So my son got a restriction today for backing out of matches in trials yesterday, and I grounded him from Destiny for a month. I know it is "just a video game", but cheating is cheating, and I will not tolerate it. The thing is he's pretty decent in crucible (way better than me), and he probably could've gone flawless with the right team. My ex wife doesn't understand it, but she backs my decision. He claims he didn't know, but we've had discussions about it before while doing random activities with myself and other clan members. What does the community think about this?

How did he cheat?

For 1 month? i would understand if he lagswitched, but thats just cruel
-
Def needed a little time off it, however maybe a week rather than a month.

1 ReplyFair enough..
but you cheesed crota dad?
-
Put him up for adoption. Make another one that's more OP... Then nerf that one, make it obsolete. Try again

Haha I think that is great. It's a lesson hopefully your son will never forget. It maybe over something that some would consider silly but in reality it could be life changing. Sadly my generation believes that if you don't get caught cheating anything and everything is completely okay as long as you don't caught. They are selfish and will cheat anyone to get ahead in life. Now I know this is not everyone but sadly it is quiet a few are this way. By punishing son for cheating he may be less likely to become one of those people.

4 RepliesWhat's wrong with backing out of a trials match? How is this cheating? I backed out of a match the other day because I was red barring and I had messaged the other team asking if i was lagging, they responded and told me I was so I left so I wouldn't be making it unfair for them.

A month may have been too long. But I would have definitely taken it until the trials reset. Cheat to get this week's drop... Let's see if you can learn to play honorably next week. Something to that effect...

just delete his gally and that's enough punishment
-
He'll look back and realize you were a friggin goof that's all he'll take from this
-
I'd rather have a cheater drop out of game than to stay in it.
-
3 RepliesAs a father myself, I think you went way overboard! Challenge him to be better... Don't highlight low moments and expect your over punishment to incite change. Just my opinion...
-
6 RepliesYour a -blam!-ing idiot

2 RepliesYOU. You, are an inspiration. A hero. And thank you
-
Not for backing out, that is a VERY minor offense. For hacking or lag switching though I agree

16 RepliesAn entire month? There's something called discipline and something called oppression. You sir, are going too far with the amount of time and it'll eventually have reverse effects such as lack of interest, etc. Maybe a few days at max.
