People want to bitch about Activision but Destiny wouldn't exist at all without them.

4 RepliesActivision is like that uncle that paid for your college education. But molested you along the way...
-
Would you rather it have been EA?
-
Hahahahahahahahahaha... Oh wait, you're serious? Allow me to laugh even harder. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Edited by Devasstator: 8/31/2015 2:59:39 AMBungie likely had a number of interested parties, but they also wanted to retain their IP rights since as they stated publicly "they weren't getting rich off Halo". Activision likely provided them with the terms and funding or out-bid other companies (if it went to RFP). It would exist in some fashion regardless of Activision, Bungie just obviously saw the most benefit going with them.
-
I bitch because activision is a money whore. End of story.
-
That assumes that the makers of a multi-billion dollar franchise couldn't have found funding elsewhere? It seems highly improbably that Activision was the only offer bungie had. It's vastly different from the situation bungie was in when Microsoft picked them up. I guarantee you other publishers were interested in bungie when they broke off. And yes, people should be upset, Activision has had a long history of screwing over consumers. *throws anti-oxidants "Back you cancerous spore!"
-
It'd be better if they teamed up with someone else
-
7 RepliesYeah, I bet no one was interested in picking up the Halo creators' latest endeavor. Rolling eyes
-
7 RepliesIt would eventually exist. Microsoft would have been a better match, but they always want to own the intellectual property, which is a deal breaker for Bungie.
-
2 RepliesBungie+Bethsda would have been awesome...
-
1 ReplyYou probably aren't wrong. The liklihood is this - Bungie put Destiny out in an almost tender process. Several companies came back with offers. BUNGIE picked the best offer. People can hate on Activision all they want. But Bungie keep intellectual property rights of the game and after 10 years can publish anything they want in the destiny universe. Anyone blaming Activision? We will see in 9 years.
-
2 RepliesActivision is not the only publisher out there.
-
Destiny would have been just fine without any input from Activision. Money was all they needed.
-
So you are saying that you would have destiny how it is now rather than how it could of had double if not triple the content if activision didn't step in? You are a real special type of person.
-
3 RepliesNope, Activision was in need of something other than CoD, so since they literally had nothing else going on, they put everything on Bungie, but any other would have taken it, they knew the Halo kids would come crawling back just because it had Bungie on the case.
-
1 ReplyAre you ... defending Activison? Sit in the corner and think about what you've done. I would have been less disappointed if I caught you with a joint.
-
-
3 RepliesActually it would, there are other publishers out there. Activision won the deal with that big $500 million investment. I work in the same industry and I'd never go with Activision, their only concern seems to be money, not the game
-
Yeah because who else would want to pick up such a successful developer with a massive, rabib fan base? Who, I say! Who!?
-
Pfft bullshit.
-
6 RepliesI think it would... it's not like bungie is some tiny indie company. Plus there are plenty of other publishers out there that would throw money at bungie.
-
Now i really hate Activision
-
Nice try.
-
This guy...
-
It doesn't mean that I like them.
-
I don't see where this is an issue...
