArtist: 9/7/2015 10:53:44 AM1. Suros needed to be range nerfed...not damage nerfed. When 1.1.1 dropped. 2. When auto-rifles dominated the meta, gunfights were longer and more interesting than in the current one where everyone is carrying quick-killing hand cannons and high-impact pulse rifles. 3. I want ARs buffed because strong ARs (not shot-package nerfs) will be instrumental in getting shotgun rushers back under control. When ARs dominated the meta, I could stand my ground and annihilate slide-shotgunners and take a huge chunk out of the hide of any blink-shotgunner. The Day 1.1.1 dropped was the day shotgun rushers stopped having to respect primary weapon fire. 4. Patch 1.1.1 made ARs all but USELESS for any sort of raiding or other high-level PvE play.

Because there is nerfing then there's destroying a weapon class. Autos were made useless against anything bigger than a teir 1 or 2 enemy.
-
1 ReplyI think this so called buff has been greatly misunderstood, they are basically reducing range and increasing recoil and only increasing damage by 10% to AL combatants. People are reading too much between the lines, if you go through the notes for auto rifles, at no point does it give you any indication rifles will be anywhere near the point they were before the nerf.
-
The reason why is they are exited to use them against and are hoping they will return to there former glory as the best weapon type( this is mine and most people's opinions please do not take any insult)
-
This will sound very odd but I believe auto rifles are among the hardest weapons to use in Destiny (though I think scouts are the hardest). Why? You need to deliver a continuous stream of bullets to match 1 shot from a handcannon. This lack of burst damage allows opponents to slip in and out of cover and survive. Also, you have to control recoil much more heavily (the entire firefight) while burst weapons allow you to adjust in-between shots. The destiny auto rifles aren't like cod where they more or less insta-kill. They take a good chunk of time to kill. But this is just my opinion.

11 RepliesAuto rifles are pretty much useless currently, the buff aims to make them viable again. If it gives me more options then I can't complain.

Edited by altairrules: 9/7/2015 10:08:45 AMBecause I miss my shadow price and as a titan I'm responsible for crowd control I used my shadow price with armor piercing rounds to keep the mobs in check while the other guys would focus on the boss Edit: typo

I like to spray and pray. At walls. Because reasons.
-
They shouldn't have been nerfed, and it will also add diversity to the crucible.
-
Because they shouldn't have been nerfed so damn hard in the first place.
-
One thing to keep in mind is that pulse rifles were absolute trash when auto rifles were at the top of the food chain. They will probably be the best weapons, along with the higher RoF scout rifles. Hand cannons should be fine, but not as dominant as they were. Hopefully this is the update that works.

Edited by UnwindingEar5: 9/7/2015 9:54:28 AMThink crucible was most balanced when ARs ruled PvP. Player could still use all the guns equally and it wasn't stick to one gun that's the best, you could actually change from a good gun to a bad gun and still do well in crucible. IMO
