So let me start of with a disclaimer. This is my opinion . Though it may be shared by others. I'm not "speaking" for any other player besides myself. Why post? Because , as a paying customer. I have the right to voice my displeasure with the product I purchased.
Now on to what i've seen over the past year and over 1000 hours of play time that has brought me to swearing off Destiny until it receives a MAJOR over haul.
As Guardians we are the "Saviors" of humanity. For whatever reason ( still a damn mystery because of a garbage story line) Why do i never feel like i'm the baddest ( insert favorite expletive) on the block? I've spent more time dodging incoming splash and AoE damage than taking the fight to the "darkness"
700 years into the future, ancient alien technology , walking talking cyborgs, and jump ships. The best weapons we have are handguns , semi auto and burst rifles, and a rocket launcher with tracking munitions? Really? It's 2015, We can pluck people from moving cars with a drone, we have .50 caliber mini guns that fire 2000 rpm. No wonder humanity got their butts kicked. The weapons are AWFUL and so do NOT feel like something that's either Legendary, or Exotic. Did the human race forget how to mount a selector switch on a rifle, that takes it from semi, to burst to full auto?
On to those enemies. Teleporting , tethered bullet sponges, that deal out nothing but insane amounts of AOE damage. I've solo'd ever night fall up to 3 weeks ago since February. It's the same MO. Dodge the fire hose, pull on the slot machine.
The loot system for this game is crap. Seriously. It's a Vegas Casino . A very large slot machine, in the center of a room. Attached to it are two fire hoses turned on full blast. When you finally fight off all the water you get a chance at a pull of the lever.
I've never been a fan of the PvP in Destiny. For two reasons. One, i'm not good at it. and it reminds me of CoD with supers instead of kill streaks. Also, it's 2015, why a game with this kind of funding is using P2P connections, for so much of the content is beyond me.
Gear grind. I am a fan of "grindy" games. Hell i'm neck deep in two now. But i want to feel like when i stop playing for the night i've made some sort of progress. Got something for my time. Even with the last expansion i felt like i was just doing stuff out of habit, not progression.
The big middle finger to the year one players. I complete tasks , and get a banner, and a shader or whatever it is. Then after about 30 minutes I turn in all the equipment i have to have to grind all new stuff because your development staff can't figure out how to properly balance weapons in PvP . Nope, i'm not doing it. I know this is common among MMO's . Hell WoW did it. I quit playing that too. It's not my job to part with that item. It's your job to make me WANT to part with that item , not because of a level or damage. But because of features or a skin. So you have mathematical wiz who made an algorithm that sets everyone's level based on the ALL the gear in their inventory? Why don't you just come out and be honest. You're using this to stretch out what mineral content you have. To convolute the gear grind even more. You're adding perks to items that didn't have them before.
For the past year i've been a peace with the idea that i had just shelled out money for a "beta" version of Destiny. But after seeing what you're doing now. You've turned beta 1.0, into beta 2.0. Destiny isn't Evolving . It's on the fly damage control.
The fans of this game are loyal and very passionate. Be it Bungie or Activision. I feel like i'm standing in a used car lot. Talking to a salesman who's trying to convince me why i should buy a hunk junk. I do what i always do. I take my dollars elsewhere. Just quit screwing over your remaining paying customers. Because these folks want this game to be something special. At best right now. It's average.

2 RepliesWe get it, you're leaving. Then go. It's not like you will "shine the light of knowledge" onto us. We know how the game works. We play it anyway. We don't really care if you want to leave. The doors right there.

6 Replieswell, there are definitely better ways to post or express your displeasure with this game. The feedback forum is full of hungry trolls, which makes it not a good place for this kind of topic. So the only reason I can imagine you really posted is because you want the attention, or you enjoy internet fighting. Buh bye.

I am neither a fanboy of Bungie or Activision. I mean Pitfall was awesome in the 80s, but I don't buy because of their names. I am a fan of this flawed game. I would potentially be an even bigger fan if they got rid of all pretense about this story and didn't have anything at all. It isn't the story/grimoire/lore, I personally just don't care. Point me at what you want me to kill and I will do it. Personally, I think the Traveler is holding the last city hostage and the Speakers are the reluctant voicebox. The Traveler wiped out everything else and is using the Guardians to keep itself from getting destroyed by some debt collectors. But even then, don't care. This game was designed using the same psychology that developed slot machine win systems. That isn't really a shock, most grind games are based off it. Now as far as the weapons, that so far no one has hacked enemy weapons is lunacy, but if you wreck all computers, people are going to have to use typewriters again. So I can understand the old school weapons. It is also relatable to people playing the game. Ultimately though, I think you got burned out. You may find you want to come back at some point, maybe not. Enjoyment is what this comes down to. Don't enjoy it, don't do it.

The only game I've ever played that after 4 hours you can have nothing to show for it but maybe a mote of light from a nightfall. Maybe a blue engram decrypts as a strange coin. You're right about the rng in this game. Some people get consistently good drops. For others it's absolutely miserable. How about grinding those raids to get the armor with light level so you could to progress to level 30? After dlc to level 32? I'd get nothing but the materials or when I'd get armor it would be duplicates. Boots, boots, boots... gauntlets, sweet! Back to boots. They made leveling up dependent on a horrible rng system. Vanilla destiny I never got a character to level 30. After TDB only one, thanks to the duplicate armor problem.

Edited by Gargoyles1: 9/5/2015 5:30:49 PMDestiny should have been great but has turned out to be average and the motor is starting to sputter. I have really enjoyed playing year one but am waiting to see year two not getting my hopes up tho shame. As I have already said average not great agree with what you say. I have been playing mad max a true open world game would advise every one to give it a go excellent game not much in the way of guns very true to films 4.5 stars out of 5 stars. Also preordered SW battlefront and blood bowl.

Edited by Misfyre: 9/4/2015 6:20:43 PMVery well said. I didn't expect you to be this articulate looking at the title of your post. I may not agree with your decision, but you make some excellent points.

Well said.

Yeah ttk is probably my last dlc everything so far has been really lackluster when shown off in streams and a guy played at expo in vegas and said the strike was shorter than phogoth. Ive moved on to pvp and enjoy that but weapon tweaks are far to infrequent to keep it fresh. The biggest thing here is other games are finally hitting shelves and with a new graw, rainbow six, sw battlefront and the division im just not sure how much longer destiny pvp will cut it for me

Awesome post mate!! Glad your wise to the scheme, It took re-playing the Halo series on legendary for me to realise how far Bungie have fallen.

Well Said dude.
